  2. I wouldn't give the A7 that much credit. The Impala has had the six-window glasshouse since 2000 or 1994, depending on how you look at it. Yes, but the fastback aspect of the c-pillar flowing into the decklid is quite similar to the A7 and several other recent cars..
  3. Still staggering that it takes that long to develop a product. I guess I'm too used to product development in internet time.
  4. 4 years seems like a really long time to get a new model on a new platform w/ existing engines to market...Toyota, Honda, VW, etc can probably do it in 2-3 years...
  5. Apples and oranges..can't really compare a car from over 40 years ago w/ a modern car. Cars were bigger yet lighter then.
  6. Yeah, they have their own kitchy appeal, esp. w/ the woodgrain on the sides. I esp. like the '71-76 GM wagons w/ the rear window that retracts into the roof...
  7. The '64 is neat..with Fords (and GMs) I prefer late '60s-early '70s styling to early 60s styling.
  8. Would be an interesting option. I can't see the macho crowd that buys full size trucks going for a 4cyl, though...
  9. Fixed. The Montego was the mid-size Mercury wagon in '69.
  10. All the rumors on this and other forums are it will be a Zeta model..and that seems the most likely give the time frame. Look at all the comments made by hyper6 and other insiders in other threads.
  11. My folks had a '69 Marquis 4dr ht and a '73 one..but I was too young to remember the '69, can barely remember the '73.
  12. That Volvo is sweet...can't recall the last time I saw a coupe or wagon P1800...
  13. I think pure hybrids like the Prius will continue to do well, but hybrid versions of regular models will continue to do not so good...people buying hybrids seem to prefer pure hybrids.
  14. I wonder if a CUV or coupe will be the next variation... though a larger Camry sized Prius is rumored also.
  15. It is not so much they did not have any money they just did not have enought to fix all that was wrong. If you have only so much jam you have to spread it thin to cover the piece of toast. Too many models and too many brands wasted the money and just did not provide the return on the dollar spent. Like it or not the truth is the truth and you can just wish it away by not speaking of it. Again GM did not go belly up in the last few years, it took years to do so with failed or weak product that the public just did not want or like. They can't keep using the BR and past mistakes as excuses forever..they have to execute and build a range of world-class competitive models that sell....they do seem to be making progress w/ some models..
  16. Yaris isn't a hybrid. The Prius C is close in size, though.
  17. Anecdotal evidence, of course, but most of the hybrid owners I personally know are still on their first.. I do know a couple 2 Prius couples, and one guy that is on his 3rd (he's had one of each generation, getting a new one every 5 years)...I know another guy that bought an '05 Prius now has a '10 and a '12 Prius V for the wife's family hauler (replaced a GMC Jimmy).
  18. It's definitely a '69. I love that era of big Fords and Mercs...beautiful car.
  19. Wow...nice to see a '49-51 in stock original condition instead of the usual ugly chopped top custom..
  20. The current Scirocco would look better with more rear window slope, IMO...it looks too much like a squished Golf in profile...
  21. Unfortunately, the styling is ruined by the weak transverse engine FWD platform that seems to result in short noses and short wheel to firewall distances. They could put an extra 6 inches between the wheels and firewall, but nooo....the XTS would look a lot better w/ a 117-120 inch wheelbase (more length ahead of the firewall) than a tiny 111 inch wheelbase. I could tolerate FWD vehicles more if it wasn't for the stubby noses. The MKS, LaCrosse, Impala, and countless other FWD models suffer from this design flaw. Weak FWD proportions usually also compromise front legroom. There is no excuse for a largish car to have wheelwell intrusion into the front floor.
  22. 100F at 5pm tonight. AUGGGGGGHHHHHH. It's only April 9...
