  2. I just hope they really are committed to a larger RWD platform and don't just use Epsilon II 'lwb' for all future 'large' models..
  3. Sounds like an interesting car...I read articles in recent Octane and Top Gear issues...too bad it's so violently ugly
  4. Yeah, the dutch doors arrangement was pretty neat...Ford used that arrangement on the Excursion, IIRC.
  5. Which begs the question, what took them so long to bring it here? And after all the moaning about not doing a rebadge of the G8 as a Chevy they basically do it from the Holden. So why not just do it with the G8 in the first place? It would have had the old exterior and interior...they waited until the Holden MCE.
  6. Too wierd for words. Would be interesting to take a CTS nose and graft it onto a Spark, though...create a mini-Caddy.
  7. Looks straight from the pics...front bumper may be tweaked a bit and the passenger mirror looks low. I like those formal '80s luxury cars...if I had the time and space to fool around w/ older cars, I'd love to have a clean '80s Lincoln Town Car like my Dad had then or was in the movie 'Lincoln Lawyer', and a Caddy Fleetwood Brougham or early '80s Coupe de Ville to go with it..
  8. I've seen both used. another: Twin H-Power
  9. PowerTech
  10. Don't know about the Lincoln grille, though.
  11. That chop appears to be a blend of the '14 Impala front upper w/ the Camaro ZL1 front lower fascia...
  12. I bet some of the switchgear is shared w/ Audi and VW, though....some of dirty bits definitely are...
  13. Which is the Caprice PPV fascia...the press would have given them a lot of flak for doing a rebadge of the G8 and it would have been a big flop. The lack of a real name hurts this car more than the styling, IMO. No, that's a different fascia This one? the Lumina.. http://flipacars.com/pics/Chevrolet/chevrolet-lumina-middle-east-02.jpg
  14. Which is the Caprice PPV fascia...the press would have given them a lot of flak for doing a rebadge of the G8 and it would have been a big flop. The lack of a real name hurts this car more than the styling, IMO. It's going to be interesting to see if the SS lasts beyond a couple of years...hard to see they being able to sustain a V8 only model, even at very low volume....cars like the Charger and Camaro are able to sustain the V8 models through strong sales of the V6 models. Maybe GM has a strategy long term for this niche instead of just making it up as they go along...I thought I'd read the next generation Commodore was going to be a FWD model (i.e. Impala variation) ?
  15. Which begs the question, what took them so long to bring it here? They were on Holden's schedule and Holden didn't schedule their MCE until '14...otherwise, they would have had a G8 rebadge.
  16. Back when the first Fast & The Furious movie came out I used to have kiddies in riced-out Eclipses, Civics, etc try and race me from stoplights when I was in my Mustang GT or my M3. Even in my Jeep (4500lbs, 195hp) I was able to pull away and leave 'em...
  17. Mercedes comes to mind.... the W109-series 300SEL in the '60s had badging for different engine sizes...3.5, 4.5, 6.3.. I'm sure there are others.
  18. I like the wagon...like the color. Also definitely prefer the subtle Calais front end to the fish-mouth SS front end.
  19. Interesting ideas. Alas, GM wasn't going to invest much to change the Commodore to the SS, hence very little changed stylistically besides the badging.
  20. Sad to see an American car company seeking investment from China because potential investors in the US have their head up their collective asses.
  21. All I see here in AZ are combined Dodge/Ram/Chrysler/Jeep dealers...maybe in small towns there are standalone Dodge dealers, but my impression is they are consolidating. As far as other CUVs, Dodge had the Nitro and Journey, but I think those are OOP now..
  22. A modern drivetrain, suspension upgrades, etc in a mid '80s El Camino SS would be interesting...
  23. There are a few G8 Utes in the US, I assume people ordered the bed parts, quarter panels, taillights, etc off of Australian eBay or from Aus. salvage yards or other suppliers and had a competent body shop do the cut and paste work..
