  1. The key word there is 'were'. It's not 1970 anymore....
  2. Fine... I want mine loaded, you want yours stripped.... that's what option lists are for.
  3. Wow..that's cheap..to get something equivalent to that here in the Denver area is easily $400k or more. I moved out of the midwest over a decade ago, but lately have thought about moving back before June '10, primarily to be closer to family in Ohio... I've been looking at the Columbus or Pittsburgh areas, trying to get a feel for how the software job market is in those metro areas...
  4. I don't view modern features as a requirement, but things that should be definitely available as options...I like modern performance cars that mix luxury with performance...nothing wrong with that. I like the retro styling of cars like the Mustang and Challenger, but I don't want retro content (i.e. no vinyl seats, am radios, and manual windows..
  5. I don't see the Challenger as a Monte or T-bird style car..it's a larger version of a Mustang or Camaro...a modern version of the classic pony car...the Monte Carlo and T-Bird were of the old midsize 'personal luxury' style car--a genre that has died out. The Challenger is much more overtly sporty and muscular.
  6. It will be interesting to see where Ford goes w/ the next Mustang..I would think the GT V8 would definitely go beyond 300hp, maybe 350?
  7. Interesting..I was expecting the same kind of situation with the Mustang Shelbys...outrageous dealer markups being the norm.. True....but there are aspects of all of these cars that I like...again, I'm not like other people..
  8. True.....but not all buyers fit into neat little boxes..I'm not like other people...I'm open-minded enough to like and consider both retro style performance coupes (Mustang/Challenger/etc) and modern ones (3-series, G37)... And no way the Challenger SRT8 will be $37,995... reality will be $45-50k with dealer markup.
  9. True...but the 3-series is a modern performance coupe, arguably the best of it's kind... so I would definitely compare them. To each their own.
  10. Heh-heh..it is definitely a unique product...but the SRT8 will be $45-50k or more on dealer lots with the markup, so such comparisons are legit, IMHO. The 3-series is the standard bearer amongst performance coupes in the 40-50k range, so such a comparison is totally legit.
  11. They are both coupes at a similar price point....that's why I would compare them...not crazy at all... I'd certainly test both. I think outside the box...the 335i has a 4.9 sec 0-60, and handles better due to being smaller, lighter, etc... Obviously, if I were looking at a $30k Challenger, I'd compare against the Mustang GT and Camaro (if it existed). At $40k+, the 3-series and other similar coupes make sense for comparison..
  12. Maybe they limit it intentionally for the FWD transaxle, different exhaust, etc..
  13. Mmmm...sweet..looks like the Angeles Crest Highway..great road. I've driven it twice in Hertz rentals...once in an '05 Town Car and once in an '06 350Z....fun road.
  14. True..but it's not as obese as the Tahoe...probably 500lbs less? Still obese, but less so..
  15. Agreed...I think the delegate count should be proportional to the popular vote..
  16. I have to wonder what they were thinking with that front end....pretty ugly. The previous front end was much better, albeit not too distinctive..this front end is distinctive, but not in a nice way, IMHO...
  17. Same here...I have no fear of technology or modern features...in a daily driver, I like power everything, top-of-the line sound system, etc.. and IRS is certainly a good thing. I was born in 1970, I certainly have no interest in driving like it's 1970..
  18. Yes, that's plausible... isn't there a base non-DI 3.6 in the base CTS currently?
  19. Agreed...that was the overriding point I've been making about recent Chrysler interiors...some of them are so dodgy that a $15k Hyundai outshines them. Chrysler needs to upgrade all their interiors across the board, IMHO.
  20. And why not...a $40k car should have an interior worthy of a $40k car, not the interior of a $25k car.. horsepower has no relationship to interior quality and content. 425 hp doesn't mean much when it weighs 4100 lbs... I'd like to see a road test comparison between the Challenger and a 335i, for example... I really want to like the Challenger...I like the styling overall, but if it were my money, for $40-45k or more, I don't think I could justify one over a 335i coupe..the BMW would be way nicer inside to live with day-in day-out and a much more enjoyable drive (better overall performance).
  21. But in reality, with dealer 'market adjustment', it will probably be north of $50k...
  22. I do like the interior, though....the exterior isn't impressive, but Acura does know how to do nice interiors......
  23. Not exactly..the Omni and Rabbit had a similar shape, but didn't share a platform or body panels... (though I think some of the early Omnis had VW engines?).
  24. The problem is that a lot of Chrysler's $25k car interiors look like they came from a $15k car.... they aren't even price point competitive at $25k, let alone $40k.
