  1. Mass is the enemy of acceleration, therefore shedding weight is adding muscle.
  2. Know what I'd really like as a runabout? This
  3. My friend who test drove a 626 said that the only good thing about it was the swiveling air vents.
  4. You do realize that by lowering the weight, a less powerful Corvette could still run with a more powerful one from a stop, and would handle better, right?
  5. GM should have factored these rebates into the MSRP so they dont have to rely on "$2000 off!!" deals to get people into the showrooms. Currently, there are no rebates on the Aveo, and the red tag price is about $400 less than MSRP. Thats overpriced.
  6. The high end cars are the 2nd biggest reason I like auto shows. Obviously the concepts and new stuff are #1, but getting to see Rolls Royces, Ferraris and the like in the flesh, getting to study the details, thats a great time in my book.
  7. I do miss having a convertible, even if the one I had was a $h!pile. I explained to someone earlier that everytime I heard a funny noise or felt a bump while driving the Sebring, I'd look in my mirror to see if the transmission had fallen out.
  8. So you admit then that GM overpriced it.
  9. $1.58
  10. Quit talking about your car, I cant quit laughing! --An old friend While out for lunch today, I kept making fun of the LeSabre, pointing out things like the wood wallpaper, the missing door handle, the purple window tint and the fact that it only took 3 tries to get it to start on a 19 degree morning.
  11. Ugggg....I dont fit well into Miatas.
  12. I was informed tonight that Katy Perry has some lesbian appeal. Specifically, in response to the song I Kissed a Girl coming on the radio I heard, "I'd kiss Katy Perry."
  13. Thats how I usually am. This year there was outside pressure to get it done quickly and within a budget.
  14. I think the point is to get Congress to give them money.
  15. Its not overpriced but they need to lower the price?
  16. You have your choice of airline and departure times from Detroit to D.C. But you cant dictate the in-flight movie and you have to pay for the booze.
  17. Toys R Us is having a 2-day sale (today and tomorrow) that netted us some good stuff for a steal. I get 40% off anything with a Bass Pro logo (or one of the 8,000 brands that fall under the company's surprisingly large umbrella) and a pretty good discount on other stuff, so we made out pretty well when it comes to clothes and toys. I got my son and my nephew each their own tent and sleeping bag for like $24 when it would have otherwise cost $40, which means more money for other cool stuff. Like Lincoln Logs (which Toys R Us has on sale) and what could be the greatest thing ever in the history of the world, a plush faux bear rug.
  18. I think there was a rumor a while back that the C7 was "only" going to have something like 300-350hp, but they were also planning on shedding weight. The C5 is actually my favorite Corvette, its not as fast or refined as the C6, but it appeals to me more, I cant really put my finger on why. I think we can all agree that the C5 and C6 will be more highly sought in 30 years than any non-ZR-1 C4.
  19. That brings me back to the point that it all starts at the top, and symbolically, it looks really bad for CEOs of functionally bankrupt companies to be flying on private jets and collecting eight figure bonuses. Ever hear of Nero*? *And yes, I know there are accounts that say Nero wasn't in Rome while it was burning, and that he opened his palaces for people who lost their homes, etc.. **Also, quit with the caps, it makes your posts seem as if they were written by a drunken psychopath.
  20. Our '92 went a quarter of a million miles in my family before it was wrecked. It had the radiator replaced at around 200k. I'd go with the older body style because I think it looks better, but the interior and ride of the newer one is better.
  21. Exactly, thats just GM's standard "the good stuff is right around the corner" message that the buying public has been getting burned on for years. They need to show that this is real.
  22. Then wait, because if GM wants to show they're confident in the Volt, they need to show a convoy of them driving through Death Valley. That sends the right message.
  23. The G3 still looks like a Daewoo.
  24. Thats just a traveling auto show, not an actual tour that would generate great PR.
  25. Reg started a thread bitching about either the Oct. or Nov. issue of C&D having an article on fuel efficiency being too geared towards eco-weenies. The same issue had 3 Corvettes and a Bugatti Veyron on the cover. High gas prices are etched into peoples minds, they're going to take mpgs into account when car shopping just because of what we saw this year. And if a person goes to drive a Malibu, and decides to buy it, they could get financing from a million companies that aren't GMAC, so I doubt Malibu sales are suppressed by one company not financing, unless dealers are too lazy to try to find other, reasonable options.
