  1. Agreed...'badge-engineered' to me are where the cars have very minor superficial (non-metal) cosmetic differences--examples of badge-engineering incl. Dodge & Plymouth Neon, late '90s Malibu & Cutlass, the GM U-vans, the Cobalt and Pursuit/G4/G5, Colorado and Canyon, the '90s Chrysler Cirrus/Dodge Stratus/Plymouth Breeze,'80s Ford Escort/Mercury Lynx etc...
  2. Interesting..the greenhouse in profile reminds me a bit of the Fusion/Milan. I assume this will be based on the Euro Accord as with the previous one?
  3. You in marketing?
  4. Same here...as a GC owner, it's probably the only Chrysler product I'd seriously consider buying now...though I'm looking forward to seeing the Challenger..it's definitely a car I wouldn't mind having down the road. I like aspects of the 300 and Charger, but I don't think I'd buy either one.
  5. Agreed... though changing a front clip is much cheaper than changing a greenhouse..anything that affects door and window openings is very expensive, I think. Historically GM has never put too much effort in distinguishing Chevy and GMC truck and SUV styling... look at the Canyon and Colorado for recent examples, or the previous generation pickups and full-size SUVs. Though with the Trailblazer and Envoy they did a bit more than usual. With cars and crossovers, I think GM has done a great job with differentiating all the Epsilons and Lambdas, though..
  6. Sure it does..it doesn't compete with the Escalade. The Escalade really only has one competitor--the Navigator.
  7. Yeah, but that's a trivial thing...the greenhouse and doors and the same, as are the rear quarters and hatch...that's where the GMC and Chevy look much the same..
  8. You mean the front fenders? Yes, they are different. The Durango and Aspen also have different rear quarter panels..
  9. Agreed...I'm glad they are offering a sunroof..that's an annoying omission with the Mustang...it hasn't offered a sunroof since the Fox era, and that was a cheesy pop-up. The Challenger looks great in black and silver, I wouldn't go for the orange..too loud. It's too bad it's not yet offered in white. White w/ a black interior would be perfect.
  10. Not quite..the Aura and G6 share no sheetmetal or interiors; the differences between the Yukon and Tahoe are quite trivial.
  11. I went out to the Chrysler website today and checked out the Challenger pics...did a build my own (very short option list) and it came out to $41,995 with gas guzzler tax.
  12. Yes, but at least the Lambdas aren't badge-engineered like the U vans were.....the vans only differed trivially--grilles, emblems.. but, yes, the Lambdas essentially are the vans' replacements.
  13. I wonder how the uniforms will look...gold, blue and red velour like TOS? I think part of the plot line is when Kirk and Spock first meet, and their early days on the Enterprise..
  14. Yeah..the Altima used to a small midsize or compact, then grew and overlapped the Maxima.. and the Maxima used to be primarily a FWD sports sedan but the current generation seems to be moving more towards a large pseudo-luxury FWD model like the Avalon..
  15. Minor cosmetic changes to the exterior...the decklid and maybe front fenders are the only metal changes I can see..the rest of the exterior changes are just plastic..
  16. Ahh... but I couldn't imagine anyone taking a LaCrosse more than 80 mph, though... what's the point.
  17. ????? Faster than a GNX?
  18. Not likely...Plymouth was in a state of decline for at least 25 years before they were axed..
  19. True...I would say Chrysler has no badge-engineered models currently (except for the Sprinter, though the MB it's BE-ed from isn't sold here, and maybe the minivans). It's not like the '90s when there was a Dodge and Plymouth Neon and the midsize models (Cirrus/Stratus/Breeze) had identical metal, with only different grilles/taillights... The Aspen/Durango are about as differentiated as the Tahoe/Yukon...just enough to not be truly badge-engineered.
  20. Great TG segment..neat little car.
  21. These are great...keep 'em coming.
  22. 50 cents on a gallon isn't much, though. The government wastes billions on pointless wars, why not spend some on infrastructure?
  23. Mmmm....squishy plastics. One thing I wish more makers would do is not just use soft plastics on the dash top, but on the door panels, center console and lower dash...I hate the rock-hard cheap plastics in those areas in so many vehicles today..
  24. Maybe Chrysler can hook up with VW.... DCX didn't work, maybe they need to try another German partner..
  25. Nothing wrong with that..esp. if the tax were used for road construction, energy research, etc..
