  1. Fact check: For $22k, no Cobalt is going to lap the Nürburgring, its not sold in Germany. And with a booster seat, its easy enough to get a kid in back. I could see someone morbidly obese having a problem turning around to buckle the seatbelt, but lets face it, morbidly obese people dont buy small cars.
  2. John Hinckley, Jr. was never convicted of busting a cap in Reagan's ass, found not guilty by reason of insanity. You think that guys ever getting out? Nope. This dude is never going to be a free man again.
  3. Leftover '08s
  4. The 2nd generation S-cars. When all they did was a facelift instead of keeping the cars ahead of the competition, they sealed Saturn's fate. Second place goes to the Relay, first Saturn without polymer panels.
  5. I've seen the error of my ways. I'm going up to the Ford dealership this morning, we'll trade both of our cars in on Taurii. Really, you're of the opinion that people shouldn't spend money on fun cars? The Cobalt SS is old, crude and bland compared to a Cooper. And the interior on the new Coopers is fantastic, better than what BMW had in the first cars. The C30 would've been a fine choice, but just on looks alone its the polar opposite of the cute, fun MINI.
  6. A commercial for a local Chevy dealer just advertised new Cobalts for $8,995. That says it all.
  7. Pie

Always looking for a way to judge people aren't you? And my "Obesity Tax" thread didn't go over too well. And I still want pie.
  8. Those folding bikes are great space savers, but have drawbacks when they have to be used as bikes. My bike has quick release wheels, but that doesn't help when you've only got 6 inches between the back of the driver's seat and the back of the car. Ok, its not quite that tight, but the Prius is no LeSabre. Speaking of the LeSabre, I've learned that Craigslist is a great tool to find pre-loved 307s (got mine at a yard for like twice what they're going for on CL ) but its damn near impossible to find a 4bbl carb on the cheap. DAMMIT! I just found a knocking 307 an hour away for $50. I'm thinking my dream of having a V8 coffee table base will be coming true.
  9. Check all your options, 3.2 and 3.5 with and without transmission. Even if you do pull the transmission out of a wrecked car or something, it would still be a crap shoot. There is a reason I go with the numbers, the numbers never lie.
  10. Sludge Swap for Dummies? And I'll go on record right now as saying you'll probably regret re-using the transmission without having it rebuilt. Those things aren't exactly known for being indestructible.
  11. You cannot appreciate good wine until you've succumb to bad wine.
  12. Whatever is cheapest. Wal-Mart sells Yellowtail for like $4.99/bottle.
  13. Pie

Whole 'nother topic my friend....whole 'nother topic.
  14. JCW close enough? I'd love the chance to roll in a John Cooper Works MINI, I'd be willing to bet that even with "only" 208hp, it hauls ass and provides as much amusement as any driver can somewhat legally get.
  15. Cobalt SS/TC has a higher base price than a Cooper S and has far fewer options available.
  16. I'm a moron. I wanted to go biking this afternoon, but I sold my bike rack after unloading the Fusion. Oops. And the car I bought solely to transport sporting goods is in a billion pieces. Oops, again. I *think* I can get my bike in the Prius if I clean out the trunk and back seat, it my be a wee bit long.
  17. Good luck. Engine swaps are a blast. The secret lair is quite the sight to see, two giant old Olds blocks sitting there, stripped down to nothing, parts everywhere, and the poor, lonely Buick with no hood and no engine. And no doors. On the bright side, you dont need the Intrepid right now (at least I assume, since its been sitting for months) so you cant take your time.

This blows. I fell asleep just fine, then at 2:55, I woke up. No reason, no car alarms going off, no being kneed in the groin my another person (happened once, pretty much the most awful thing ever) nothing, just up. I'm debating going back to bed for an hour until the alarm goes off. I could get an early start on my day, go jogging an hour earlier, then see if I can get some work done before I have to be out and about.
  19. And you've just hit the nail on whats wrong with the car buying public. Scraping together a few hundred bucks for a down payment, then never-ending monster payments, thats a recipe for disaster.
  20. Since neither car in my garage cost more than $28k after haggling, half as much would be $14k, which isn't going to get you much of a Cobalt, maybe an XFE, which might get about the same MPG as we're getting out of the MINI, a very consistent 37 on mostly highway driving. The Cobalt will come nowhere near the Prius. Plus, the Cobalt wont have nearly as much "stuff" as either of the other cars, things like leather, sunroof, backup camera, nav, killer stereo, yadda yadda yadda. Plus, both cars feel like a Rolls Royce after you've been in a Cobalt.
  21. DICK That sums up my personality nicely.
  22. Pie

Jill makes a banana cream pie that is amazing. She wont tell me her secret, but I have a feeling it involves cocaine. Pumpkin pie is awesome as well. Alas, I shall have no pie tonight.

I want pie. Coconut cream preferably.

Set in your mind the minimum you'll take for the truck, they'll try to use things like a missing mirror and lack of a catalytic converter to drive down your trade-in. If possible, have an independent mechanic look at the Camaro, you can never be too careful when your looking at that many miles, especially if its going to be a daily driver.
