  1. I am sure he would fit in a CTS or XTS far better than that Buick. Course non of us Shreks really fit into any car, just keep us in our Full Size SUV's. XTS wouldn't be any better..it's just as tiny as the LaCrosse...short wheelbase, narrow.
  2. Whoever can do this on a wide-scale could become rich. I'd love to cut out the middle-man and order a vehicle online, only to see it a couple days later. A flat rate for each trim line, all with the same options could make things less expensive. Yes many Americans would love to skip the dealer experience entirely, but strong franchise laws in each state prevents such a transition. Ideally, buying a car would be more like buying something from Amazon.com, but state legislators need their daily bribe and kickbacks. Yeah, franchise laws are obsolete....might have made sense 100 years ago, but have no place today. I still can't imagine not driving a car before buying...even just sitting in the car, to see if the ergonomics, visibility, etc are agreeable...and the checking out all the controls. But I guess for people buying a generic FWD appliance, it doesn't matter.
  3. I would assume 'high volume' for Lincoln would be fleet/livery, though I don't see the MKT selling to that market as well as the hoary Town Car did...
  4. Yep... FWD 4 cyl automatic 4dr appliances are pretty much all the same, just different colors and different styling details from different brands. Many Genericans would be happy if they could buy/lease their appliance from a website and have it delivered to their door without the hassle of going to a dealer.
  5. That must be a Canadian Pontiac 1000..the US ones had a distinct grille (the one in the pic has a Chevette grille).
  6. Looks like it could be the basis for a LWB 7-passenger XTS wagon.. just add wood grain on the sides and a roof rack.
  7. Neat...I have a radio that I got as a kid in the '70s, it's an early '30s Rolls Royce 2 seat roadster...probably by the same company. Metal body w/ plastic parts. Also have a '63 Cadillac convertible radio I found at a flea market, approx. 1/24th scale, shiny gold plastic.
  8. I remember liking the looks of those and the Electra T Type...it's too bad they never did a 2dr version of the FWD Bonneville using that roofline.
  9. 1988..that was a milestone year for me...i turned 18 that year...had my '87 Mustang GT for my fun car and an '84 Ford Escort diesel as my college car...the only time I had FWD car..a year later, got a used '86 Mustang LX 2.3 to use as the college car as my Dad wanted his Escort back for dinghy use (tow on the back of the Winnebago).
  10. Different niche and different customers...Buick is going after Acura (ILX) and Lexus (CT) shoppers, Caddy is going after BMW and M-B shoppers...
  11. The Cadillac store around the corner has a couple of them. in person it reminds me a Sonata/Avalon mashup in profile...the proportions are very strange...short high nose, short wheelbase, fastback roofline w/ short, high narrow rear makes for an odd look, IMO.
  12. That's a sharp truck...regular cabs are rarity around here... I mostly see crew cabs.
  13. Well, he's had the Jeep around 9 months...getting old..
  14. Here's a Clot..can't recall the last time I've seen one of these.
  15. My lazy Sunday...I've got cold beer, going to make some nachos and tacos later and watching NASCAR from Watkins Glen....great track.
  16. Yes, a new Astra cabrio is on the way...apparently, a regular convertible and not the CC like the previous generation. http://www.motorauthority.com/pictures/1061302_2013-opel-astra-cabrio-spy-shots_gallery-1#100397578
  17. S40? TSX? New Beetle? A4? Mini-Cooper S? Jetta GLI? True..though those are near-lux import brands (except for VW)..just not used to seeing GM there..though they were there previously w/ SAAB.
  18. That story provides a lot of material for new songs.
  19. Yep..the FWD X-bodies were the beginning of 3 decades of FWD mediocrity that nearly killed the company.
  20. Their Anteros car is interesting, but the 789 is just plain dumb..retro done very badly. But I'm sure there are enough 65 yr olds to buy that atrocity to keep them in business..
  21. Times have definitely changed...I still can't wrap my head around the idea of a compact FWD 4cyl car going for $30k...
  22. Interesting..never seen a quasi-bench seat like that in an x-body. Can't recall how many years since I've seen one of these in any condition. I like the offset front license plate..the Phoenix and Citation had those also, IIRC.
  23. They had a neat looking dash design and they were hardtops, which was a rarity in 1978. Haven't seen one of these or the Challenger in years...
  24. I like the rectangular lights on the '76 Caprice, full size Buicks, Olds, Pontiac and Caddys also. I think it's not so much the square that I like as I dislike the single round lights on the midsize models...single round lights were ok on compacts and smaller cars like the F-bodies, but I thought they looked cheap on the midsize models instead of quad lights.. I never cared for the quad stacked rectangular lights that showed up inexplicably on some A-body Buicks, Chevys, '77-79 Ford midsize and '77-78 Chrysler midsize...those looked like a bandaid. The horizontal quad rectangular lights go well w/ the '76 B-/C-/E- body models which have wide front ends w/ mostly horizontal grilles..
