Wow..

QUOTE(ocnblu @ Jan 28 2008, 01:11 AM) I think I started lurking when I first heard of the new Chevrolet Panther, I think it was 1965. That's the year Al Gore invented the Internet
4. I want GM to take the risk with the Volt and E-Flex thing (and GM seems to be making a genuine effort), but 'seeing is believing' applies here IMO. I think the strategy in Europe will be small turbocharged engines (diesels and gas) and hybrids using something the 2-mode system, maybe in the end a combination of both. I believe that eventually every car will at least be a mild hybrid. Re other posts about BMW and Mercedes, let's see how they do it. I'm curious to see it, but I think they'll just pay the fines and pass the cost on to the consumer. People who buy Chevrolets, Opels and Saabs would not be happy if they were charged more because of GM's non-compliance with CO2 regulations. People who buy BMWs and Mercedes are willing to pay more for 'image', 'status' and similar notions.

8. Hi Bob! I wish you many happy miles with your new car.
9. A report on the limits the European Parliament voted in can be found here. For comparison purposes here are some of the CO2 emissions of some Audi models sold in Europe today (from www.audi.pt): 1. Audi A3 1.9TDI (105hp): 129g/Km 2. Audi A3 3.2V6: 254g/Km 3. Audi A8 3.0TDI Quattro: 227g/Km 4. Audi A8 4.2TDI Quattro: 249g/Km 5. Audi A8 6.0Quattro: 350g/Km I'm sure the Industry is lobbying hard for these decisions to be delayed, but they are definitely facing a big challenge with both this and the CAFE regulations.
10. errrrr.... since English is not my native language, I'll need an explanantion on that one
11. I love the turbine-like wheels!
12. That'd fit with those news of GM wanting Chevrolet to have a green image. I just hope they don't come up with a rule of 'no GM car can be greener than the Volt'...
13. Are you thinking of the Volt being a halo yet affordable car for the Chevy brand in terms of 'greenness'? Much as the Corvette is performance-wise?

21. Here's the link to the Autolog entry.
22. If everyone else is going to build cars like Tata's headline-grabbing Nano, GM's going to pile on, too. The Lutz cites GM's part-ownership stake in Wuling Motors, a Chinese manufacturer of sub-$3,000 utility vehicles as a possible source of a GM Nano competitor. Lutz went on to say that one way to make an inexpensive car for the developing world is to repurpose a legacy platform that has become obsolete. The tooling and design will have long been paid off, and there'll be plenty of experience from the manufacturing side, too. Read the whole article here.

24. Who wrote this one? Are there people that really believe the deportations and mass killings would not have happened if German people could bear arms?
