  1. Probably a bunch of punkass teens and 20 somethings that haven't driven anything more than a Civic or Cavalier...
  2. Slick...I hope they build it.
  3. Clean..it's so rare to see a 3rd gen F-body in original, unrestored condition. Like my beloved Fox 5.0 Mustangs of the same era, they are usually trashed or tastelessly modified now...
  4. Cool.. what is the production start date..sometime in 1st quarter 09?
  5. An old car like that I wouldn't even bother spending money on to fix...take a rubber mallet and beat the hood out so it latches, duct tape the bumper in place..
  6. I saw the Genesis in person at the Denver Auto Show on Saturday.. it looks ok, nothing really stands out, though...it's got a mix of Infiniti and BMW styling cues..
  7. The current 5 series has the front of the chassis made of aluminum (the whole front clip is aluminum, I believe)..they've been doing that for several years now.
  8. Too much sausage in the Germans' diets, I guess... their cars and SUVs are as fat as American ones.. of course, with the volume sales of their trucks and SUVs, obesity is a bigger problem for the Americans for meeting the future CAFE regs..
  9. My parents were always Ford, Lincoln or Mercury (from 1949-present) with a few odd diversions (2 Chevies (56 Bel Air, 81 Chevette), 1 Dodge truck, and a '65 Hino Contessa), plus 2 Dodge powered motorhomes and 2 Chevy powered ones. Over 40+ years,my brother has been primarily always had Fords w/ a Mercury, 4 Chevies ('58 Bel Air, '68 Camaro SS 396, '84 Chevette, '85 S10), a couple Pontiacs ('65 GTO, '75 Trans Am) and 1 '71 Dodge Dart in the mix. My sister has had quite a mix over 30+ years-- a couple Fords ('76 Pinto, '99 Explorer), a Chevy ('90 Corsica), 4 Datsuns/Nissans (280Z, 280ZX, 300ZX, 300ZX TT), a Saab 900 Turbo, a Jeep Liberty, and currently two vintage Benzes. I've currently got a Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2 older Mustangs, but have had 4 other Fords ('84 Escort diesel, '86 Mustang LX, '88 Bronco II, '95 Bronco), a BMW M3, and a Chevy Caprice previously over the last 20 years. Next car will likely be a Cadillac or Ford product.
  10. I haven't found the MBX Caddy yet... I did find today a neat Jada 'For Sale' series 1940 Cadillac Fleetwood 75...has a neat worn patina.

I haven't gotten one of the bluetooth earpieces yet...what I usually do is put the phone on speakerphone when I talk and drive..
  12. Sweet...I saw a green DB9 roadster last week (Broncos player Champ Bailey's ride). There were several AMs at the Denver Auto Show yesterday--white V8 Vantage roadster, gray V8 Vantage coupe, silver DB9 coupe...
  13. Went to the Denver Auto Show yesterday...they had an orange production Challenger rotating on display, and a black G8 rotating..couldn't get into either or get up too close.. The MKS was there also, rotating...it has strange proportions...very thick vertically in the midsection and rear...

Reminds me of something I saw at the pub Friday night..some asswipe had parked his Maxima such that it took up 4 parking spaces...if I'd had a beater Suburban w/ bull bars I'd love to have rammed it and pushed it out of the way... It's just a f@#king Maxima--nothing of significance--why park like an asshole?
  15. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Rockies do this year...I've been a fan of them for the last decade...but I'm moving to Diamondback territory next month, so we'll see where my loyalties fall..
  16. Probably for the fleet models.
  17. Interesting...5 model years w/o any styling changes. Is the G6 ever going to get an update or restyle?
  18. Wow...got to wonder what kind of delusional mind would do something like that.
  19. I remember Car and Driver or Motor Trend doing a road test of one of those back in the day...don't think I've ever seen one, though.
  20. I can definitely remember when Korean stuff was pretty bad--20 years ago, Hyundais were a poor choice relative to a 3 yr old used Honda, IMHO. I also remember when Korean VCRs and home electronics were a poor choice relative to Japanese (i.e. I remember comparing a Sony VCR to a Goldstar and getting the Sony....I have 10-15 yr old Sony and Yamaha home theatre components that are still in fine working order (receivers, VCR, DVD player, cassette deck, record player). (I have a buddy that has 40 yr old Marantz equipment that works great, but those were super high end back in the day). My 20 yr old Sony Walkman still probably works (haven't used it in years, though). I'd love to find TVs, computers, etc made in the US, but I'm not holding my breath..I have no idea where my iPod, MacBook, Toshiba HDTV, etc were made, but I bet it's not in the US.. Or clothes...looking in my closet at shirt labels is like looking at a list of UN countries... my shoes are Danish and Italian brands mostly, but I have no idea if they were actually made in Europe. Cars seem to be the last big category of consumer goods still designed and manufactured in the US..
  21. Yes, but there are a lot of people out there that would rather have a new car with a warranty than a used car..
  22. When they come, they probably will use the same angle that Hyundai did when they first came to the US...very cheap, basic cars for those that can't afford a new car. Indian cars are coming also (Mahindra trucks and SUVs first).
  23. Unfortunately, what is the choice for the consumer? It seems everything (consumer products) sold at Wal-Mart, Ace, Home Depot, etc is made in China and manufacturing in the US is by and large dead or dying. I don't see any way of undoing the damage that has been done over the last 3 or so decades...
  24. Agreed...it took the Koreans roughly 20 years to reach the Japanese standard in the US, China will probably be able to do it in 10 or less...
  25. Perhaps whenever the Chinese makers do come here, it will involve Wal-Mart.... they will probably set up an arrangement to sell Chinese cars under one of their store brands (I can see it now--- Puritan subcompact sedans, Great Value SUVs, and Sam' Choice pickups). Or how about Costco Kirkland brand Chinese cars?
