  2. I would invite them to go on a bus ride. You see, nobody takes my food and survives.
  3. balthy: that's a damn FINE ASS '59 Pontiac in your sig. Sexy!
  4. vonVee, before I took delivery of my Sierra, I paid the dealership to install chrome mirror caps and door handles out of the GM Accessory catalog. So far, knock on wood, they've held up perfectly. Spot: a late-model Silhouette van in beige (totally invisible, right?) with a pair of loud, misaligned tailpipes sticking straight out under the rear bumper.
  5. You are so right, Oldsmoboi. Saturn has been a non-starter for years.
  6. I was a member of Costco for the first year I lived back in PA... but it dawned on me quickly that I didn't really save any money with the membership dues, when I don't have any use for a 20 lb barrel of cashews, or a 100-roll pack of Charmin that comes with wheels, it's so huge. At those package sizes, I'd be going once a year!

  8. The DP series didn't catch my attention until # XXV, the episode with no chicks.
  9. uh... mr. cat... Here, Spot!
  10. Mr. Shift, Golf Mk VI photos are all over the web just today, and you are right... the Scirocco looks like a squished Mk VI Golf/Rabbit. I like the Scirocco, but LOVE the sharper, new Golf Mk VI/Rabbit! Wow.
  11. The Opel Monza was a J-body, I think, smaller than an A-body.
  12. Batter UP!
  13. You need to get out of town, right now. That thing is amazing! What a treat to see such a clean example.

  15. The Corvair was so much better looking than the Chevy II that year, but I guess its unique mechanicals kept it out of the mainstream. I do like the '66-'67 and '68-'72 and '75-'79 Novas, however. The Corvair v. Chevy II exemplifies one of GM's problems: sometimes they have stuff that's too good for the mainstream. When they innovate, they suffer, it seems. Corvair = GM, Chevy II = Toyota. Toyota has succeeded at building millions of soulless, straightforward appliances (kind of like the 4 and six cylinder Chevy II were in comparison to the Corvair), something GM, and I, have never understood. Is it to our doom? Are people really that careless toward their cars?

  17. Well, let's see here Harley, my truck's back on the road. Most "laymen" couldn't tell it's been in 2 (ugh) accidents, but I can, and it bothers me. I used to keep it spotless all the time... but it's been several weeks since I've run it through the wash. Part of that, I guess could be attributed to the fact it's not "brand new" anymore, I took delivery in January of '07. I should go today and clean it up, it's still a handsome truck. My mom's car is on our frame machine. The trunk floor has been pulled back out, it looks very good. I am always amazed at how well a trunk floor pulls back to normal after it's been hit. The left frame rail was moved slightly inward, but everything will be fine with it. I just wish I could get the technician to work on it every day so she can have it back. She's lost her infatuation for her Kia Rondo rental and she calls me every day "where's my car... where's my car..." Yikes. So, that's all the news that's fit to print. Thanks fer askin', sir.

  19. I cannot even fathom this kind of thing. It's just too unreal.
  20. Hmmm... I've heard a lot about New Hope, but I've never been there. I'll have to check into it a bit closer.

  22. Whoa, I didn't even try that. And whoa, I am already thinking of different vehicles for my "two", it changes rapidly!
  23. I really hope a Pontiac version will have its own complete front and rear ends, along with interior, instead of the grille, carbon-fiber dash trim and taillights differences of today's G5. It deserves the same differentiation that set the Sunfire apart from the Cavalier... is that asking too much? I know it didn't cost much atall for GM to make the Sunfire a worthwhile alternative to the Cavvy.
  24. Yup, it's August... the "dog days" of summer. What have you seen out on the roads? This afternoon on the way home from a BBQ at my bro's house, I stopped at his local Chevy/Buick/Pontiac store. Aside from the really cool Stryker Blue '09 G8 GT they had, they also had 3 '09 Delta cars, two Cobalts and a G5... the Pontiac in Silver Green, a color I've been wanting to see for months. I feared there'd be too much blue in it, making it a sort of sickly teal color, but my fears were unfounded, imo. It's a goodlooking color, imo, and dark enough to show off the chrome exterior trim package that's available on Cobalts. For the last few weeks, I've been thinking an '09 Cobalt: 2LT (which sadly is automatic-only in '09, but I want the rest of the 2LT package, so...) R13 chrome package (grille, door handles, exhaust tip and foglamps) Pioneer stereo leather wheel and maybe a sunroof in Silver Moss with Ebony cloth. A short list of modifications: tinted windows and a 1" drop, courtesy of Eibach. The 2.2 VVT is rated at 24/33 with automatic, which is fine with me, I don't want those hard "economical" tires and crappy gearing of the 36 mpg cars.
