  1. Buckle up! Edit: One thing I can point out.... in "normal" mode, you will experience what will feel like turbo lag on a sharp stab of the accelerator. It isn't turbo lag, it is the transmission trying to be frugal while you're trying to have fun. Sport mode removes this inconvenience... and then you really do need to buckle up.
  2. Probably can be over-built relatively easily.
  3. All of the Passats I've driven have felt vault solid.... the only time I was ever disappointed with one was when the 2.5 had taken up residence under the hood like a rabid raccoon.
  4. Asian style chicken noodle soup with little shrimps also hidden in there...... I don't eat shellfish.
  5. A Plug-in electric with on-board regenerator would be an excellent option for Rolls customers. Lots of low end torque long with silent running are a Rolls specialty.
  6. GM has the 410hp Twin-Turbo V6 available in the V-Sport model.... it's got a lot of spank. Pretty much negates the need for a V8 unless you are going for V-Series type extremes.
  7. And the naming convention no longer makes sense either. CTS the S stood for "sedan" until the CTS Coupe and CTS Wagon came out, but CTC and CTW don't roll off the tongue well. Now there is an ATS Coupe coming out.
  8. I just want to do it right since I only intend to do it once. Since we're funding the whole thing ourselves, I need to put money away for it.
  9. I have three little letters that are the biggest reason to be against franchise laws: ADM
  10. Heh. Thank you, but you're about 3 years too late. The whole thing was a mistake on Albert's part. He accidentally deleted me from his Facebook friends list and when he re-added me we had to re-establish that part of our profiles as well. To those of you wondering... Albert and I are engaged...and have been for some time.
  11. I think adults would buy an AWD Camaro if they live in an area where AWD is an advantage for year-round driving. For many people who need a year-round car, not having AWD available in a RWD car means the car gets crossed off the list.
  12. That's why I suggested that at 80k units, a 30% take rate would put it over 100k... some of those would be sales to people who would have bought anyway, but I think you would have a large jump in sales in the northern states.
  13. All of this chafe at the idea of adding an option to the camaro that would broaden its appeal without watering down the core of the car at all. Are you *that* afraid of change?
  14. Even a 30% take rate in awd could push camaro sales to over 100k units a year from the 80k they are selling now.
  15. Those that fail to evolve in a changing market, die. The Camaro already died once, want to see it happen again? The Eclipse died because it gained weight, lost AWD and the excellent 2.0t.
  16. I'd pick the next escalade from the one you list as more definitive for Cadillac.
  17. For freight, yes. Passenger lines have less stringent requirements.
  18. It was put in place to prevent the manufacturer from coming in and undercutting existing franchises on pricing. But those rules dont seem to apply in Fast Food or Hotels, so why should it apply to cars? In Tesla's case, there are no Tesla franchises to complete with, thus it should be free to sell direct.
  19. If this were say, Carbon Motors, and they were trying to sell a civi version of their diesel sedan through direct sales channels and getting shut down by NJ... you'd certainly be crying foul and yellin about freedoms and the 'merican way.
  20. Cable cars don't need traction... that is what he was referring to. You are right that trains have to keep it very low. The Horse Shoe Curve in Altoona PA is a 1.8% grade and most loaded freight trains require helpers on the back end. It is considered one of the tougher rail grades in the country.
  21. I should measure the incline of my driveway (and seek out Canton Street when I get back home someday) But I can tell you this. When I needed to load something heavy into my Avalanche, I didn't need a ramp. I would roll whatever it was up my drive way, leave it there, back the Avalanche up to the driveway to where the rear tires were exactly at the change of angle, lower the tailgate, and then I could roll whatever it was into the bed of the truck with no step.
  22. The aftermarket stereo system seems pretty dead to me
  23. Are you suggesting that I can't? It is much easier to get around in a snow storm with winter tires if you never have hills to climb... but in an area like mine, snow tires will only help so much.
  24. I did okay with my 2004 CTS and snow tires but my steep driveway and certain roads could become impassible rather quickly in a winter like we are having this year. Yet our CR-V and Encore both scamper up a snow covered driveway with no drama.
