  1. What he said. There's a good chance that if you tell her how you feel, it may prematurely ruin the relationship she has with the man she's with. Now the man you hardly know is gonna be sour, and you don't know what he's capable of, or if he will do something drastic. Christian or not, he's only human. Or, if she feels nothing for you, the relationship will go on, and she will be made more nervous when you're around. You will become more distant than before. Worst case scenarios, basically. If you're already somewhat close with her, you have a better chance of winning her over. However, your posts indicate that you are not, so I'd either wait it out or keep fishing. You could try getting closer to her, as a friend. You might catch her on the rebound if the relationship goes south. Or, she might get married, and you'll have wasted your time, so to speak. Additionally, befriending her if you have feelings for her could be torturous, and it's also mildly deceptive if you have an alterior motive. Dishonesty is a rather universal turn-off.
  2. Rest in peace, Dimebag. Or rock out in the afterlife. Whatever you'd prefer to do, really.
  3. My wife and I visited the site a couple of days ago. She's apparently not a fan of the Astra's styling. Damn shame, too, because I'd buy it.
  4. *Insert condescending remark about Toyota's so-called quality standards*
  5. I saw Megadeth a couple years ago. I think Dave Mustaine has been the only consistent member in the band's history.
  6. Yeah... The longer wheelbase definitely wouldn't help. What I don't get is that the G6 gets a worse frontal impact rating than the Saab. Let's not forget that the architecture beneath the Saab 9-3 and the G6 Convertible aren't interchangeable. Saab kinda went their own way with the chassis. There was an article about it awhile back in regards to the need to truly globalize GM's platforms.
  7. Hmm. Linkin Park's alright, but I like my coffee a little bit than that.
  8. I just read that the Surface doesn't use an actual touch screen, but a series of five infrared cameras to monitor touch and movement on the screen. They can possibly identify the devices via their barcode, their visual appearance, or simply their footprint. It's possible these devices use wifi or bluetooth to connect to the Surface, rather than UWB (which I think doesn't exist yet).
  9. By the way, what does "You can why so, if you choose" mean?
  10. If I were to guess, it caught fire because of poorly installed mods. VW quality might not be stellar, but it's not this bad.
  11. In sad news today, six people were killed when a VW Bus crashed into a concrete wall. The only survivors were the Mexican stowaways beneath the cargo canopy.
  12. I believe the expression is "water under the bridge", though perhaps you mean "water over the dam" without the N at the end. Water over the dam has rather destructive implications, whereas "water under the bridge" basically means you've made amends.
  13. Doh! Congrats, though, on your purchse. I wonder what a 6-speed transmission might be like. I've driven nothing but four-speeds all my life.
  14. My wife wants a beige "coffee-colored" HHR. Beige and silver have to be my least favorite colors, though, primarily because they are extremely common. The appeal of White and Black, as stated above, depends on the car. A white sedan is lame. A white coupe or roadster, on the other hand, looks angelic. Black looks good on cars like the GTO, Charger, and Intrigue. It doesn't look so good on less menacing cars.
  15. Also, There are a number of technologies in the works, such as what is basically the wireless version of USB, and of course RFIDs and other identifying marks will probably also come into play.
  16. Adobe had a video demonstration for a very similar piece of hardware/software (basically a multi-point touch screen). I just don't know where to find it at this point. As for the flexible screen, the implications are massive, but the standard newspaper format is bulky and cumbersome. Interactive news would best be served on a Tablet-sized PC, or possibly a smartphone.
  17. Maybe he confused it for a Plymouth Horizon. Or maybe he's just an asshole. I'm not in the business of selling computers, but when I ask what OS someone's PC is running on and they tell me Windows ME, I immediately offer my condolences.
  18. I don't have a mullet. I just like my music to be able to work as a substitute for coffee when needed.
  19. I actually read this headline elsewhere, at a sister site to the computer tech site I frequent. Their car column is called the Torque Report. I saw this news there before I saw it here at C&G. Then again, you would have only heard of TTR if you've visited Tom's Hardware Guide. So that's not exactly widespread coverage.
  20. Hmm I'll try to put them on a scale from best to worst (though worst isn't necessarily bad). CTS - The car that made me a Cadillac fanatic. An extremely bold design for its time, only to be outdone by its redesign. XLR - A&S + Corvette = Awesomeness Escalade - A sharp looking truck, even if I'd never buy one in my life. STS - A cleaned up version of the CTS. Not earth-shattering like its slightly smaller, less-expensive brother, but still sharp. DTS - minimal A&S equals snoring design SRX - never did like the rear proportions
  21. I'd totally drive a Camry... If you paid me $1000. Would I buy one? Nah.
  22. wpbharry: That is an awesome signature banner. Who made it for ya?
  23. What these guys said. I'd like to see employees receive fair treatment, but at the same time, they don't deserve to be paid $35.00 an hour. I wish I were paid $35.00 an hour, but that's not what my job is worth. I'm willing to accept that. It became apparent that unions have lost their ability to influence when the Transit Union in NYC went on strike last year (or so). They were on strike for two, maybe three days. Then they stopped. Why? Did the managers come to an agreement? No. Mayor Bloomberg warned the union that the city would fine them over a million dollars per day that they were on strike. They apparently thought he was bluffing. He wasn't. But then again, they are such an integral part of the city infrastructure that they cost the city millions of dollars in tourism revenue and business revenue. What would happen if the UAW went on strike for a particular manufacturer? The manufacturer would probably have to go bankrupt, and then the employees would be out of a job. Smooth move. So where does that leave their bargaining power? On the other hand, even if they could get in on Toyota's money train, what would happen if they tried to strike for better wages? Toyota would just shift production to their out-of-country plants. Plain and simple.
  24. Typically the X year / X mile warranty expires when one of the two values has been exceeded. Toyota is just following the Warranty terms and conditions to the T (or however that expression goes). GM's service, on the other hand, indicates that they are trying very hard to retain existing customers.
  25. The accordion hatch apparently increases cargo space... Even though it becomes impossible to actually put anything big back there because there is no longer a hatch. Also, by raising the spoiler to tremendous heights, it makes the car go faster.
