i don't think anything like that will happen any time soon again here. something else will/has surely come in a more sinister form.

but i regress. what happened was horrible, the sadder part of it was what we had to do to end the war in the pacific. may these tragedies never be forgotten, else worse occur.

Croc makes it sound as if we should be thanking Japan. I am of a different view. They should be thanking US, for rebuilding them afterwards and giving them our manufacturing economy. But they will never do that. So f@#k them. :unitedstates:

I was at Pearl Harbor the day after the 65th anniversary 2 years ago.. I saw a dozen or so veterans that were survivors of the day there, and a few former Japanese soldiers..a rather solemn event. Seeing the oil bubbling through the water from Arizona is sobering. Quite an interesting juxtaposition to the parking lot at the visitor's center full of Japanese cars..

Agreed.

It's interesting, that Japan (and Germany) lost the war but have won the war economically.

In fact, Japan actually set out to do just that, they have admitted it. If they couldn't conquer the US militarily, they would do it economically.
