1. As soon as I bought the Bonneville in order to save money on my twice-a-week drives to NW DC... gas prices began to fall. I'm a month and change into my instructor position... and I thoroughly enjoy it.
2. They're probably already working on it now.
3. Yeah, my mom was telling me about how her folks down in central GA may be without gas also. Seriously, why the shortage down there and not the much denser Northeast?
4. $3.35 is the cheapest I've seen around my way recently. Poor DC... still in the $3.80s...
5. Don't give me ideas.
6. Just took the car for a wash earlier. As promised, though a day late, pics: Heaven compared to the Pathfinder: Two things I want to do to the car are replace the head unit (for some reason, the previous owner was ok with not having a CD player) and replace the headlight assemblies, because they're rather cloudy.

MLB Playoffs

Every year, every series, every sport even, I pick someone wrong, it seems. The CHC-LAD is still possible to go how I picked it, but it's not looking good for the home team.
8. Update from the Member's Rides section of The Lounge: Dave, I got it Tuesday, had it delivered to the house Wednesday. Thanks for the info, SAmadei... ... as it turns out, the passenger window was fixed by the time we took a drive on Tuesday. So no problems there. ... I'll probably have an antifreeze flush done before it gets cold. ... we put 30somethingK on an Intrepid (got it with 142K on the clock) and the tranny didn't drop. So in light of that, I can trust GM. ... I just joined Bonneville Forum earlier today. Like I said, there will be pics up tomorrow of the Cruise Missile.
9. Pizza Hut has been inconsistent as of late. I don't even like buying from the one nearest me now because there's just something... off with it.

First one I've heard pick those two teams. Anywhere.
11. Still, though, you know it's bad when Honda posts a double-digit drop.

Sorry, man... Generally, though, women don't go shopping for such products until it's "that time," so you, as a man, just happened to incur some wrath just because you're a man. Can't say I have that kind of scarring experience.
13. Around 52K miles, gold, everything but heated seats and CD player , and $8,149 before taxes and crap. I'll be looking to add a CD player soon and replace the cloudy headlight assemblies sometime later. Be a little bit of a project for me.
14. Hey C&Gers, I signed (most of) the papers on the Bonneville I'd been looking at since February (!). I take delivery of it tomorrow sometime (though, unfortunately, not in time for me to drive it to DC for class ). Got the 2-year warranty mainly 'cause we can't afford to replace a tranny anytime soon... that was about all that was extra that I paid for. Pics coming later this week... probably Thursday.

MLB Playoffs

Here go my picks, and I'm elated not to have to predict a game that contains any team from New York... ALDS: TB over CHW, BOS over LAA NLDS: MIL over PHI, CHC over LAD ALCS: BOS over TB in 6 NLCS: CHC over MIL in 5 WS: BOS over CHC in 7
16. Yesterday a man tried to sell me a '00 Maxima that had been through 2 accidents, and he got pissy when I said I wanted my wife to be in on the deal... Believe it or not, the matter of my wife was the deal-breaker over the accidents.

It's not so bad. I've bought pads for my wife since before we even got married. I think I've perfected the art of looking cool walking through WalMart while carrying a pack of Always®.
18. What would power a Malibu SS? I can guess on most of them, but the Epsilons are tricky. Also, how about bringing back Ultra for Buick?
19. I test-drove one a year or so ago (an '07, but not many changes between the two). My assessment would be the same as yours.
20. QUOTE(Pontiac Custom-S @ Sep 29 2008, 09:10 PM) I always preferred the hood of a Volvo. (View at your on risk!) http://xs231.xs.to/xs231/08401/wash-me439.jpg Srsly now?
21. I just looked it up on Wikipedia, and there is indeed a seismic zone in VA. Funny how they said the quake back in '03 could be felt all the way up to southern PA, but I was about a 3-hour drive from the epicenter and felt nothing.
22. BUMP! OK, so the Bonneville that I was talking about back in February? It's still there. Price: $8,149. And my wife likes it. Now, the only thing wrong with the car I've found is that the front passenger window doesn't move. I know it's not the switch because both switches (driver and passenger) don't move the window. My guess is it's the window motor... how much would it cose to replace one of those? Also, I heard that cars from this platform back in the day are somewhat known for dropping transmissions... how accurate is that, and how much to repair/replace (on average)? I'm still most likely getting the car... just want some more advice from the old guys.
23. I've been through hurricanes, so no problem there. I don't even flinch when there's a tropical storm warning. Earthquakes... believe it or not, back in '04 there was a small earthquake in Blacksburg, VA that could be felt on the northern part of campus. I was in my dorm on the southern part of campus, so I was surprised when my roommate came in telling me about the earthquake. To answer the question, though, I don't scare easy. I don't swim well, so maybe... a flood?
24. To answer the ORIGINAL question... I'm 25 and a grad student, so I'm not old enough or established enough to afford a Cadillac any time soon. Though Pontiac isn't nearly as exciting as it purports itself to be (save for the G8 and, according to others, the Solstice), it at least looks the part. Fun-looking and reasonably fun to drive is where Pontiac is now, and its lower price points are geared to younger potential buyers like me. If they kill Pontiac, and I want to buy a car that's most likely satisfying to drive, on the side of fun, it'd have to be a Camaro or a Caddy. But my wife has already said I can't get anything with two doors (thinking ahead to when we have kids). And I won't be able to afford a Cadillac for a few years yet... plus, there's no official word on what's to become of the STS replacement, so that's up in the air as well. So if Pontiac were gone, I'd have to look elsewhere. Chevy is lacking what I want (at least until an Impala replacement NOT on W), Saturn rather sucks as far as sedans go, Buick is nice but still too "mature" IMO, and Cadillac is still out of my range. That leaves GMC Acadia, but if that dies, I'm most likely looking elsewhere... somewhere.
