  1. It may seem like you get no break, but it seems that God or nature or whomever has made you a basically smart, ethical, compassionate person who loves children, loves teaching, and is working to better himself. That may be all the break you actually need. Chris
  2. I'm strait but...move here to Columbus Ohio, seriously. We are a very gay friendly city, the price of living is low, and there are TONS of guys in serious relationships or looking for serious relationships. My family goes to resteraunts/library/shops in the German Villiage area of Columbus, which is kind of the gay ghetto of the city. I know lots of gay men, most of them very attached to a long term partner. My mom is convinced that I would be better if I just believed God's words, as is my teenaged (17 yr old) daughter. However, I've never seen God's word, only the words of some really screwed up bronze age goat and camel herders who thought they had Gods word. Good luck with your mother, I know I'll never change mine. My Safari Van took an aquarium load of water when we had a flash flood. I was driving down spring street of all places when a wave hit the van during a big downpour. So I need to take cash out of savings and buy a car this weekend. One car for a family of 7 (wife and 5 kids) isn't working too well. As for the principal thing, the owner of my company is a goiod friend and a good guy but he is having problems running our electrical company. Last week he handed me the prints to a Chinese resteraunt that we were wayyy behind on (four month project, 2 days before turnover, job maybe 20% done) and says 'get it done." Got it done, took a week, but they should open Monday or Tuesday. Due to the poor planning of others, we've had to pull 4 other jobs out of the fire and I haven't gotten a day off in over a month. 14 hours of work on a Sunday is a bit much. My father in law taught school and his principal was a complete utter dickhead asshole of the century. I can really relate to where your at brother. I wonder often about what's going on with you, and will be thinking of you as you deal with this...which won't help much but you've got an electrician buddy in Ohio who shares your pain. As for the house thing, I could solve a lot of my problems by moving to a city with a better employment market for electrical work, but I'm stuck taking a lot less for my house here than I want if I do move. So I can feel the pain on the apartment thing. Sounds like you've got similar pains in life to me, and in a strange sort of way that makes me feel a little bit better. Sorry for the rant, good luck with things, and if you want a serious guy, seriously, try Columbus, Ohio. Chris
  3. I would like to know WHY this car isn't getting better press/more people don't like it. Even with the price of fuel I am seeing very few on the road-I haven't seen one in the wild for a couple of weeks now, and this thing should be selling like hotcakes. Scares me for the future of GM. They've needed a great small car for years, they bring one out and no one cares. Chris
  4. Oh, and when I took my required OSHA 10 hour safeto class, it was taught by an ex-GM employee who stressed how far out in front of the curve GM was in the 1960's and 1970's in terms of worker safety. I think GM has a legitimate track record of taking better care of its employees than toyota and Co. Chris
  5. As much as I just utterly hate unions, I trust corporations/management/the guy in the front glass office even less. Chris
  6. Seriously, though, I'd rather have a post/B pillar car in a tri-5 Chevy. My 57 Chevy was a proper hardtop and my 55 was a post and I just like the post car better...prob. because all of the old stock cars, gassers, and such were post cars, as well as the car in American Graffiti... Saw a beautiful gold 442 W-30 post car the other day, wouldn't kick it out of the garage... That being said, I love true hardtops. The Camaro looks great in white in the linky... As does the GTI Volkswagen... Chris
  7. ...again, Fly glad to see you back... Chris
  8. Here's again to a speedy recovery of the 'balt...shame it had to happen to such a nice car... Chris
  9. Hopefully this scare will point us towards alternate sources. Chris
  10. Nice to see your off on a project...keep us posted. XP, I know of a railroad crossing where the trains run through at 80 miles per hour, and it's busy....maybe you and I can put this thing out of its misery. Seriously though, once you love a car its hard to give it up. Chris
  11. You are right, nothing built today holds a candle to this... Chris
  12. First gen TT was an awesome car, second gen a little bland... Really like the R8, and how can you argue with winning Lemans? Chris
  13. Vote republican, you;ll get all the lies and cheating you can handle...Oh wait, this isn't supposed to be a political forum. Chris
  14. Audi is just sooo sweet. Real Jeeps are cool, Patriots are not so much... The last Chrysler product I really liked was the prowler, as well as the LX series cars and the first gen Neon. Chris
  15. Join the SCCA and become a corner worker, you'll see LOTS of people do stupid stuff and wreck cars. It's especially fun when they wreck Vipers. I just love seeing damn near any MOPAR product destroyed. Chris
  16. Keep us posted, like I said this Sucks! Chris
  17. I just love that car, and the earlier version of that car. The three Japanese cars that I really, really love... First gen 240Z car First gen RX-7 First/Second Gen Miata That Z is an awesome driver, and my kind of car, auto non-withstanding. That being said, I've been looking at a couple of Aurora's. Maybe we have more in common than I thought...welcome back, Fly! Chris
  18. IMHO Bush has done more damage to the U.S. than any other president ever. Chris
  19. This is why Honda is one of my fav. car companies. Just gotta love Honda technology. Chris
  20. Last car show I attended was won by a really nice 55 red on white 2 door hardtop...guy bought the car for $53,000 and then stripped it down to the frame for a nut and bolt rebuild. Fabulous car, but the guy has about 130k in it... Beyond my budget for sure... Chris
  21. Keep us posted dude, I am sooo sad and angry about this...hell I don't know you personally and this thing has gotten me torn up. Keep us posted for real. Chris
  22. Satty, the rise in $ is why I no longer drive "Classics." I sold my 55 a few years ago....you can still find decent drivers for about 15-20k for tri-5 chev's. Chris
  23. Keepus posted on Kim...is she going to be all right? My wife's name is Kim and I am just sick at the thought of your Kim being hurt... Chris
  24. Buy the worlds cleanest first gen Neon for both and call it a day. Our old Totaled van like your moms is still at the body shop about 3 years later, it was fixed and puyt back on the road and then the tranny blew. 60k orig miles, white, and I might be able to get it for you with a tranny for your mothers price limit. PM me if your interested. I',m also potentially just junking my old Mazda, would sell it for a song to your brother if he can drive manual... Again PM me if your interested. Also know of a clean Ford Contour automatic car that might fall in range... Chris
