  1. I suspect that is what it's going to be...the 2dr ht targa was fun for a show car, but I suspect the production version would be more practical...
  2. I've eaten at a few places on that list...Primati Brothers, Pennsylvania Macaroni Co, Gaucho Parrilla Argentina--and others not on the list in visits in recent years..lots of good grub in the Burgh IMO. But the CLE is where it's at for the uncubed Cubical for the foreseeable future... http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2017/01/best_new_cleveland_restaurants.html
  3. One with the Golf R drivetrain would be interesting...
  4. Yeah, similar concept but looking bigger and sleeker...the X90 was a stubby little car. I had a manager years ago that drove a red one.
  5. Hmm...do you have a link to what all the blahblahXX platforms are (what vehicles use them)? I recognize Alpha, Omega, and Y-body (Corvette), but the others seem like a random letter followed by a number then XX. I remember Delta, Delta II, Theta, Epsilon, Epsilon II but not this other platform jargon....
  6. They could get GM to manufacturer the last gen Impala (the one that ran for 10 years) for them with a different grille and some trim and call it the Kirkland America. A decent, solid value-oriented full size sedan. Hasn't the Burgh been becoming quite a culinary hotspot, though, in recent years? Or so I've read.. Phoenix/Scottsdale has become quite the dining hotspot in the last decade, lots of places there I will miss, but I have found a lot of good stuff in the Cleveland area so far...
  7. I'd think a production version would be a conventional 5dr crossover...baby brother to Tiguan. I like the looks of the concept, a 2dr ht targa..
  8. I think that whole scandal 15 years ago or so w/ the financing really hurt their image, then the recent fuel economy figures scandal didn't help. And they let the Evo hang around almost a decade w/ no changes...just nothing they have now really stands out vs the competition.
  9. They have been dead in the US for years, I don't know why they still bother here...
  10. Buick and GMC seem to exist today to give something for Cadillac dealers to draw in buyers that otherwise would go across the street to Chevy...filler brands.
  11. Apples and oranges, though...those MB models are models within the same brand--you would expect a lot of parts commonality; while with GM you are talking about models across 3 distinct brands (or divisions as GM called them when they had a bunch more). Platform and component sharing at GM and other multi-brand companies is nothing new, VW does it across it's many brands, Ford does it, etc. Today's Escalade is much more distinctly separated inside and out from the Chevy/GMC models than it was it's first two generations, when it used the same dash, etc.
  12. I closed on my house in Ohio Jan 25th. Today I got the first shipping Pod of content from Phoenix. Watching one is these get unloaded was fun...pretty slick set up they have. Will unpack this week, fly back to AZ next weekend and start packing the second pod w/ furniture etc. Hope to drive back here w/ the dogs and be in Ohio for good in about a month.
  13. Saw a '90s Ford Ranger in teal today..what made it unusual is it looked like a low trim level with a step side style bed...never seen one like that, thought the faux step side bed was only used on the 'sporty' stripe packages like the Splash.
  14. Saw a new dark red '17 Challenger GT in a parking lot this afternoon, first of these I've seen. No AWD badging that I noticed. Appropriately, it's cold and gray with light flurries... Edit: apparently the color is called Octane Red Pearlcoat. Nice dark red.
  15. Kind of a Buick Volvo Cross Country idea, sounds like.
  16. In some ways, Buick and GMC are really filler brands to keep people from going to the Chevy dealer across the street (which is literally how the stores are in my Phoenix neighborhood--Cadillac/Buick/GMC dealer across the street from the Chevy dealer).
  17. Yeah...maybe Cadillac can get ahead of them and do XT5 and Escalade sedans. Or take the idea behind the Evoque convertible and do them one better with an XT5 4dr convertible..or an Escalade landaulet (convertible top over the rear seat and cargo area only).
  18. I forgot about that one. Hasn't really been any recent 4dr compact or midsize CUV/SUVs like that, though...
  19. Yes, but in a larger SUV bodied form....not merely raised cars, but SUV bodies with trunks. Innovation.
  20. Hmmm...maybe the next untouched niche BMW and M-B can pursue is SUV sedans.....i.e. X4/6, GLC and GLEs with trunks instead of hatchbacks...
  21. I like the styling...the front has a family resemblance to the Pilot, and I like how it is at least somewhat restrained on the use of chrome and the grille size...it doesn't have the bloated faux-macho blocky silliness to the front that many trucks have today...
  22. They did it 30 years ago somehow..probably did it in a similar manner that GM did the Fiero through component reuse w/ other models....today, maybe do a JV w/ someone or repurpose Corolla/etc components?
  23. They will need something smaller to compete with Q3, GLA, X1, etc.. and maybe something in the Trax/Encore size or smaller (maybe a Spark based CUV ?)...esp. if they have any plans to compete in Europe in Asia...
  24. Ah, yeah..forgot that.
