  1. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t...797&page=16 Oh, and an interesting link from the TDI club page. Chris
  2. Actually fresh gas is not a bad idea, as the lighter hydrocarbons will evaporate off and the car will not run as well until it gets fresh fuel. And I agree with DF, Dave, and WMJ. GM cars can suffer all kinds of abuse and just keep on running . List seems way overboard. Chris
  3. Dodgefan-I think you've got some great places in Mass. and along the coast to explore with that thing once it gets its 3.5. You and Jessi will have a lot of fun with it. And I know how tough it is to wait to get anything back on the road. Seems to take forever. But like I said before...as a former Concorde owner...with the 3.5 you will be a very happpy guy. Glad you've found other LH owners you can hang with. I haven't found a lot of other GM guys around here, which is why I probably enjoy the VW and Miata clubs so much. Chris
  4. Good thing is even with the riots it's impossible for most of Detroit to look any worse. Chris
  5. So what is everyone else doing this month to enjoy your car hobby? For me-Buckeye Miata Club and the local Harley Owners Group (HOG)(who would ever think Harley's and Miatas together) are getting together tomorrow for the groundbreaking at the Flying Horse Farms, a Hole in the Wall Gang Camp like Victory Junction we've both worked to raise funds for. Last weekend we joined up for a Harley-Miata ride up there for a picnic. Every day I've drivin to work with the top down, 45 minutes + one way. Got caught in rain twice...took a clouburst before I put the top up. Went to a couple of Junkyards that have old cars, I have pics if I can figure out how to post them. Found another Junkyard that's been pretty much untouched since 1977 down off of blaine highway. Cars from the 40's and 50's, as well as the 60's there. Checking it out this week. This afternoon I played hookey from work and my 16 year old son and I rode around with the top down and listened to rock and roll for 3 hours with the top down. Nirvana, a ragtop and sunshine is an addictive combo. We then went to a classic car dealer (Arena Motor Sales) and checked out a couple of street rods. Liked a 39 Chevy buisiness coupe project car we saw. Tomorrow wife and I are going to ride up the Granville to see one of her friends. Granville is a beautiful historical town. Lots of nice curvy rural roads up there. Autocross Sunday. We've got a Get together with the VW TDI club next week, as well as another group of Miata clubs getting together for another southern Ohio tour. Plus, Grand Am and Vintage are coming to Mid Ohio. There is a large get together of Cobra owners, real and replica last weekend of the month. My 13 year old daughter and I are going to take a couple "father daughter" trips, as I will with my 8 year old also. So what are you all doing? Chris
  6. I think we have an anti-science bias in this country. Space exploration puts a real shine on Science IMHO. It's biggest benifit isn't the products or the technology...it's that it gives us a different perspective on the world and how we view ourselves. Chris
  7. PA is a cool state. My daughter is working at a summer camp in Philly this summer. Philly I think is one of America's most under rated cities. To me, It's just wonderful. My family spent a really cool partial day at Gettysburg also, want to go back this summmer. I'll have to keep the Harrisburg thing in mind...thanks for giving me something else to look forward to in PA. Chris
  8. ...it needs one of those chain steering wheels... Chris
  9. (how did we go from Cutlass 442 to sword fight?) White Knights
  10. My son's are both into techy and unusual cars. My oldest (16) is into rotary cars...we call him the "rotard" My youngest is being converted away from the Prius, slowly. I intend to fix that permanantly next year when I put a TDI in the driveway. My oldest daughter (19) wants a Chevy truck and is saving her money to buy one. My youngest daughter ( wants a Mustang convertible. My 13 year old daughter lusts after the Solstice. Did I ever say how much I love my daughters? Chris
  11. No, they are not. Nor are hybrids and performance. Diesel cars have their limitations but they have performed brilliantly in Europe for decades. And actually my younger son is a huge fan of the Prius. So we may well have one in the family yet when he gets his first car. Chris
  12. Cutlass 442. Saw a nice one (74ish) on a trailer coming home from work. Car was so nice I almost ran off the road looking at it... Chris
  13. I'd like to meet up with both of you but we're having an autrocross Sunday and the course will be kinda unique, looking forward to running it. Would like to meet both of you guys face to face someday. Chris
  14. Sweater (which works for crochet and knitting, as well as hooker, loose woman, and breasts. And you would need to own a few if you lived in Wisconsin. Top THAT) Chris
  15. The TDI thing to me is really cool (and not to bash Satty's Prius) because as a whole car a TDI is just an order of magnitude better/more enjoyable to own. Even the interior...the VW interior is MUCH more logical and comfortable. For a long trip of 600 miles I think by about eleventy billion to one I'd rather have the TDI for the interior alone. Not to mention what a step up the BMW is from the VW. Personally I'd like to someday own an old benz diesel. Chris
  16. Wisconsin! (I grew up in Wisconsin and spent great times as a kid fishing.) Chris
  17. The Prius guys and the TDI guys "fight" like the Mustang guys and the Camaro guys. Two very different cars for two very differetn types of buyer. Although I've known of families with both a TDI and a Prius. But no, the Prius isn't any more popular with my local TDI VW club than it is here on C and G. Chris
  18. I think the current fad of hybrids will die back if we ever get decent diesel cars here in the US. ...although I actually like the Fusion hybrid... Chris
  19. Not a Prius basher myself, however...read my sig...clean diesel FTW...VW TDI... A diesel car just drives more like a real car. A Prius was perhaps the worst driving car I've ever driven. CHRIS
  20. I agree with Camino, Satty and Dodgefan. We need to be in space...not because we "need to be there" but as a matter of intellectual curiousity about the universe we live in. Chris
  21. That restored and towing a Formula Ford would be perfect for me... If I could drive fast worth a damn. Let me stand corrected... That towing a bass boat....hmmm... Would make a great weekend vehicle. Chris
  22. I'm probably going to get corrected on this, but didn't GM, or perhaps just Chevy, try an X type frame in 58 or something? Chris
  23. I like this way of thinking also. Thank you for your post, it was very thoughtful and gave me some positive things to think about, sir. Chris
  24. These are probably the best 4 ideas here, actually. Chris
  25. Grand Canyon
