Cadillac News: Rumorpile: The Three-Row Cadillac Crossover Has Been Shelved
They have an SUV in the small class.... the SRX is the same size interior as the X3 and GLK. Sure it is larger on the outside, but that doesn't appear to be SRX hurting sales as it is still easily outselling its German rivals at that price point. Cadillac needs an X5 sized SUV (interior room) and that is what the new 2-row crossover in this article should accomplish.

I think major refreshes like the lambdas count. Its okay to use tge platform again when the platform is good, and lambda sales prove that to be the case. VW is another story. Their platforms are good but the refreshes far too conservative. The Jetta just got a face lift..... did anyone even notice?

I upgraded the visual theme for the board yesterday and forgot to shut that option off.

Toyota ends deal with Tesla on RAV4 EV and bets on Hybrid Fuel Cell Auto's
Now? No.... wait for the company valuation to come back closer to reality first. I don't think any company would buy them right now with a $28B stock market valuation.... that is a guarantee to lose money.

No... he'll sell to one of the big-guys first. I could see one of the Germans trying to pick up Tesla or possibly even GM. GM sees them as enough of a threat and has the "if you can't beat'em, buy'em" mentality that Google and Microsoft have.

Vehicle: Volkswagen Beetle TDi (2013)
Well, it does have tiny 16 inch wheels, compared to 20 or more of '14 era SUVs. Michelins on the DTS were around $800 last year IIRC. 15s on the CR-V would have been $560 out the door I think for Michelins had I not had a good treadwear warranty.

You can always wait a couple years and pick up a CPO one... Since modern trucks hold their value so well, new almost makes sense to buy new. QFT.... I regularly see Avalanches, 2010 and older, with 60k+ miles that are still commanding $35k The latest thing I've seen is the Jeep Grand Cherokees. A 2013 with 45k miles (how does someone even do that?!?) for basically the same price as a new one.... what's the point? Even our Encore is holding its value very nicely... we'll probably end up buying it out at the end of the lease because it will be worth more than we owe on it. I saw an Encore on the road the other day. I am not a crossover/fourdoor kind of a guy, but that thing tempted me. VERY nice vehicle. Same with the Grand Cherokee you are talking about. I cannot think of ANY european or asian SUV at ANY price that I would rather have. American car makers are really, really bringing their A game and it shows. It was out of place in our driveway over the weekend while I was working on the other car.... I was admiring it from another perspective as I was sitting on the ground. It really is a perky, spunky little bulldog of a car, yet with luxury appointments. I'm very happy with it. At the end of June we'll have had it 10 months... it has 8000 miles on it now... probably won't see 8500 before July 1 (at which point we go away for a few weeks). The buyout on the lease in 14 months is $21.8k and KBB values it at $29k now on a vehicle we leased for $32.5k. I think I won this bet.

Cadillac News: Rumorpile: The Three-Row Cadillac Crossover Has Been Shelved
Well... they're not. The Dodge brand is converting to a sporting brand. The T&C will carry on. One less badge engineered vehicle at the Chrysler company now. I think it has more to do with the fact that the direct competition in that price class is predominantly 2-row crossovers. Except for the stupid niche vehicles, Cadillac wants to have an option, model for model, for everything you might buy at the BMW dealership up the street.

Cadillac News: Rumorpile: The Three-Row Cadillac Crossover Has Been Shelved
Interesting.... I wonder if the SRX will go down in exterior size while staying the same in interior size. (It's X3 sized inside while almost X5 sized outside) Then this new crossover could be an X5/M-Class direct competitor. My concern would be about body-mass. Unless the new platform sheds a lot of mass, building a 2-row crossover on a 3-row platform could lead to an overly heavy SUV.

Toyota ends deal with Tesla on RAV4 EV and bets on Hybrid Fuel Cell Auto's
Stock price has nothing to do with Tesla's cash situation. As long as they have cash... they can build cars. Elon Musk is worth $11.6 billion alone.... as long as he is willing to put cash into the company, Tesla will survive. Tesla is a personal source of pride for Elon, so I don't think he'll walk away that easily.
