  1. 2009 will be very bleak indeed, methinks... Chris
  2. I used to live in Atlanta, and I drove past the Doraville plant every day on the way to work. Has it been shuttered yet, or is it still building minivans for fleet and Canadian sale? BTW, what part of Atlanta did you live in? Chris
  3. I'm going to get banned or flamed for agreeing with you, but this might just work. And I like the idea of a modern "Grand National" Chris
  4. Honda kinda dropped the ball on the latest Civic. We looked at a new Civic when we bought our Miata...my wife actually lefgt the showroom crying after test driving the Civic. She hated the dashboard, the styling, the way the car drove, the car rattled, the salesperson was arrogant, they hinted that they wanted lisst or else.... I'm not impressed with the latest Civic, and our little test drive made me a whole lot less impressed. The Mazda 3 is a much more rational choice if you want a car to compete with the Cobalt. And the Mazdaspeed 3 is about ten times the car the Civic SI is. Hell, the GTI Volkswagen is also a much better car IMHO. Chris
  5. Ouch...only 265 Sky sales...astra is tanking worse than ever....OUCH! Local Saturn Dealer is advertising the 2009 Astra at something like 12,500with alloys, etc. GM can't be making any money at this price. Chris
  6. Wow. CARBIZ, hope I'm not crossing the line, but your mother was/is a beautiful woman! My 55 chevy was two tone blue and white, (Skyline blue and india ivory) and my 57 chevy was two tone blue and white (India Ivory and Larkspur blue). I love 1950's two tone cars...which is why the modern MINI is perhaps one of the few "newer" cars I can stomach. Chris
  7. Actually, even astin-martin is cutting production... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081201/ap_on_..._aston_martin_2 Chris/66
  8. I do like seeing the ebay links in the lounge though. It is nice to dream about cars you can't afford/shouldn't bring home... Chris
  9. What are YOU thinking, though, Satty about a car? The wagon won't last forever, and with a child you'll eventually need a more family type of vehicle. Chris
  10. Two tone green just looks right on a lot of 50's cars. Thanks for the pic, balthazar. Chris
  11. The foglights are nice, I have them on the Miata and use them all of the time. You will like this car SOOO much better than the Prius. Although they are supposedly bringing out a Prius pickup. Suppose we'll see Camino with one of those in his garage? (Chris ducks for cover...) Chris
  12. It's going to be a very rough 2009 for the whole industry. Chris
  13. Saw tho really clean 69-72 Chevy shortbeds...one was red and white two tone, and one was a medium green...both were in good shape. Chris
  14. Being a fake GTO would ruin it. Chris
  15. Thinking more and more a MINI might make it into my garage...and yes, you'll notice that I didn't list the American flag as an option. But since Canada and Britain have had closer ties, somehow a Canadian flag doesn't seem wrong.\ Hopefully she didn't get the sport suspension or it will ride a little rough... The white wheels kick butt, though... Chris
  16. A nice, clean Buick is waiting for you, Pauli. Things will get better. I've noticed that you have a certain passion for life and what you do, and passion has carried me through lots of tough times in my life. Probably not politically correct at all for a father to say, but I actually hope my children enjoy sex. I want my daughters to find great guys and get the screwing of the century. And this is my hope for you...a screwing by a great guy IN the Century.... I still laugh my ass off when I think about your post about the guys butt and the horn when you two were parked. Keep kicking, dude....we here at C and G are pulling for you. Chris
  17. Hey, vonVeezelsnider, I think about you, Carbiz, Harley Earl, and all of the other Canadian posters here every time I go to a Columbus Blue Jackets hockey game and see the Canadan flag. (assuming we're playing a Canadian team) ...and then I cuss the Canadians when we have our ass handed to us. Actually, we are improving....slowly. Chris
  18. I'd actually like to see the G5 concept evolve somewhat. I think there is a market for a car at a price point between the Cobalt and the MINI. The Cobalt is a low dollar, low profit car...local paper has 2009 autotrajic Cobalts for under ten grand. GM can't make money at that price. But if they could go about a third more expensive than the Cobalt and package the car nicely, I think that there would be a market. Not everyone is into dropping 25k into a small car and buying a GTI or MINI...but Volkswagen does get loyal buyers for the Rabbit. Pontiac needs a piece of that pie. Chris
  19. Actually, in 1921 GM thought about killing Chevrolet, saying there was no money in/market for the brand. I'll wager they are glad they didn't do THAT. Chris
  20. I'm just the opposite, the checkerboard is the must have. Although the Union Jack is cool also. If I were Canadian, I'd put the Canadian flag on the roof.... Chris
  21. If one could fit into it. I think the Aveo would be a better car for NYC. A Miata top is easily slashed (unless you get a hardtop) and a MINI will draw attention to itself and invite theft and vandalism. The Aveo is very easy to park, my mother has one. Double parking is a breeze. The MINI and Miata are two of my fav. cars...but I love GM also. Chris
  22. The SUV is a very, very bad idea. Off topic, but this is why I think it is a bad idea to kill saturn. MINI and Scion are pretty much one hit wonders...Saturn has established itself as a decent brand with a sports car, creative compacts, crossovers, family cars, etc. I'd like to see Saturn live, but methinks I'm in the minority here. Chris
  23. I love it when cars are left in colors other than red, black or blue. Gold FTW! Chris
  24. I'd prefer it without the sunroof...but yes, one of my top 5 modern cars, for sure. Right now I want to have a three car fleet-1 Japanese car, 1 American car, one Euro car. Chris
  25. THe G8 is growing on my on a daily basis. Pontiac just builds such cool V8 cars. I saw a yellow GTO (modern 2004/2205) the other day God, I want a V8 car back in the fleet again. Sixty Eight, do you think we could rob a bank and perhaps buy the Pontiac Wagon that Camino just posted??? Chris
