  1. Our area is not known for tornadoes, and who would have thought one would occur anywhere on October 19th? Very freaky, imo. Yes, underground storm shelters should be a part of everyone's houseplans in some especially vulnerable parts of the country, imo.
  2. But there comes a point where a vehicle structure should not be repaired. First, for safety, and then there is a long list after that.
  3. I was regularly amazed at some of the reactions from people when told their vehicle was found to be a total loss by the insurance company.
  4. Went lot cruising this afternoon. Mineral Green 2013 GMC Sierra color is awesome, with coarse metallic that really comes alive in the sun. Shame it comes only in a special edition package with chrome handles, mirror caps and side molding trim, and most likely only in the crew or extended cab bodystyles. I'll have to research that. 2013 Fusions are really nice. They look huge in person, could be because of the predominant horizontal disposition of the bodylines. Local dealer has two SEs, one at $24k, one with luxury package at like $27k, and a Titanium... that listed for $34k, gee whiz. Subaru XV Crosstreks are in, and they're much cooler looking than their Impreza hatch fraternal twins... pretty sweet for what little they did to transform it. A lift kit, lower textured moldings, and a black and machined wheel make a good bit of difference in attitude, imo.
  5. The 4.1L V6 was a Buick motor.
  6. Yeah, that's what her worry is. But this time it missed her community by a mile... or so. It did tear up a little independent bodyshop that always seems to have interesting cars out front... and knocked down barns, twisted the tops out of trees and full-on pushed quite a few over, some onto the roofs of houses.
  7. *steely-eyed stare* is that a winter driving joke?
  8. I really don't see how a rusted frame is wholly responsible for this predicament. Look how deeply dented the cab is where the bed meets it. I think it was "helped" somehow, maybe by loading something really heavy in the bed ahead of the axle line. I've never seen a GM truck frame fall in half like this from rust alone. It really makes no sense, especially when the body appears so intact. Around my area of the country, these trucks rusted out at the cab corners and over the rear wheel arches, but I have yet to see one sagging from a rusty frame.... after a rear-end accident, yes.
  9. I agree with this wholeheartedly. Faith should be an intensely personal thing, kept private.
  10. OK, it appears you fixed it for me. Am I right?
  11. Hmm... dude seems to be arousing suspicions...
  12. This tank was 21.6 mpg, a bit better. $43.76 to fill up. 253.5 miles on this tank.
  13. I wonder if my problem is gluten. I have stomach issues. Since I started my last job, I quit the gym completely, simply because of the grueling hours. I was so tired when I got home, and it was all for nothing. I use that powdered buttermilk for recipes. I bought a bag of Bob's Red Mill Steel Cut Oats, followed the directions for breakfast cereal, blew up like a blimp, and produced enough gas to piss off that old crackpot queen Al Gore. I wonder if a little bit of baking soda added to the water would help?
  14. There are positive and negative points to this.
  15. As my mother ages, she's gotten pretty frightened of thunderstorms, especially if there is a tornado watch involved. She lives in a trailer park, and keeps her little place neat as a pin. I guess having seen some of the destruction on the news over the years from storms in the midwest, has hightened her awareness. I usually use humor to try to calm her, and try to cite probability to show her that she'll be OK. Friday night, a tornado that was embedded in a thunderstorm, along with some destructive straight-line winds, blasted through her area, to within a mile of her home. She lost power, and said she heard a thunderous, constant roar for a while, but that she didn't feel it was that bad, until she got her power back, and saw the news. "Too close to home" is what she said, over and over, as I drove her around the country roads to survey the damage yesterday morning.
  16. Congratulations, although red is not my thing. The dash skull is wicked. I can understand and appreciate why you didn't want a crewcab longbed though. As this video illustrates, they're not very maneuverable in tight quarters:
  17. It looks like this here... pretty darn sexy, imo:
  18. I like this idea, mudmonster. A lot of stories packed in a relatively small space. Eyecatching!
  19. ??? They make thousands of "Love Ewe" dolls every day...
  20. I saw one one time with a plow on it, and a pretty high-wattage lightbulb went on in my head.
  21. 4WS didn't have enough takers, I guess. I imagine that system would be useful in a plowing situation. Not sure how reliable it was.
  22. Take 'er easy and have a good one, sir.
