  1. The dumbest implementation of them had to be the GM models with the seat belts attached to the doors. Ford had a weird mix of some models w/ airbags, some with the motorized belts for a few years.
  2. Agreed...I remember when cars had usable trunks...you can haul a lot in the trunk of a 50's, sixties, or seventies domestic.... I'm always amazed at car shows when I see how long the decklids were on many cars of that era....seems like they are longer than the hoods on many modern cars...even the small cars of the '60s had huge trunks compared to today's cars..
  3. I guess drivers didn't care about what was behind them or back up much from the late 30s to early 50s..those tiny rear windows and often no side view mirror must have been a real PITA to live with..
  4. Interesting...kinda retro futuristic..got retro touches like the '50s style wraparound windshield and dogleg a-pillars, suicide doors, exposed b-pillars..
  5. I wonder if this will be on the same short wheelbase as the LaCrosse, or get a longer wheelbase?
  6. Weak FWD proportions, unfortunately. Nose is too short w/ the short wheel to door distance. I guess this is just filler until they build a real flagship.
  7. Twit happens. I suppose they do have to keep it squeaky clean, to avoid hate mail or a boycott from the socons.
  8. 'jetback'? A CTS 4dr coupe w/ the roofline of the coupe would be interesting...looks like that may be the way the ATS is going, if the illustrations are any where realistic..
  9. they would be hot in a Nissan Juke Convertible. Hmmm.... an in-decklid rumble seat would be cool in a stretched DTS dual-cowl phaeton.
  10. I really want a convertible. But without a garage, it would deteriorate from the vile sun, bird poop, cats, etc. here. It will have to wait..
  11. The Jeep just keeps rolling along..127k now. This weekend, replaced the shocks, serpentine belt, some fluids and bulbs. Going on a little road trip this weekend into next week. I'd like to buy a new car, but not without a garage. Moving out of AZ is my first priority, and that's still a ways off, but in the short term.
  12. The posting volume in the word association and car spotter threads will go up.
  13. Forgot about this..bought about $50 worth of gas about an hour ago...ruh-roh.
  14. Chrysler doesn't have PR people that can tweet for them? They have to hire an outside firm to do it? Weak.
  15. It will. I'd like to add though, that I reserve judgemnt until I see the production version: test cars painted in white and with loads of camo are meant to look not-so-good. Yes, can't tell much from spy shots. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person eventually.
  16. It will be interesting to see how the front and rear edges are--crisp or rounded...the roofline has a rounded arch.
  17. Those are great...what a difference clear color photos make compared to grainy B&W...
  18. I wasn't sure why there are two of each picture, slightly different..I assume that is the 'stereo' aspect? Not familiar w/ this type of photography.
  19. Sad..they have long been down the core brand values to appeal to the masses.
  20. kinder garten ATF
  21. Color 1906 SF earthquake aftermath pics Pretty fascinating, relatively clear and the color is good considering the age. Amazing..I thought the world was black and white back then (j/k)...didn't realize color photography went back that far.
  22. At the speed the video rolls 99% of the viewers won't notice it's not the current Malibu..besides, who watches TV commercials anymore?
  23. Hmmm..don't have this problem with mine, they are fixed masts.
  24. I'd like to see 2dr SUVs make a comeback...I've owned one in the past, but after over 10 years w/ a 4dr SUV for a daily driver, I'll stick w/ 4drs..a 4dr is just more practical and useful--easier to load content in the back seat (people, dogs, groceries, etc). Though I'd consider a 2dr Wrangler for a toy someday..
  25. Saw 3 HHRs between yesterday and today..red regular, orange panel, and purple panel w/ flowershop livery...they certainly are a distinctive looking CUV/wagon/something. More stylish than the kiddie-oriented xB/XD IMO...and most importantly, it's not a Toyota.. The xB, XD and Matrix all seem to me to be different looking answers to the same question--compact 5dr hatchbacks.
