    My Ride

    Why? BV rides around naked.
  2. I hate change, so I throw it out...that's how baller I am.
  3. Well, LS engines take very well to bolt-ons, so there may be some truth in the headers statement...as far as CAI goes though, I wouldn't count on it...if anything, more in the 5-10hp range...
  4. You should look into doing your springs and shocks. A set of Konis with some eibach or H&R springs and you're good to go. I hate you and your easily/cheapily moddable car though. It's like my buddy with his WRX...he spent about a grand on it, up/down pipes, a computer programmer adapter thing, and with his exhaust he gained over 50hp to the wheels...not cool...I only wish my car took that well to mods. The most bang for the buck crap I can do is either supercharge it (the most cost friendly/best option costing upwards of 6 grand) and do the LSD (which would cost me around 1500 or so for a used M5 diff, not including everything else needed for the install). I'm going to gut my secondary cats though, and I've heard that gives a favorable increase in power to the wheels, so we'll see what happens...should be a cheap, easy mod. Just need some O2 simulators.
  5. I figured some of you may get a kick out of this... http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=522557 Disclaimer: Getting in accidents is not cool/funny. What happened sucks and luckily everyone was alright. After I found out everyone was alright I just had to give a smile at the outcome of the two vehicles, though I'm sure the same would've happened had the sequoia been something else, like a tahoe or whatever and the driver remained the same. If you read through the thread you'll find out what happens...
  6. Awesome Nos! About how much did the entire setup run you? Get that thing on a dyno soon! I want to see what numbers you're puting out. What was your stock diff gearing compared to your new LSD? It should handle and drive (and depending on the gearing, accelerate) so much better with that. I can't wait to get one for my car. Getting that rear sway bar in should help a lot in the handling department as well. Are you running stock suspension (other than the sway) at the moment?

    Pictures!

Hell, I never even saw them...Make with the pics! If you do, I'll make sure to get a pic of me frenching my BMW roundel.
  8. :rotflmao:I <3 Conan Jay can be funny on occasion, but Conan is the greatest...
  9. The M3 will be a beast, of course, with the M5's V-10 minus 2 cylinders, why wouldn't it be? It might be hard for the purists to take though...seeing a V8 in an M3...I mean, the original M3 came with an I4, followed by the I6's, but those lively inline engines were what really made the cars...I'm sure the V8 will be great, but it's just not the same... On another note, I find it interesting what they did with the halos on the headlights...The E90's halo's look sooo stupid. Instead of having a cutoff at the top, they have a cutoff at the bottom...makes them look all googley-eyed. With this though they kind of cut off the top, but they also kinda of half-assed it...instead of designing the housing the correct way which would cut off the rings naturally, they just stopped the celis lighting. (btw, celis is the technology developed by Hella (the headlight manufacturer) for the BMW halos and the LED light bars in the taillights which can kind of be seen illuminated in my sig...they're basically prism light rods more or less) I don't know if I like this new turbo stuff...I know BMW used turbos a bit in the past (most notably on the 2002's, sick cars btw), but generally, BMW has always been about high performance in terms of naturally aspirated engines. This new engine should be magnificent, don't get me wrong...sounds like it will be awesome. Forced induction is a common modification on BMW engines (turbos especially for the I engines...superchargers more for V8's like my engine), but I don't know...I feel kind of apathetic to it being available as standard.
  10. Man...I'm still pissed I didn't know about that earlier...It crashed not too far from me, and had I known, I would dashed over to the scene to take pics/parts... Btw, thanks for the Geology recommendations...I'll have to look into those. You think several million years is all it would take though? I was thinking it would be a longer process...like tens of hundreds of millions of years... Edit: here's an interesting tidbit I just found... http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap001002.html

    airbags

People get burned by airbags regardless if they have cigarettes...the chemicals used with the airbags does it.

    ...

Actually, the X5 has them lower on the door like that...kinda...It's pretty annoying and I hate having to reach for them when I'm driving the X5
  13. *at a BA convention* *Croc stands up* "Hello everyone, my name is Croc, and I have a problem" *everyone else* "Hello Croc."
  14. Congrats Bimmer! (of course, any guy with "Bimmer" as his name would get my vote... :AH-HA_wink: ) And BV, honestly, what do you contribute that can be seen as reason for you to be on the staff? On second though, don't answer that...
  15. Yea..I bet you're wishing you had the interior of an FJ right about now...

  19. Well, it's a good starting age... That's about the time when I accidentally discovered it anyways...I won't go into details...

That's just rediculous!...insane in the membrane...hopefully the guy get's taken care of accordingly. I love the comments about "Oh, a BMW would never do this" and "This is why you pay a premium for German cars"... :rotflmao: I just can't help but laugh...I mean, as you guys know I love German cars, especially BMW's, but "German" and "reliability" don't belong in the same sentence...Hell, they don't even belong in the same paragraph...
  22. Well, it also helps a lot for cornering as well...infact, that's what it was mostly intended for...If you want a diff strictly for drag purposes, you go with posi.
  23. Yea, the tab goes straight out to reveal the high pressure washers and it sprays the headlights...that simple...older bimmers used to have the wipers also. I've seen the spray nozzles work...pretty nifty...nothing we'd need out here in SoCal though, but still kinda neat nonetheless...
  24. Well, one you are supposed to pop out with a screwdriver... The one on the bumper pops out for the tow hook to be inserted...a lot of cars, and nearly all BMW's have this... The ones under the headlights are electronic and pop out for the headlight washers. As far as the design goes, Thanks Bangle!
  25. I didn't know cars were still available with ABS only as an option...I'd say ABS is a must... LSD, well, if it's available then go for it. Is the gearing the same on the LSD as it is on the open diff? The LSD will drastically improve performance, especially from a dig and through the corners (especially the corners). It will allow more power to be applied to the wheels that need it most, and it will allow greater corner exiting speeds. IMO, it's a must have. It pisses me off BMW didn't atleast have it as an option for e39's...only the M5 got LSD...One of my next major mods is hunting down a 3.15 LSD from an M5...(my current is a 2.81 oped-diff, that's what 6-speeds got, autotragics got a 3.15 open-diff to help compensate a bit)...
