  1. Bottom line is... Cadillac needs engines that are perceived as "better" than Chevrolets and Buicks. Cadillac is doing what Lincoln has done for decades... dropped unchanged Ford engines in their so-called luxury cars, with very few exceptions. With the demise of the Cadillac V8 (after what, 80 years?), Cadillacs are running engines that are in the cheapest GM cars made. That can be construed as heresy in a top-tier luxury make. It's just not done by top-tier makes. BMW and M-B don't have lower class cars to share mechanicals with, that's one thing that makes them seen as superior. Cadillac lost that important aspect when the Cadillac V8 was killed.
  2. Ehh, they'll hit 30 mpg or a little better on the open road.
  3. Folks, the Impala of 2014 has to be a Biscayne, Bel Air, Impala and Caprice, all in one nameplate. It has to be a rental car, a police car, a taxi, a family car, a sport sedan, a business fleet car, a highway traveler, and an old man's car. The old B-bodies were chameleons to cover market demands. This new one will have to do the same. Those who want a luxury car can go buy a Cadilla.

I'm bored with it and my postings over there show it, unfortunately. Mostly these days I just "like" what other ppl post. Also I cannot be snarky and "real" over there because too many family members are my "friends".
  5. The Cruze is a fantastic car, having owned a Cobalt and a Cruze myself. If a compact sedan were truly what I wanted, Cruze would be it. Jetta's nice, too. The Focus is, imo, overwrought and pricy for the class. The CX-5 looks great and sounds like the sportiest compact CUV available... remember though, the stickshift is only available on the FWD, not the AWD version.
  6. I sure do wish GM still sold a Pontiac and a Chevrolet affordably with RWD, 3.6L power and everyday practicality. The G8, if not sentenced to death, could have been even greater in a gen-II version, built in the US, with Pontiac bodywork in 2- and 4-doors. RWD Impala... wow, such a sad "what-if" scenario. As it is, it's Dodge/Chrysler all the way.
  7. The 2.0t and 3.6 are appropriate in the ATS... the 2.5 is not. I owned a 1.8t in a Volkswagen GTI, model year 2000. It was underrated at 150 hp (closer to 180, I understand). I wonder how those groundbreaking modern turbo 4s have held up over the last decade.
  8. Here I thought beige Camrys just putted along for 20 years like a refrigerator and then rusted into the ground. That's more excitement than a beige Camry has a right to.
  9. Even the base model is terrific, and it will be even sweeter when the 1.8L takes over from the 2.5... although the 2.5s I've driven have been fine, with a swell of torque that's reassuring.
  10. I wish a 2-door Dart were coming, in addition to the sedan and hatch. Even a 2-door hatch would be a real Swinger.
  11. For ballers of the highest magnitude... <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/N1AdWS3JaQ8?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  12. The front looks funny, as though it's missing a bumper. I am also intrigued by the front end's recollection to the GMT400, as has been stated here. And I see Ram MegaCab in the length of the rear door. Up to now for the last good while, I've been unhappy with GM's lack of color and trim variations as compared to Dodge and Ford. I hope that changes with these new ones. GM trucks have always been excellent, operationally, they're just a little bit... conservative.
  13. I'm already tired of seeing red when I see the Dart. I want to see it in a variety of colours. I'm excited about all the possibilities. I believe colour is an easy way to personalize a vehicle, and I see it as a rub-off of Fiat's influence on Chrysler. The little 500 shows that a wide range of colour options can enhance the desirability of a car. It adds to the fun of choosing just the right Dart R/T turbo manual.
  14. You always give us something to talk about when you post your latest work. Have a beer on me.
  15. 2012 Charger SXT, only option, 18" rims. Net MSRP after $1500 factory discount: $28,145. And I'm sure a good dealership would give a nice, further discount of their own. SXT is equipped just about right, imo, without going overboard.
  16. There is a clue in the description... naturally aspirated v. turbocharged. Turbochargers put an engine under stress that naturally aspirated engines aren't subject to.
  17. I like the stealthy nature of Firebird Formulas, more than Trans Ams a lot of years.

  19. The Equinox/Terrain need the 2.5L as base engine, stat!
  20. We had a hired hand with one, light blue 4X4 with the later, single headlamp front end. He ran the crapola out of that little thing. It was tough until oxidization showed it who was boss.

    Sandy Claws

Oy, Xmas is almost here, and I'm not really into it this year. I have cards here to sign, address and send. I have no gifts bought. I've gotta get off my butt and get it done. I did get the house decorated though. Took all of three minutes. I need some sort of Christmas Mackerel to get me in the spirit of the holiday. Any suggestions?
  22. What does this creepy e-assist thing do to weight distribution? Curb weight?
  23. The 3.6L is certainly understressed compared to the turned-up 2.0, that much is blatantly obvious.
  24. Seller is claiming real leather seats... I will need to research that, didn't know they were available. Pretty much rebadge city, but at least it has a Buick engine. Edit: I didn't find any reference to leather seat availability, but I did find out something ghastly about the 1974 Apollo model... it had a GSX trim package available, which consisted of ZERO performance enhancements. What a crappy way for Buick to send off the GSX nameplate, after the truly special A-body versions.
