  1. Mercedes is staying in the taxi cab market for a long while. It's that volume that keeps the lights on and the only way Mercedes can survive. Cadillac doesn't need to build for the taxi market.... Chevy can do that. (though local taxis seem to have gone Nissan/Hyundai)
  2. With a different face, I could totally be into this vehicle.
  3. Because this article is about the 2020 E-Class which is not yet for sale. There will be like 3 months of production overlap. Why are you insisting on comparing a new vehicle to something that already has an end date announced. But if you insist... the XTS STILL has a more powerful engine at a substantially lower price than the E-Class.
  4. Doesn't change things. XTS is a dead Merlette. IF Cadillac continues rental fleet sales, it will be with the CT6, with a much more powerful V6 and more space.
  5. Well at $59,900, the 2020 CT6 comes with a V6 base and rakes the E-class over the coals in space and comfort. There is no 2020 XTS.
  6. Not beating on the E-Class for taxi duty... that makes it durable. But a certain someone likes to point out how many e-classes are sold each year in comparison to a certain domestic luxury brand that doesn't build vehicles for taxi duty, and if they did, would get raked over the coals for it. It's merely pointing out the double standard of that certain someone.
  7. The Lexus GX 460 is one of those vehicles that just keeps on being sold in spite of being rather old. For 2020, the GX 460 gets a face lift, a new safety system, and an available all-new off-road package. Starting off with the styling, Lexus added a giant spindle grille to the front, apparently borrowed from the larger LX. Lexus also added Lexus Safety System+ as a standard feature across the lineup. This addition means that now all Lexus vehicles have standard active safety equipment. The Safety System+ on the GX 460 consists of Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Intelligent High Beams, and High-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. The new available off-road package offers multi-terrain monitor, panoramic view monitor, transmission cooler, fuel tank protector, crawl control, and multi-terrain select. The suspension is Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that helps level out the vehicle in different load conditions to keep all four wheels on the ground. On-road smoothness is helped by the Adaptive Variable Suspension that uses electronically controlled shocks that can be selected to Normal, Sport, or Comfort modes depending on the driver's mood. The standard and only engine remains the same, a 4.6-liter V8 producing 301 horsepower 329 lb-ft of torque. The updated 2020 Lexus GX 460 arrives at dealerships this fall. View full article

  9. BMW is studying ways to give its performance M-Division special models not based on any current or former BMW. BMW has already apparently decided which class of car the models will be in, but will not reveal details on it just yet. Multiple concepts are being studied. The comments came from Markus Flasch, BMW's head of in-house tuning. Further up for debate is whether the models would be internal combustion or electric or a blend of both. Whichever form they take, the M cars would "fit our character.... a combination of precision, agility, and luxury", though they would not necessarily be positioned above the M8. Having standalone models would help BMW's M-Division better compete with Mercedes-Benz AMG View full article

  11. If so.... ew....
  12. Yeah, I saw e-class taxis when I was in Paris last year.
  13. I don't either. ------- Anyway... it is always difficult for me to write articles about Mercedes-Benz because my fingers always type Mercedes-Benx....
  14. All the black E-classes near me are typically airport hire cars.
  15. I think GM has the nicest of the mid-size truck interiors, but yes, what they charge for a Denali trim is a joke. Ford should be embarrassed about the Focus interior they put in the Ranger. It is easy to forget that the current Ranger is not a new truck, it's just new to the US. I'm not expecting a Lincoln in there, but it needed to be more up-to-date than what we got.
  16. No... It was a trolling post about EVs that had nothing to do with the topic on hand. If you're going to troll, since you love to troll, since at least 50% of your posts are now just EV trolling, at least troll on topic.
  17. The 2020 E-Class is moving to a new base engine and at the same time, changing the base designation from E300 to E350. The updated 2.0-liter turbo-charged 4-cylinder makes slightly (14) more horsepower at 255 than the outgoing engine, and the torque stays the same at 273 lb-ft. C&D tested the old E300 and found the zero to 60 mph time to be lackluster at 6.5 second. The new engine shaves half a second off the C300 4Matic and could make similar improvements in the E350. Power is routed through a 9-speed automatic. Mercedes 4Matic can be ordered for an additional $2,500. Along with the engine change comes a base price increase of $550. View full article

  19. It was trolling and not even close to the topic of tariffs.
  20. There's also that Nissan Frontier level interior.....
  21. Don't change the wording and intent of someone's post like that ocn.
  22. The 737 Max issue was human error in terms of making optional a safety feature that should have been standard. I'm sure the B-52s have seen a lot of updates.... but like I mentioned, they're not building new ones. One of the things that Trump scrapped was the replacement for the KC Tankers. It was going to cost some ungodly amount to replace them with a new design when the current ones work perfectly fine and the AF likes them. Why not build new ones of the same design then?
  23. Yeah, I know they upgrade the old ones, but instead of spending a trillion dollars on the new F35, why not build new F16s and F18s with upgraded engines etc? They're not building any new B-52s.... I'm saying they should be. Just reuse the old design for the airframe (since it was apparently so good) and upgrade the engines and electronics. Same idea as the fact that Boeing still builds 737, but upgrades them in various ways.
