Drew is a real car guy if things like this cross his mind.

Twice now, since the weather has dipped into the 20's, my car has shown that it still can have old-school diesel tendencies. It does NOT like to start in cold weather. First time I thought it might be a fluke related to being low on fuel, but the same thing happened evening before last, after sitting outside all day @ work with 3/4 of a tank. It takes me like a dozen tries to keep it running. I push the clutch in, hold down the starter button, and when the glowplug light goes out, it tries to start, but shuts off immediately. It is my opinion that this should not happen in a modern, computer controlled diesel car with properly functioning glowplugs. 25 degrees out, both times. I wonder if there is a fuel conditioner I can put in the tank that VW recommends to remedy this, or if there is something going on somewhere else. We used to plug in my uncle's Ford F-250 diesels, and our John Deeres when it got really cold. Not sure if this car has a block heater, to be honest. But I have no place to plug it in @ work anyway. Wouldn't it be ironic if I find I should be electrifying my diesel VW?

I am sure they take a ton of effort to crank. Tell me more about those biceps.

A ton of gizmos has sent customer satisfaction (example: MyFordTouch?) into the crapper. We do not need a ton of gizmos!

Industry News: Suzuki: Kizashi A "Headache"
ocnblu replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
I am under the impression that the only thing weird about the car was the name. Variants noted in article sound somewhat awesome. -
Not sure if diagnosis is correct, seems so. Used supercharger and attendant parts would be WAY cheaper. Make calls. Good luck. Car is worth saving.

LA Auto Show: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Revealed: Comments
ocnblu replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in LA Auto Show
Great news for 2015 Colorado fans! Two new colors have shown up on the Chevy website: Laser Blue and Rally Yellow! So now they are showing TEN available exterior colors for the new truck. A good sign that GM is waking up to the fact that people like a lot of color choices. -
Jay thanks for calling a spade a spade. We cannot ignore the truth. Anyone who works around different kinds of cars knows that what you say about the humble little Yaris, and the Echo before it, is true. My mother still, from time to time, brings up her fond memories of the Echo she owned, that is, until I talked her into a Cobalt, which she never liked.

I am glad to see that, too. But Volkswagen has a daunting task ahead of them if they want to set their US sales on fire. It just ain't happenin'. Not sure what the problem is. I am about to turn over 13k miles of trouble-free driving so far. I know that's still a drop in the bucket. But all of my previous 4 Volkswagens had at least one visit to the dealer for ridiculous warranty work well before this mileage. My second new '98 Beetle didn't even make it through the first weekend of ownership... it overheated due to an assembly problem that wasn't caught at pre-delivery inspection, and it all went downhill from there. Based on my previous experience with these cars, I've always loved the special driving characteristics, and the tank-like "thunk" of the doors, hood and trunk in operation. This is my first diesel VW, and I am more than pleased with the 2.0L TDI. I feel that I went out on a limb with this car, knowing that my previous VWs have all had something go wrong. So far, I've been rewarded for doing so. We'll see what the future brings.

Ram News: Ram Finally Confirms Small Cargo Van, To Be Named ProMaster City
ocnblu replied to William Maley's topic in Ram
GM needs to get their small commercial vanlet out fast. The Transit Connect is still the coolest, but the PMCity is right there with it, nearly. The CityExpress is not good looking, NV200 is absolutely woeful, plus it has a garbage CVT. I wonder if the Ram tiny will have two lemfs, or will it stick with one. I imagine the big black nose on the giant ProMaster is for quick change ease in case of an accident, perhaps it is one big assembly that comes off as a unit.- 20 replies

Are they Heart fans? This is a really cool package, imo. I think Dodge has done a great job with the Challenger with this generation.- 11 replies

Mr. dfelt, that's the fullsize ProMaster, not the little ProMaster City in your photo. Here's the Doblo/ProMaster City.- 20 replies

Cadillac News: Cadillac ELR Pricing Set at $75,995
ocnblu replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Cadillac
Hahaha... OMG... Cadillac is actually saying the ELR will be cross-shopped with the BMW 6-Series! -
A distinct lack of coupes makes this somewhat hard to swallow. We know people are looking for something sporty and more upscale than a Chevy... since Pontiac was killed by Obama, Buick is all that's left. So if GM wants to keep those customers in the fold, they need SOMETHING. A Verano GS sounds fine to me, as does a LaCrosse GS... but without the romantic aspect of a coupe bodystyle, I do not feel it as deeply as I should. EDIT: crazy thought... Encore GS with lowered AWD chassis and a 2.0T!

Here we are, nearly another full year in the history books. Post here if you spot a Holiday Coupe, any car with a Northstar engine, a Jeep Arctic Edition, or anything in between that's out of the ordinary!

I am pleased to see the internet blow up over this new truck... it has certainly gotten more attention than any other L.A. debut. Or am I biased?- 16 replies
