  1. Replacing a serpentine belt is one thing I'd never attempt at home, I'd probably end up stabbing myself in the hand w/ a screwdriver... I need to take my Jeep in for an oil change and get the belt replaced soon.
  2. The 50s cars are too far before my time to really appeal to me, but there are a few designs that I like..the '53 Studebaker hardtop (really stood out compared to the dumpy, humpy designs that most of Detroit circa '53 had), the '53 Skylark (most beautiful early 50s GM IMHO), the '56 Lincoln MK II (so clean), some European models. I go against the mainstream in that I really don't care for the '49 Merc, esp. chopped customs. As far as owning old cars, there are many from the '60s-70s I could see myself having as a weekend toy, esp. the lower-longer-wider full size models..
  3. Well, at least it's not a disposable $h!box, like a Toyota..
  4. Ya...and you just don't see them around anymore. Maybe a nice one at the occasional car show, but about the only time I see any 3rd gen on a street it's a worn out beater. Newest are 18 years old, oldest are 28...
  5. I'm sure people are restoring the good ones..V8 IROC-Zs, Trans Ams, GTAs, etc. Not the common stuff.
  6. Yes, 3rd gen F bodies and GNs are old enough and uncommon enough that people are restoring them and preserving clean originals. Kind of old enough to have fallen out of used car status. Kind of like my Mustang...most GTs and LX 5.0s were used up in the '90s, trashed by the kiddies, modified w/ a bunch of aftermarket $h!. Mine is all original and preserved that way.
  7. Well, vehicles from the '90s and today have just 'used cars' status, not really old enough to be considered collector cars or get that kind of interest from people..
  8. Fun, fun
  9. Happy Festivus! As well as happy other holidays. Not looking forward to the weather and travel this weekend..flying out tommorow AM, back Sunday evening.
  10. Saw an absolutely totalled dark red '10 LaCrosse on a flatbed on the freeway, hit hard in the front, roof snipped and peeled back, temporary tag on the back.
  11. Nah, a cougar...was recently dating a guy 24 years younger...
  12. Probably 15 years ago something like this happened to my Dad..he was at the grocery in a small town in Ohio in his (now my) '69 Mustang, and the mayor of the town backed into the rear quarter panel, denting it and the rear bumper corner. The mayor conveniently owned a body shop, paid to straighten the quarter and replace the bumper. Both quarter panels had been replaced (along w/ the doors, front fenders, floors, rockers) about 10 years earlier in the resto.
  13. I give my sister a hard time for watching Logo occasionally...joking that she wants to become a lesbiterian after 3 divorces...
  14. I do wonder why Golden Girls was picked, compared to Queer as Folk or The L-Word. I think I've only seen a couple episodes of GG years ago, don't recall any characters as necessarily gay, some older women living together in the Miami area?
  15. Another step in getting out of AZ in '10 fell into place last week.
  16. bad hot water heater. (been there, done that)
  17. Wasn't there in recent years a bigger displacement than the 454, something like 8.2? In production HD trucks, not a crate motor.. Been a few BBCs in my family, from my brother's '68 Camaro SS 396 to the '80s 454s in my parent's Pace Arrow and Winnebago RVs.
  18. Dashed through Target tonight, found the '68 Firebird in bright red (still haven't seen the green one). Found the met. black CTS-v also, and the yellow Hotchkis '69 Camaro.
  19. Pretty light for their size, even compared to other unibody CUVs.
  20. This line in the article cracked me up.."It gave them an excuse to wear tight jeans and to sneak off to public parks for quick releases with hairy men of different ethnicities... " LOL! I think I've only had one male friend over the years that was an out gay guy...though I've had a number of lesbian friends, incl. one girlfiend in college that was bi.
  21. Other than likely acceleration differences between the V6 and 4, does it drive sufficiently differently from the Equinox that was recently tested?
  22. I remember my folks having a couple small black and white TVs back in the '70s, we had a small portable 9 inch one in the motorhome and an old 25 inch Zenith console in the basement, an a 25 inch Zenith color upstairs. No remote controls. For years, 25 inch was the largest TV my folks ever had..even today, my Mom only has a 32 inch. A couple other 20th century artifacts that are dissapearing now that I remember are home land lines and paper phone books. Haven't used either in years.
  23. I do, haven't played any recently..mostly played several versions of Trivial Pursuit and other trivia-related games...
  24. Yeah, I was kidding. I know a bit of mythology from reading some Greek literature and studying Beowulf in high school. And the sci-fi ones I mentioned from reading some sci fi in hs and college...I like some HP Lovecraft, Heinlein, David Gerrold..
