    2013 Lexus ES Caught

Lexus is having a problem with their new vehicles showing up before their official showing. The first one being the new RX crossover. Now, the new ES has been revealed.

Caught by someone on the XCar fourms, the new ES follows Lexus' new design language. The front end gets the new predator front end grill treatment and LED strips running along the headlights. Around the back, a new set of sculpted side fenders and the trunk lid closely resembling the flagship LS.

Inside, the GS influence continues. A large screen displaying navigation, radio, and climate takes center stage. Also, simpler surfaces and conservative colors keep it very tame.

WOW,Talk about a big build up to nothing. Seems to cut people into the I love it or hate it camp based on the comments on the web site where the pictures are posted.

Over all, Buick has nothing to fear, this car is a let down and I do not see sales going up at all but just selling to existing people who already drank the coolaid.

This is NOT a conquest auto. Hyundia and Kia are doing better than this Camry warm over.

Haha wow people on this site hate Lexus. I am not saying I have any plans to buy one but I don't think it's terrible. I mostly agree that it is boring despite the grill. That is their thing though and it has worked for them. Lexus is hardly hurting for business.

Yeah, the ES has a geriatric image, but I do know two people that bought them--both were under 30...

The entire Lexus line rests on the RX and ES. I don't think Lexus can afford to screw up the ES... and I also don't think that interior is a step forward for them.

    • It seems like you can't wipe your behind these days without getting a survey sent to you. Then, when you get around to responding to it, it has stale dated.
    • Damn, sorry about that. I've been job hunting this whole year, fairly passively. But I was recently offered a team lead position, but I have to pass a few tests, so I'm studying for those.  I've had a bunch of phone interviews and a few actual interviews (Anheuser-Busch, Boeing, and Worldwide Technology). Now that I've been offered the Team Lead position, I've stopped looking. I mostly just feel like I'm more valuable and "should" be making more money. With them offering this, I definitely feel like they know I can handle it and want me around.
    • WOW, that SUV could so easily be a Buick too with the headlights / daytime trim lights.
    • Lately, there has been a trend in the large crossover segment to replace naturally aspirated V6es with engines containing two fewer cylinders and some form of boost, either turbo or hybrid, sometimes both. The Infiniti QX60 is the latest model to join the trend. For 2025, Infiniti is switching the QX60 to its 2.0-liter Variable Compression turbo-charged engine, also found in the QX50 and QX55. The engine produces 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque. This represents a drop of 27 horsepower but an increase of 16 lb-ft of torque over a broader engine speed range. The QX60 retains its 9-speed automatic and gains a transmission fluid cooler, bringing the tow rating to 6,000 lbs for every trim. Like the V6 before it, the 2-liter VC-Turbo runs on premium fuel.  The new powertrain slightly increases fuel efficiency to 22 city / 28 highway / 24 combined over last year's model specs of 20 city / 25 highway / 22 combined for front-wheel drive models. Compared to front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive models lose 1 mpg highway. The most direct competitor to the Infiniti QX60, the Buick Enclave, also moved to a 4-cylinder turbo for 2025, and we expect others in this segment to follow suit. View full article
    • They have lockable boxes you can mount the charger in.  I agree that there's no rush to get the charger, but if you're already doing construction work inside, run at least any conduit or wiring needed now and leave it disconnected.    I found out about 30 minutes ago that I didn't get the job.  Back to the drawing board, I guess.  I hate job hunting.
