  1. This. I've been to Arizona fairly regularly since was a kid and I've seen this issue get bigger and bigger every time I'm there, especially in Mesa and Apache Junction... I don't know if the bill is right either but I did discuss it with my dad (ex RCMP) and he said that any good cop would probably use it in a responsible way- like if you've already pulled someone over and they don't have a US Drivers license or reasonable suspicion; just like you would with anything else there has to be probable cause. Just pulling Hispanics aside on the street would constitute harassment and I don't think that was the actual aim of this law.
  2. Yours is much less ugly than mine was...
  3. 9/11, I wasn't quite around yet when the wall came down. Never going to forget that day- was in the 6th Grade. I was still asleep when it initially happened- my mom dragged me out of bed at quarter to seven in the morning and I was glued to the TV until I went to school.
  4. Ever since I was maybe three years old when I was mesmerized by this logo... I've been a big fan of the Ford Thunderbird- still dream of owning one of the 2000s era "Retro-birds" complete with removable hardtop someday.
  5. I don't like Harley's taste in colors but otherwise it's a beauty!
  6. In terms of durability weren't the 96+ E-Class and M-Class more of the issue?
  7. That really will make a dent in CAFE as they also class the HHR as a light truck I recently found out.
  8. It's all about practicality, my friend, practicality
  9. Now that is WIN.
  10. Make the Regal as a wagon and there's no question- Regal 2.0T.
  11. The current Lancer is a piece of crap... if I don't have to see them on dealer lots anymore I'm going to be a happy camper indeed.
  12. Getting into better shape and losing maybe fifteen pounds wouldn't hurt me... but in all honesty I have to get the depressive-eating monkey off my back first.
  13. I see quite a few clean H-Bodies from the 1980s (esp Olds and Buick) but everything else seems to be a massive rust bucket.
  14. My understanding is that you can't register it for use again as you can't get a new insurance policy on it. Parting it out or auctioning it to a parting company is okay however. It is that way because of a class action appeal (in the early-mid 1990s IIRC), but sure enough it was the case with my late grandfather's 1996 Windstar after it was totaled in a collision in 2003. Even though my grandfather had already taken the 8000 odd dollars and used it towards his 2001 Caravan Sport, he still could have taken the old van back. It was discussed at length between my dad and my grandfather at the time that he could always have it towed from the Calgary Police Department impound yard back to the house but there was a question of having the space to part out the vehicle and finding a buyer for the parts. He decided against it and just left it in the yard... after a while the insurance company stopped paying for the impound fees and he got a letter in the mail saying he had 7 days to get his vehicle out and pay the fees or the police would put it to auction themselves to cover the fees.
  15. I've seen the commercial, it's not the lever, it's the knob (like off a manual stick-shift) As an aside, where I live (Alberta) if your car is totaled in an accident and the insurance company sends you a cheque for what it's worth, you still OWN the car. I know that it's different in other jurisdictions but here, the insurance company isn't legally permitted to take ownership of the car. You can't re-register it for use on the road but you are allowed to part it out and sell the parts or put it up for auction.
  16. I don't like the styling of the Focus from the B-Pillar forward on the sedan, and the hatchback not at all. Seems busy for my tastes and overstyled... there's too much going on, especially in the front fascia. I think the Cruze also has a classier looking interior with the Dual-Cockpit styling which is something that makes the Ford interior look clunky and less imaginative (same case if you compare Malibu vs. Fusion).
  17. Curb weight on the 2001 L200 with the 2.2L 135hp I4 was 2960lbs... a euro-spec 1.8L Auto Cruze has a curb weight of just under 2900lbs but I'd expect an LT or LTZ with the extra sound insulation and NA-Spec equipment but the lighter 1.4L engine to be 100lbs heavier than that.
  18. One of my cousins had a similar truck and the only real issues he had with it had to do with the heating system (typical Dodge).
  19. That video is from 2009 Detroit autoshow before the full NA spec features were revealed. The one we're going to get will have a standard folding seat, and they also got the trunk size wrong... it's close to 15 cubic feet rather than 13 as they said
  20. The Cruze, as I can see uses that same cloth material and pattern that the Equinox and Terrain use.
  21. I really hate the new cloth Chevy and Pontiac use on their cars- like in our Malibu and Cobalt. It's like rodent fur... Pretty much the only way you avoid it in GM cars is to get a Lucerne or Impala.
  22. The Cruze is an inch wider, nine inches shorter, has 1 inch less wheelbase... all considered that's not bad.
  23. Of all the Bangle cars the only ones I can tolerate the sight of are the: 1-Series 3-Series Z4
  24. Since I have a high school diploma, I would concur.
  25. I'm speaking from the Canadian perspective. We don't have the kind of comprehensive dealer network America has because we have like 10% the population density. In America it's not hard to find, as I've seen, a good selection of loaded up year-old Cobalts and Malibus in all sorts of colors and option packages, but up here I've been seeing no more than 5 used 2LT Malibus and 2 used LTZ Malibu in the course of a given year in the city+surrounding area. The bulk of everything else is dominated by the standard fleet-fare LS and occasionally 1LTs.
