Line of Duty Pontiac and Plymouth

That's a great chase, here is another one I've always enjoyed for sheer distance, action and screen time. Also the first time I saw it the scene with the kids really makes your heart stop for a moment. Two Pontiac's going at it with the legendary Bill Hickman at the wheel of a land barge if ever there was one.

^ Interesting- never saw that one.

After watching some of the above, I had to check out the Bullitt scene- sure sounds like they lifted Mustang soundtrack from there for the Ventura here.

Good ear, it's true those are the same sounds used for McQueen's Mustang, both films were done with the same producer who also happened to produce The French Connection, which has it's own classic chase scene. I guess along with using Bill Hickman they decided to use the audio from the Bullitt chase too, perhaps as a means to cut cost? It's also interesting to note that despite the fact the chase begins in NYC and goes over the bridge into Jersey the final minutes of the chase actually occur in NY on the Saw Mill River Parkway and conclude with the cars bumping into the guardrail and the crash on The Taconic State Parkway respectively.

I'm still partial to the French Connection chase... probably since I've driven the route a few times... and knowing that they filmed some parts without permits or properly shutting down traffic (The accident at 86th and Stillwell was a real accident, involving an innocent driver), its pretty crazy to imagine the chaos created... knowing the usual traffic volume and the narrowness of the roadway, I could not imagine trying those stunts in a modern car, let alone '70 vintage cars.

There are a lot of chases which I watch and I would attempt it, (if I had, like diplomatic immunity)... but not this one. The drivers had ball of brass. The only other chase I could not imagine doing would be certain parts of Ronin.
