Yeah...easy enough to do, since the GT-R in the past has always been a Skyline... it's too bad they don't call the new one Skyline, since GT-R by itself is so generic, while 'Skyline' is very evocative...reminds me of fast drives along Skyline Drive (an incredible road in the Santa Cruz mountains in the SF Bay Area).

With the changes in CAFE regs coming, I wouldn't be surprised if M-B didn't start offering 6-cyl S-classes and SLs in the US again...

i think she's referring to the G35/G37, which are called the Skyline in the Japan (the new GT-R is not a Skyline).

Heh-heh...the RL, TL and even Accord interiors are way nicer, IMHO, than anything from GM (except for the CTS)...

I'd like to see Pontiac thrive...but I keep coming back to the hard facts---GM has about 25% market share in the US...do they REALLY need 8 brands???

I've been involved for about 3 years with a group here in Littleton.. a group of friends got me involved, and it's fun..it's an all-night relay walk around a park in June. I know many people affected by cancer, incl. losing my father, an uncle, and an aunt to various cancers, and a friend (who's also in the Relay every year) that lost his wife to breast cancer at 35.

They need to dump the lifers..they have proven ineffective. New blood would help the company in the long term.

Chrysler has tried that with the Compass and Patriot..cheap and nasty. Not a successful move.

The reliability issue is one reason I wouldn't want to drive an oldie very often. The other reasons for me are the lack of modern brakes, lack of modern safety features, and lack of modern creature comforts (i.e. giant steering wheels w/ a skinny, hard rim and no tilt, uncomfortable vinyl seats, am radio, no cupholders, no a/c, etc are a turn off). For a daily driver, less than 10 years old/100k miles is my threshold.

Yeah, apparently amongst some people in India, small SUVs are called 'jeeps' in a generic sense...I worked with a guy from India that referred to his Rav4 as a jeep, event though it's not a Jeep..

That would be interesting..I've always thought of Hummer as macho bling poser junk, while Jeep was the brand with legit 4wd history and capability...

I could see that happening... the Genesis will either be a dud or a hit, I think. Is the Azera sticking around or is the Genesis more-or-less replacing it? Oddly, the Hyundai website lists the Azera as 2007, while the other models are 2008..

There's a really clean silver w/ red vinyl top '76 GP around here I see occasionally... I like those mid '70s ones. I haven't seen a '78-80 in years, I've always liked that style..
