  2. ^ I don't know the merits of a convertible in a place where the air is so thick you can spread it on your toast.
  3. I'd rather have the Equus from a styling and interior perspective. I just wish you could get a bit better gas mileage with it.
  4. The MKZ is nice looking in person, pity about the build quality.
  5. There's a huge market about to be up for grabs for a car like this- The Eos and C70 are being shown the door soon (next year?) and the status of the Lexus IS, Infiniti, and Chrysler 200 models aren't exactly certain either. Other than BMW/Audi/Mercedes, what does that leave you with?
  6. The Standard of the World is fine. Still, this has to play globally and the tagline about luck probably plays better in China than the Standard of the World does.

  8. I've seen quite a few of these new Outlanders on the roads in recent months, but not one of them was a non-fleet vehicle...
  9. My money is on the 95% production ready sedan at next year's Pebble Beach with the production car @ NY or Detroit following in 2015 for a Q1 2016 release.

  11. If they build this (or a sedan version) then they will have made the first car in a long time that I am actually rather angry I can't afford. Simply beautiful from all angles. I expect we will get to see live shots of it on the lawn tomorrow where I expect all sorts of neat details will 'pop'. I even like the logo- if they were going to change it, I think they have the right idea- just needs a "V" underneath. Bravo to Ed W. and crew on another tour de force!
  12. I heard a while back about a Phoenix area outfit that was converting G8s into Sportwagons and Utes a while back... can't remember the name or if they're still in business. Maybe they've got something to do with this sighting. Hmmm...could be..this was on University in Tempe just south of the airport, west of 143... I read about it on some website a couple years ago but never got around to swinging by when I was in the area. I can't for the life of me find the link, might have to dig it up; I want to say that the place was either in south Scottsdale or maybe somewhere around Park Central but my memory could be flawed.

  14. Indeed you are right, I've seen this on a few lighter colored Titanium models up here, but I don't see the same thing on the LaCrosses or Lexuses (Lexiii?) that I also come across. The Fusion I rented was a rare well-equipped SE Luxury model with the 2.0T Ecoboost and the fascia exhaust and did not observe this over the week I had the car, but it only had about ~2000mi on it when I picked it up and I put about 1400mi on it.

With reference to the rear seats in the 2013 Fusion vs. the Malibu, I rented one (the Ford that is) at Christmastime in Arizona and found that the front seats have *a lot* of fore/aft travel relative to other midsizers I've sampled/rented recently which makes the rear seem smaller with the seats pushed closer to their limit. In reality I found that for effective space and comfort along with ingress and egress, the Ford compares very favorably with my mother's Malibu Maxx, only wider- and over the years I've always felt no deficit of rear seat stretch out room in that car desipte its other shortcomings. Fusion's also got longer rear doors and, thus, longer openings than the current 2013 Malibu which creates the impression of space as well. No one manufacturer's measurements can be reliably compared to others, even across different models from the same manufacturer. These comparisons are best made in person as many on this site have done and posted about from time to time. I'm about 5'11 and of average build and I was actually very comfortable sitting behind myself in the Fusion, the accomodations seemed nearly cathedrallike compared to the penalty-box that is the rear of my Impala, which doubles as a torture chamber since you can't get your feet under the front seats even with your shoes off and if the front seats are markedly back, requires a contortion routine for ingress and egress due to the huge front seats and small rear doors. The build quality/fit & finish issue is a whole other kettle of fish and the 2013 Malibu kicks the crap out of the Fusion in that contest, but that's another discussion for another time. The current Malibu already has more foot room and ingress/egress space than the W-Body but it's not great compared to other cars in its class.
  17. I doubt it will be cheaper than an Equus, but might split the difference between it and the Lexus LS460. For a first-gen car they can't charge S-Class prices right away. I would expect a starting price somewhere between 65k-70k.
  18. I found that interesting, but a couple people in that big GMI thread on the cancellation of the UltraLux Cadillac who claimed to be in "the know" stated that mules have been out and about for a little while already.
  19. I was surprised to see three Tesla Model S in the last couple of months in Calgary, but I have only ever seen one Fisker Karma on the road and that was in the sunbelt.

Exactly. and besides, it's always been my opinion that the topper on Cadillac's lineup that would garner the most buzz would always be a well styled big Coupe (potentialy a convertible option too) like an Eldorado or something that would go against the Mercedes CL. Certainly from someone who would prefer to see some variety in the lineup at least, two big sedans doesn't make an awful lot of sense at this point in time. It's pretty crazy that they were seriously thinking about building a RR competitor in the first place, and who knows? Maybe it will happen someday. One thing is for certain, in order to sell a car like that and be taken seriously, perhaps even to sell a CL competitor or an S-Class competitor, there are other things they need to do first. We are just now seeing how much traction they have gained with the ATS, and the sales of the CTS will really be anybody's guess at this point. Additionally, Cadillac's dealer and customer experience are just not at the level they need to be. If there isn't an internal goal to offer the same level of service that Lexus does within five years, then people need to be fired. You can't sell a $200k + sedan out of dealerships that look like this: Or this: Come on.
  21. Today I saw a 2011 Impala LT, white with orange stripes down the hood and trunk like the 1969 Indy 500 Camaro Pace Car. In Derek's pictures you really see that contrast between the XTS and the '14 Impala in the rear there, I think the Chevy team paid way more attention to how the lines on their car concluded. I've always found the styling of the XTS to be a little unsettling, esp. from the B-Pillar to the Trunklid, although I wish they carried over the very heavily defined taillamps from that model to the new CTS as well.
  22. The best selling car in Canada? I don't think so for some reason. It will live on up here at least.
  23. Buick Cascada. Lots of room to grow with the C70 going away and the IS-C, Eos and 200 Convertible having rather uncertain futures.
  24. I notice the option packaging is very similar to the ATS on the non-Vsport models...
  25. Cadillac's really on fire. Will be interesting to see where things are next year with the CTS online.
