    I think you would have to go with the Communist Cherry Corporation that just clones everything brought to china from Europe or the US and puts a cherry badge on it. That's actually 'Chery' w/ one 'r'. I wasn't thinking of China, though, they've had dozens of companies started there in recent decades, like the US was around 1910. Nothing of significance outside of China yet. I was thinking of US companies...can't think of anything... if Tesla makes it, it will be quite an achievement.

    This brings up the question--what was the last successful independent automaker that was launched? (not the launch of new brand/division of an existing mfgr or a result of a merger). It's a tough, expensive business to try and survive in..I can think of a few that tried and failed in my lifetime (Bricklin, DeLorean, Fisker, etc)

    There has been talk for years of a longer, larger GC--bring back the Wagoneer name possibly....seems like it would make the Durango redundant..

    Great timing...as I read this article I'm listening to the latest Autoblog podcast and the hosts are debating this very issue--speculating if Dodge will be phased out eventually to be replaced by Fiat....there are points and counter points for each argument. The biggest hole at Dodge currently is a competitive midsize sedan...

    The Cascadia seems like it would be a natural to bring here. I've seen in British car sites that the '14 Insignia is getting the MCE the Regal is getting. I do wonder about the next LaCrosse--if they will develop a larger model shared by Buick and Opel...been a long time since there has been a 'big' Opel.

    I know it's out of character for me (since it's FWD and 4cyl), but I think I could live w/ a Regal..really liking the design.

    Having parents that are Baby Boomers and listening to many baby boomers they socialize with, the recent Great Depression we are just starting to pull out of has had a very large hit to this class retirement funds. Most of these 60-80 year olds have decided to hold onto their Honda, Toyota, Nissans, VW etc. than spend money on a new car. 80 is a different crowd--the 'Silent Generation' (1925-1945)... like my Mom...Baby Boomers are ages 49-67. (1946-1964). The Silent Generation were still really into American cars in a big way. As far as the Baby Boomers in my family, my brother has been consistently Ford (Ford, Mercury) and GM (Chevy, Pontiac) most of his life (w/ one Mopar product), while my sister has been all over the map...Datsun and Nissan, Acura, Mercedes, Saab w/ a couple Fords and a Cadillac.

    A large portion of the Baby Boomer generation long ago moved to Toyota, Honda, VW, etc...so GM has to determine if it should try and woo them back or focus on younger generations..

    I couldn't imagine paying $30k or more for a 4 cylinder. When I was younger, 4 cylinders were for cheap econoboxes. Times have changed, just very strange to see 4 cylinders--which were the very definition of 'low end'--- being in premium priced cars. At least they aren't FWD...

    It would make sense to have a compact or midsize CUV for Buick in the US, odd that they have a subcompact and a full size with nothing in between currently.

    In this era of time shifting w/ DVRs, streaming shows, etc TV commercials seem like a dying medium...about the only time I see tv ads is when I'm watching a live sporting event....otherwise, I fast forward through them...doesn't seem like a great investment.

    This one had manual seats, I found it hard to adjust the backrest--either was too vertical or too angled back. Coupled w/ a steering wheel that didn't telescope, I found I used the Italian style driving position... (arms straight out).

    Had a silver '13 Impala LT w/ 20k miles on it for this past weekend's rental in Colorado. Had a sunroof. Got my head sunburned driving w/ it open. Enjoyed going up in the high country where it is cool--50 degrees and windy at the top of Loveland Pass. Drove about 250 miles from Denver out along I-70 and back on Saturday. Used less than half a tank of gas. Plenty of power on steep grades. This was the 5th or 6th Impala rental I've had in the last 2 years..always a pleasant experience.     The phone that's getting buzz in my circles currently is the HTC One...a couple coworkers got them recently...seems pretty nice. I'm still happy w/ my Motorola Droid Razr Maxx despite it's issues (hanging, flakyness). I'm carrying an iPhone 5 for work, it's too small though.

    Of course they do..if the sales are too high, they would cut into sales of other models and lower the CAFE ratings...

    Figured it would be up there...about $2k less than it's only competitor, the Charger SRT8. 55hp less than the SRT8, though, but 45hp more than the R/T--for $15k more. Alas, w/ dealer gouge, these will probably be $60-65k for a while...

    Yes..I've got folders full of the last 10 years of maintenance/repair receipts for my sister's two Mercs...$1200 here, $2000 there, $4000 there....fun stuff.

    I've driven a couple of rental 2nd gen ('12) CTSes, one a 3.6 and one a base. Both were very nice, they seem like cars I could live with as a daily driver..very comfortable, fun on twisty roads. I do like the STS quite a bit also.
