  1. Got to face the facts, Camino..it's not 1979 anymore (1979 being a year when GM was still majority RWD w/ lots of bodystyles available). GM, like Ford, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc is primarily a maker of volume FWD (mostly 4cyl, automatic) appliances..forgettable, disposable appliances that the masses buy. That's the just the way it is...
  2. Since the 1-series is going to FWD w/ the next generation, I suspect the next gen X1 will be AWD/FWD.
  3. Cadillac had night vision, Volvo had blind spot warmings, and various brands had HUDs, but the 3 technologies weren't previously available together in a Lexus GS..thus it is revolutionary for the GS. I guess.
  4. Lots of cool old trucks and buses... I always liked the looks of the 'fishbowl' era and early RTS models...always thought the RTS would have made a nice base for an RV..
  5. Holden is getting the Malibu to replace the Epica, a variation of the NG FWD Impala will probably replace the Commodore. Australian buyers as elsewhere have embraced FWD appliances.
  6. Anyone remember the Tundra 'Killer Heat' ad from the '09 Super Bowl? Just saw it aired on the NASCAR Sprint Cup coverage on Fox...surprising to see a car commercial from over 3 years ago still being aired...
  7. Sweet...haven't seen a clean GP of that era in ages..love the pointy front end. When I was a kid, one of my older brother's best friends had a black '75 w/ red interior.
  8. Cool..don't think I've ever seen a '40s Olds wagon in person.
  9. Makes no sense why they would go to Ford, unless they are too clueless to realize how similar Chevy and GMC trucks are...
  10. I like the rims on it, Great to know they are working it and that Chris found it. I would assume the production ELR will get it's own styling and not just a Cadillac grille and lights on a Volt..
  11. This is the pic of a mule I saw on Autoblog
  12. Beautiful car..that turquoise seems to be a popular Pontiac interior color in the mid '60s.
  13. So would I... but it needs a 4 inch stretch, so I can get in one. +1 I love the car but at 6'6" I cannot fit in! Leave the top down all the time and use an umbrella..
  14. Saw a new-generation 991 series Porsche 911 in silver this morning, first one I've seen on the road. (I'd seen several of them last October at Laguna Seca). Sweet.
  15. I've read the Volt-based ELR coupe is a go for production...
  16. Neat custom...a '49, I think? For Buicks of that era, I particularly like the '50 for it's grille and side sculpting...
  17. It doesn't sound like it's 'bare bones' reading the press release...
  18. musical
  19. Put an engine in, grime it up a bit outside, could freak out the neighbors...let them think you are a serial killer...
  20. It's a Subaru boxer-4 torquemaster in one of the lightest car on the common market. I think it will do great! I can't wait to try one out. I'd love to drive one...this car reminds me conceptually of neat '70s sports cars like the original RX-7 and 240Z...
  21. CVTs haven't been well recieved, at least in the US...isn't BMW or M-B working on a 10 speed auto?
  22. I agree with you that the US has nothing like this and that on paper it seems like alot of power, but so far my experiance with scion is that their cars are slugs, cheap interiors, cheap cars. Remember, though, this is a Subaru...from what I've read in the magazines, it's a fun little car. It's a light RWD sports car, sounds like the ingredients are good. This is not a typical FWD Toyota appliance.
  23. satire
  24. Print it out, take a black marker and write over it..then scan it back in...
  25. I'd hardly call 200hp 'underpowered' for such a small and light car. The US automakers have nothing like this.
