Good idea doing this. Light years nicer than Toyota's own Yaris hatch, I suspect. -

Chevrolet News:Chevy Removing Blazer Display After Backlash

That one kid, Hyundai, is doing it with the Venue. -
Dude came in a couple of days ago with his comical sidekick. He had an accident, and wanted to talk to me about a couple of things so I could start off on the right foot with his repair. His car was to be towed in to our shop later that day. "I need you to know, my car is a High Bird, it's a special car..." "Yes, I see here on the paperwork, you mean it is a Camry Hybrid, right?" "Yeah, it's a High Bird" I had to keep a straight face through this ordeal.

That's pretty... it's not a fastback/Sedanette though, right?

Chevrolet News:Chevy Removing Blazer Display After Backlash

Well the current Trax and Sonic are on the same platform. I don't see the Trax going lower in price for the next round... it is already $31k fully loaded, and starts at about $19k before GM's ubiquitous incentives. They will need something cheaper than Trax at the entry level... Spark Activ seems like a non-starter so far though, at around $17.8k to start (have not seen ONE on the road here, anecdotally). Anything electric will be uber expensive and far above what they have out now. Entry level buyers are SOL and are being steered toward the used car market, which turns the entry level market into a free-for-all, because used car buyers are less picky about brand than new car buyers (stands to reason). And GM is not alone in this heinous development. -
Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-Benz Introduces the A 35 Sedan

I like the looks of the vinyl seats in the Escape and Edge, Ford has a goofy name for the material, like a lot of OEMs. The new Mazda 3 has nice leatherette seats... Mazda calls them leatherette. For Chevy Cruze's last year, the Premier model did away with leather and went with leatherette, and ppl complained... not realizing that GM was doing them a favor... (unless GM's leatherette is thin and crappy, I haven't fondled it). We had a very high mileage first-gen Spark come in with its vinyl seats in TATTERS... the vinyl coating suffered a catastrophic failure and the woven cloth underlayment was visible. Not all vinyl/leatherette is created equal. If I were to get a Chevy WT regular cab, I would go with the vinyl seat covering... a lot easier to keep clean (although the alternative black cloth is not too bad I guess). -
I do not believe union and non-union workers are differently abled... a quality car starts with engineering, and that includes setting up the assembly process for the workers to succeed. I do believe there is a lot of pride...still... in autoworkers buying (and sticking up for) the brand they work for. For GM to not even consider how it might affect loyal workers by displaying the Blazer in such a manner amplifies the point that they expect loyalty (and all that goes with it... job attendance, lack of sabotage on the line, etc.) out of their workers... but they do not feel beholden to them for the same courtesy... IN MICHIGAN, OF ALL PLACES. Yes... I drive a Mexican-built Jeep Compass right now. I have not forgotten that fact. But I am a patriotic American, and I will NOT denigrate American workers who have been betrayed. You see what GM did in response... they put a Traverse up there and took the Blazer down...

Haha... right! Seemed a little frumpy to me, that is why I was assigning it to those other makes... was being snobbish toward Nash (Packard was stuffy and dull during this time, imo), which I always liked, BTW. Nash 600 -

Mercedez Benz News Mercedes-Benz Introduces the A 35 Sedan

MB-Tex is a high quality seat material, and has been in use for many decades, no getting around it. A lot of vehicles are offering leatherette these days. Several years ago I had a lady come in for an estimate, she called in an insurance claim because she spilled fingernail polish on her BMW seats and she was panicked over it. I told her I could clean it up in a few minutes for her with some paint thinner, no charge, and she informed me that she did not want paint thinner used on her leather seats. I had to break it to her... they were vinyl (I do not remember BMW's term for it), and the thinner would not harm the material. She was very angry with me for telling her her BMW seats were not leather. I told her her seats were more durable than leather, and easier to clean... she was still mad at me. See what I get for trying to be nice to ppl? I have a suspicion that salespeople do not try to set customers straight when they are selling a car (luxury brand or not) with high quality vinyl seats... people are not reading the window sticker or have a clue... they believe they are getting cowhide, and they are proud sumbitches... -
God, I cannot tell my late-40's-very early-50's fastbacks from this distance... is that a Nash? Packard? HELP ME YOU WILL, YODA! ?♂️

I have a feeling GM is going to need to ramp up incentive spending on the new trucks. The recent Blazer baseball park fiasco is an indicator that people remain unhappy about Barra's ungratefulness... which shows in deeds, whatever comes out of her mouth.

Pulled in to Hondru Ford in Manheim and what do I see... a Ranger XL Super Cab 4X4 with chrome package, bedliner and locking diff, in white. Was stoked and possibly would have had a moment of weakness... but alas, it was a sold unit. This was the first XL I've seen with chrome package, it looks really good. I like how Ford has trimmed the Ranger similar to the F-series... base XL being available with Sport or Chrome dress-up packages. Salesdude talked me into driving an XLT SuperCrew 4X4, my first time behind the wheel... VERY COMFORTABLE SEAT AND RIDE. I was very pleased with the quiet, smooth ride. The power seems fine, as it should with 310 pounds of torque. Hmmmm.... EDIT: odd thing, the "sold unit" in question had alloys, but Ford's Build & Price site states alloys are not available as part of the XL Chrome package... even as an additional upgrade... only XL to get alloys is the STX...

The new Accent hatchback, available elsewhere, is a good looking little car. The Kona, is it supposed to correspond with the Elantra then? I was thinking Kona = Accent, Tucson = Elantra, Sante Fe = Sonata. The lower trimmed Kona interior is drab as hell. The only Kona interior I like is the Limited/Ultimate in black leather with lime accents. Will be interesting to see how the Venue is trimmed.

I like that orange thing, it has a distinctive face (but derivative sides and rear) however the Borrego update seems off-puttingly blingy to me for some reason.
