  1. Mitsubishi Plans to Provide Electric Car for U.S. According to an article in Automotive News, Mitsubishi's president, Osamu Masuko, made the announcement during the annual dealer's meeting held in the City of Sin. The lithium-ion powered vehicle will be made available in Japan first and will then find its way onto U.S. soil. The automaker has been toying with both electrics and hybrid in Japan, and intends to import both in the coming years. Although the electric-powered model may carry a bit more cache than the traditional hybrid route, we're curious as to what, if anything has materialized out of the Concept-CT that Mitsu debuted earlier this year at the NAIAS. The …

  2. Richard Gilligan retires from Mitsubishi Automotive News 6/29/2006 1:32:00 PM Richard Gilligan, the manufacturing executive who was drafted to lead Mitsubishi's North American sales organization as the company's U.S. sales were crumbling earlier in the decade, will retire at the end of this week. That's all I could get... another nail in the coffin?

  3. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 14, 2013 A new report from Motor Trend says the next Lancer Evolution will be much different than the one we currently have. The report says that Mitsubishi is working on a new plug-in hybrid drivetrain and platform that will consist of electric motors in the front and back for the all-wheel drive system, a battery pack mounted under the rear seats, and a gas engine. Sources close to project say engineers are considering a 1.1L inline-three turbocharged engine with 135 horsepower. Because of this new platform, Mitsubishi is considering changing the name for the next Lancer Evolution. Source: Motor Trend Willi…

  4. Introduction By editors at Edmunds.com Date posted: 04-03-2006 Things have been a bit rocky at Mitsubishi lately, and the Japanese automaker has a lot riding on the flashy new 2006 Eclipse sport coupe. We gave the car a mixed review this past May, complimenting its sharp handling and distinctive styling, but knocking off points for excessive torque steer and a noisy cabin. Rather than settling for a week in a press car that may or may not be representative for the breed, we requested a long-term test vehicle we could ring out for a full year. Mitsubishi complied, and in early August the company delivered a spankin' new 2006 Eclipse GT. Loaded with Sunset Pearlescent…

  5. Mitsubishi North America is getting a new president and CEO. Starting March 1, Ryujiro Kobashi will take over from Yoichi Yokozawa, 49, who has been in charge since April of 2011. Kobashi has been with the automaker since 1983, holding various positions throughout the company. Before being named Mitsubishi NA's president, Kobashi was the corporate general manager of the NA office at Mitsubishi's headquarters in Japan, where he kept an eye on the regional operations for the US, Canada, and Mexico. "I am very much looking forward to this new opportunity as we navigate Mitsubishi Motors North America to thrive in the U.S. market under MMC's 'New Stage 2016' business plan," …

  6. Toyota, Fuji to develop hybrid for Subaru cars: paper TOKYO (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp. and Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. have agreed to co-develop a gasoline-electric hybrid system to be mounted on Fuji Heavy's Subaru cars, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported on Saturday. Toyota, Japan's top auto maker and the world leader in hybrid technology and sales, had previously considered supplying its own hybrid system to Fuji Heavy. But that proved difficult given Subaru's unique symmetrical all-wheel-drive drivetrain system, the paper said. Officials at the companies were not immediately available for comment. Toyota and Fuji Heavy have been exploring ways to cooperate in th…

Reviews: 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer We expect the new Lancer to accomplish two goals when it arrives in March. First, it will convince economy-sedan buyers that Mitsubishi is once again a serious player in this segment. Second, it will convince hard-core enthusiasts that all the hype surrounding the Lancer Evolution X is fully justified. These are critical steps on the road to recovery for Mitsubishi. Fortunately, the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer appears to be robust enough to stand up to just this kind of pressure. Edmunds

  8. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com May 13, 2013 Mitsubishi could be introducing a new subcompact sedan as part of an effort to help bolster their presence in the U.S. Automotive News reports that Mitsubishi dealers were shown rendering of the sedan at the brand's regional dealer meetings back in April. Mitsubishi told the dealers that the sedan could be arriving sometime in 2015. When asked about this, Mistubishi declined to confirm the timing or whether dealers in the U.S. would get it at all. What Mitsubishi did confirm is that they did talk to their dealers about this. The company "is looking into introducing a small, entry-level sedan to the Unite…

  9. We have been wondering what kind of impact the Mitsubishi and Nissan alliance would bring to the table. According to a report from Automotive News, it looks like delays for a couple of key products for the diamond star brand. Speaking with supplier sources, Mitsubishi has pushed back the redesigns of the Outlander and Outlander Sport crossovers. Originally, Mitsubishi was planning to launch the next Outlander "in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019", while the Outlander Sport would follow a year later. Now, the Outlander has been pushed back to late 2019 or 2020 and the Sport to after 2020. The delay is due to a review being undertaken by Mitsubishi and Nissan…

  11. Mitsubishi Converts their 100 Year Old Model A to PHEV This is what you get when you take a 100 year old auto and update it to fit on top of your 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV chassis and powertrain. Amazing but the company says moving forward with superior technology is what the auto industry is all about. They hired West Coast Customs to take their 100 year old auto and modernize it. They have a very cool new site that covers their history at Mitsubishi and the changes of this project as part of their 100 year celebration. Mitsubishi Re-Model A web site They have a great history timeline with pictures of this conversion.
