  1. but how much wider was it?
  2. So the current site skin we are using was only a temporary fix. The prior skin did not render properly on certain brower/OS combinations so I had to change it quickly. I have a new skin installed and have been testing it for about two weeks. I am getting ready to switch the site over to the new skin very soon. This new theme is very mobile friendly and will allow you to use C&G from your phone or tablet much easier than you can today. I invite you to try the new skin by scrolling to the bottom of any page, click Change Theme, and pick the theme named Nerva. To switch back, pick the theme named Haze. As always please report any issues in this thread.
  3. Again.. irrelevant and wrong. Cadillac has a 420HP, 460 ft lb V8 in their most recognizable vehicle, the Escalade. They also will have V8 in the CTS-V and CT6. That still completely ignores the fact that their TTv6s from 3.0L to 3.6L encompass ground from 400hp to 464hp. Also in the 2007 Cadillac had a S/C V8 with 469HP and a N/A one with 403HP. U are ignoring all of that for the simpleton sake of your argument...again.. against anything positive from Cadillac I was only using base V8s to make the comparison easy. Because this is also about the mainstream engines, as the Northstar was main Cadillac engine of the 90s. Mercedes had a 622 hp supercharged V8 in the SLR in 2007, I guess I could compare that to the 469 hp Cadillac supercharged V8. But that wouldn't really seem fair. Bud get it thru your SKULL.. if GM wanted to produce a 622HP V8 in 2007 they would have. Furthermore if my memory serves me right the SLR's engine was actually more developed by Mclaren, cost about $500K and never met the goals of sales that Mercedes set for it Oh, well if 3rd party tuners count, Lingenfelter offers a 670 hp / 600 lb-ft tune for the 2007 Z-06
  4. By that thinking, the Corvette should lose the V8 in favor of turbo 4 and turbo V6 engines, because the Corvette is lighter than a GT-R or Mercedes SL, and the Corvette can do with less power. A 300 hp Turbo 4 would give the Corvette the same power as in 1996, and a 400 hp turbo V6 would give the same power as 2005, so that should be adequate, since the imports weight more. Sure... if my thinking was so narrow minded like yours in that there is only one way to skin a cat..... but there are multiple paths to the same performance goal. Lately, the German's have been taking a 1960s domestics approach ... their vehicle weights keep creeping up and up so their response is to just throw more power at the car to keep up with acceleration expectations. Cadillac is taking a different path. They are going on an extreme weight loss plan while still increasing power though not quite as much. The CT6 is larger than the short wheel base 7 series but weighs about the same as a 335xi. It is a few inches shorter than an S-Class but weighs the same as a C350. The ability to do that kind of weight cutting is going to put the Germans at a huge disadvantage as Cadillac rolls this technology out to other vehicles.
  5. I can't decide if I like this or not..... I'm leaning towards not. I suppose it will make an okay cop car.
  6. My contention is over the word "Branded" I think you're right...
  7. Heh... Cadillac is right there in 2015, but they are producing it with 2 fewer cylinders. They have two V6es that put out similar numbers and when put into vehicles that are lighter, roughly equal the power to weight ratio of the Germans. Note that in the E/CLS/M Classes, Mercedes detunes the 4.7 liter to 402hp and 443 lb-ft, so compared to a CTS-VSport, the E-Class has less power, one less gear, and more weight.
  8. 2. False 3. Jaguar is at least one of the Ford users. Facel Vega used a Hemi I believe..... though I think you are going to get a bit of contention over the wording of this question. 4. not at all
  9. That sounds like Ford's modular engine idea from the last 25 years... It goes back s lot further than that.
  10. the engines will be different I assume.... they can't sell that here with only that mill.
  11. and in theory, you can use the same pistons from the 2.0 in the 3.0 and 4.0.
  12. Sorry guys, comments got wiped out due to my error.
  13. Interesting... sounds like some Voltec and some 2-Mode-Hybrid technology combining into a single car.
  14. Keep in mind that the Cadillac El Miraj had a 4.5 liter twin-turbo V8 that produced 500 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. Seeing as the new 3.0TT can produce 400 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque (133 hp/l) the El Miraj's numbers seem about 100hp and 100 lb-ft soft. My take? The horsepower number of the concept is the correct one, but Cadillac will do it with 4 liters instead of 4 and a half.
  15. Looks more Buick than the current model, but I'm still not quite sold yet.
  16. I can't decide if I like it or not. I'm leaning towards not.
  17. Does this app to any vehicle diagnostics? For example, we get a monthly report via Email from OnStar on the status of our Buick. When we get close to needing an oil change, they even email our dealership who then emails us to set up an appointment. We can check the tire pressure remotely from the app.
  18. Dodge should make an EV version of the Dart called the Colt.
  19. Sorry.. I meant to rep you up and I reped you down by accident.... I'm too dumb to use my own website. Also, I mentioned your prior issues with the Cruze diesel to a rep from Chevy. He said that if you have any such issues again that you give him a call.
  20. My impression is that this is an all new engine.
  21. Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen is known for slipping out little bits of information. Case in point was earlier today when an analyst in a Facebook group said Cadillac would axing the V8 from most of their models aside from Cadillac CTS-V and Escalade. Johan joined the discussion and went on to correct this by stating that there will be a new V8 engine that will be purpose built for Cadillac. In Johan's words, "There absolutely will be another state -of - the -art mega powerful highly efficient new 8- cylinder from Cadillac, besides the CTS- V engine. Purpose designed for Cadillac....the V8 Cadillac is alive and well today, and will be in even better shape tomorrow." Now, news of a forthcoming Cadillac V8 isn't breaking news. Johan has previously hinted at a twin-turbo V8 coming for the Cadillac CT6, but it was interesting to see Cadillac's President join in a Facebook discussion and give us more description of the engine. I contacted a Cadillac spokesman about the exchange and he pointed out such an engine will appear in "later in the second half of this decade". So look for Cadillac CT6 to gain a V8 in the 2017-2018 time frame. Source: Facebook View full article

  23. Actually, I think their motivation was different than that. I think they were looking at a way to try and recoup costs from the Volt powertrain. It wasn't a "See if it sticks..." it was a "we need it to stick".
  24. I think it has a lot to do with expectations. I personally was not disappointed with the CT6, but I'm sure there are those that were expecting an El Miraj.... so the CT6 would seem like a disappointment.
  25. GM has been moving away from 6-way power seat on everything that has MSRPs principally below $30k. I've registered my displeasure with this to the Buick people regarding the Encore and Verano.
