  1. Hmm...do these mythical guys hang out with Cthulhu or the Chtorr?
  2. Saw a '10 LaCrosse up close in a parking lot today for the first time (I'd seen a couple at auto shows and one on the road). Silver, black out window tint, chromed wheels. Looked pretty sharp overall...got to watch it swing into the spot next to me. Later saw a minty '79 Lincoln Versailles--two tone silver and black w/ black carriage roof. I haven't seen one of those in ages, and this looked very clean..interesting artifact from 30 years ago.
  3. True enough...mine is tight in the back, I've often had 3 adults in the back on lunch trips, but it's snug for them. Most GM products usually always have a big gap between the wheel and wheelwell..room to put on snow chains, I'v read.
  4. Reading the specs on the Equinox, I was surprised how large it is..6 inches longer, 5 inch longer wheelbase, about the same width, and 3 inches taller than my '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was considered a small midsize back in the day. Looks like the 'Nox has more rear leg room also. The sliding rear seat and power hatch are nice features.
  5. It was a quiet day today until Bitey (Australian Terrier) bit Ginger (the Yorkie) on top of the head, creating a bleeding gash. Rushed to the vet to get it cleaned up and get some antibiotics. fun, fun. On topic--in the parking lot at the vet was a gorgeous dark blue w/ white top '69 Electra 225 4dr ht. Also saw on the street a '66 Ford Galaxie 2dr ht painted a hideous bright pink w/ white peeling vinyl top, white walls, on old slotted mags.
  6. There was an AWD version from '88...I had a colleague in grad school that drove one. There was a 2nd gen Justy in Europe that was also AWD, but was a BE'd Suzuki Cultus (i.e. Geo Metro). The current JDM 4th gen is also BE'd as the Toyota Passo and Diahatsu Boon. Haven't seen one in ages. R Subaru Justy
  7. A foot is a decent little snowfall. Nothing like the 36-45 inches over a couple of days I used to see in Colorado, usually every October or March.
  8. The end of the year is time for toasts and looking forward to a better year to come. For myself, my current mantra is 'this time next year, NOT in Arizona!'.
  9. This sounds like isn't necessarily a rebadge, but potentially as differentiated from the Orlando as the Terrain is from the Equinox. Also gives BG dealers a Vibe replacement.
  10. tenderloin (pork tenderloin, very tasty. Thinking about grilling some tommorow)
  11. Orlando based compact CUV according to Autoblog. I think it may the boxy gray concept that was seen in the styling studio pics a while back.. GMC Granite From the Autoblog article: It seems as though it's just about impossible to keep an embargo in place these days. A Canadian outlet just spilled the beans on a couple of GM reveals set for Detroit next month. They say they were invited to a sneak preview Wednesday evening and although they couldn't take pics, they felt free to tell us about the whole array of models. Some have been loosely-guarded secrets, but a couple are unknowns, so we'll quote CanadianDriver on those until we get confirmation from GM. Apparently, The General will have a slew of new model introductions in the D next month, including the much-anticipated Camaro Convertible, the new, upsized Aveo, a substantially-revised Malibu, production versions of the Spark and Orlando, and two models we hadn't heard about until now: A GMC version of the Orlando dubbed the Granite, and a "sport version of the Buick Regal" that should get "many of its performance parts from the 325-hp Opel Insignia OPC." Hot dog, the Regal GS is apparently more than a wet dream. Bring on the Stage 1 and GNX. The Regal was just introduced in Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago, so the announcement of a performance model so soon thereafter seems a little strange -- not that we're complaining, mind you. The Granite is described as an "urban utility vehicle" and will be the smallest model in GMC's history. A Denali edition can only be around the corner. We'll get you more details as they are released and we'll be sure to have the whole field covered when the Big Top opens at Cobo in January.
  12. Sunny and 72 here. ha-ha.
  13. One minor nit: I find myself frequently hitting 'Attach this File' when I mean to hit 'Add Reply' because I don't see Add Reply unless I scroll down. The area where Add Reply, Preview Post, and Cancel seems quite a ways below the text box.
  14. I've heard about compression. Also, it seems so many people listen to music mostly in the form of MP3s through crappy ear buds...I do at work..so they get used to compromised music? Is listening to CDs or vinyl at home on a good sound system or in the car on CDs a dying pastime?
  15. I drove through an Enterprise lot this afternoon--there is one in suburban Chandler near my office...a mix of Malibus, Impalas, Cobalts, Equinoxii, with the random Camry, Corolla, G6 and Altima mixed in.
  16. Looks solid and green. Any rust or other major issues?
  17. I remember from about age 6-9 or so changing the TV channel to UHF channel 59 Pittsburgh to watch old Star Trek and Twilight Zone reruns.. Another thing I wonder, like the fax, is the pager...do they sell pagers anymore..with cell phones, I don't see the point of pagers.
  18. Was announced that it was down to 8.9% for AZ w/ this data. Don't know how accurate that is, though. I've heard from headhunters it's still about 4% in my field.
  19. The wheels aren't bad...I don't care for the front lower fascia. I do like how they kept the Acadia's horizontal headlights and relatively small grille, rather than tack on an oversized Terrain style grille.
  20. A clip from 'Malcom in the Middle', I presume? The woman in the Tempo looks like the Mom from that show.
  21. Haven't had home dialup since '01. Had DSL for a year, then cable internet since '02. Other things of the past I remember... Remember the sound of a VHS player rewinding a tape? Been over 10 years since I've regularly watched VHS tapes. Or the dialing (and ring) sounds of a rotary dial phone? Probably 30+ years on that one..I remember 'em. Or a 'party line'? Remember those from rural Ohio, probably 30 years ago again. Or TVs w/ dials for UHF and VHF---channels under 13 and those over 13? Print newspapers. Haven't subscribed to one since '01. About the only time I ever buy one is at the airport if I can't get decent wireless. I read the news from a wide range of internet sources, don't really need a print paper..
  22. That Toro is pretty cool..lots of potential. The V6 in the Jeep isn't that outrageous, given the long-ago history of the Buick V6...
  23. Steel State of Mind, pretty cool..a Pittsburgh version of Empire State of Mind. Steel State of Mind My mind is wandering tonight...PGH dreaming on a PHX night.
  24. Gong-Sigur Ros
  25. Nothing wrong with that. That's what I want in my next car. RWD, preferably V8. Day in day out, I want the features, safety, and reliability of modern, late model vehicle..don't want to deal with the issues of an old car...whether it's the 50 mile daily commute or a 500-2000 mile road trip. My '87 Mustang is fun as an occasional weekend drive, but I haven't used it as a daily driver in almost 10 years.
