  1. Maybe on Monday I'll borrow a Tundra for "work purposes" and tow the thing.
  2. I'm pretty sure video games are preparing the next generation to be even lazier and more stoned than the current one.
  3. Trust me, if you hate being around people, you'll really hate Branson. No matter what time of year, you're surrounded by people. Not just any people, elderly people. But not just elderly people, elderly tourists. Many of these elderly tourists have their own RVs. Its pretty much hell on earth. The whole "Beauty of the Ozarks" thing is a crock of $h! as well.
  4. PBR all the way Joshiepoo would be a great CEO for GM, imagine the keggers at the RenCen. And I bet JoCaine would be there too!
  5. Not one but two gorgeous white 50's Ford pickups.
  6. Military spy satellite looking for terrorist camels?
  7. The original owner (my friend's grandmother) bought it in '83 and drove it until she passed a couple years ago, after that her daughter took it. The odometer shows 57k and change, its in too terrible of shape for that to not have rolled. Flooring it at a standstill didn't kill it. I know exactly what 307s feel like, and this sedan felt nothing like my wagon, there is definitely a problem somewhere. My carb was missing the choke rod, so the choke would stay about halfway open all the time, unless I was going uphill, when it would close completely. Unfortunately that carb, and the decent carb from my other engine, are both gone. Bastards. I'll play with it a bit tomorrow.
  8. Yeah, its a Quadrajet. I'm going back down there tomorrow, we'll see what some carb cleaner does and I'll double check all the lines.
  9. Going light on the throttle it bogged down, flooring it killed it. I feathered the throttle, then when it started bogging down, I started pumping the throttle, that kept it from dying, once it got up to about 40 it felt normal until about 55. Hills were an absolute bitch, it almost completely lost power. It idles fine. And yes, its in second.
  10. 13C HAHA! Its currently 27C and sunny here
  11. My friend's mom has a Delta 88 with a 307 that she's willing to part with for the right price. That price happens to be less than what a new carburetor would cost me, and as a bonus, I'd get a new AC compressor, radiator and transmission. I took it for a quick spin and it bogs down badly around 30mph. I'm thinking fuel filter or pump. Vapor lock? I only ask because if its a quick, easy fix, I can drive it to the secret lair instead of having to find a trailer or something to tow it with. BTW: By bogging down, I mean its surging, kinda like its not getting fuel to the carb.
  12. I just hope we dont have to buy a new vehicle for a long, long time. But if things work out, it'll be a Mustang convertible.
  13. Ahhhh Branson, the place for people who refuse to accept that the world has moved on.
  14. Chevy drops the Camaro, Pontiac picks it up as the Firebird. Everyone wins.
  15. YOU are the one who brought the MINI into this thread, and now you're agreeing that it shouldn't be mentioned here? Nice.
  16. Is it EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

    I saw...

I accidentally told Hank Williams Jr. that Family Tradition is only tolerable when its sung by drunk people at karaoke night.
  18. StL and KC had extremely limited supplies. When we were looking, OKC had several Coopers with only the premium package, but no complete strippers. Does anyone want a MINI without a sunroof?
  19. When is the last time you saw any MINIs on a lot? They fly off lots, but I digress. You're right, they really dont sompete, the MINI is a premium subcompact, the Cobalt is neither premium (mediocre the right word? probably) nor is it a subcompact. But keep in mind, I'm not the one who brought the Cooper into this conversation.
  20. From Edmunds: 2009 MINI Cooper MSRP-$18,550--TMV--$18,550 2009 Cobalt LT MSRP-$16,460--TMV--$15,774 2009 MINI Cooper S MSRP-$21,950--TMV--$21,950 2009 Cobalt SS MSRP-$23,425--TMV--$22,464 Those are base prices, so it's not that much more, just for the fun of it, I'll add this. 2008 Saturn Astra XR-MSRP-$18,375--TMV--$18,375 Real purchase prices are the difference, because you might be able to get a few hundred bucks off a MINI, depends on how they're feeling that day. Meanwhile, Chevy and Saturn dealers will practically pay a customer to buy their cars.
  21. Saturn did reasonably well at first, it wasn't until they took forever to update the products, and add new products, that things went downhill. That said, GM probably would've been better off if the original Saturns were Chevrolets and the atrocious Cavaliers of the 90's had never been allowed to terrorize society.
  22. Crap, I've got competition for Jodie Foster.
  23. indeed (I keep meaning to make a 98 Regency spoof account and replying "indeed" to everything)
  24. I have a kid, and own a sedan, and didn't pay list on either car. The Cooper is worlds more livable in daily life than a Cobalt. Being 2 feet shorter means its easier to maneuver in traffic and worlds easier to park. And the interior doesn't look like it was separated at birth from the Sterilite tubs my son's toys are in. And the giant sunroof is the next best thing to a convertible on days like today when its 75 and sunny.
