Toyota has regained the world's largest automaker crown for 2012. The automaker was able to bounce back in 2012 after the earthquake and tsunami rocked Japan last year and a large amount of recalls that caused them to lose the largest automaker title in 2011.

Toyota and its subsidiaries delivered 9.75 million vehicles last year, ahead of General Motors which delivered 9.29 million vehicles and Volkswagen which delivered 9.09 million vehicles. Toyota sales grew worldwide by 23% in 2012, with Japan seeing the largest increase in sales of 35%. In the U.S., Toyota's market share grew to 14.9% in 2012.

Toyota forecasts that will deliver 9.91 million vehicles in 2013. This is due to company forecasting continued growth in the United States and a recovery in China where Japanese automakers saw a drop in sales due to a land dispute between the two countries. Toyota also expects a weakening Yen to help out as well.

Who cares about the most sales, let stay focused on who has the best quality. Right now I would take GM of Toyota any day for Quality.

No one car company is likely to hold this title for any length of time ever again.

It will be contested for the foreseeable future, and mean very little.

Exactly that is why the company should be focused on Quality. Building Quality will give you sales. Quality with Passion so the auto's stand out from the rest.

The Relentless Pursuit of Perfection for Lexus, The Relentless Pursuit of Ordinary for Toyota.

But they are both Ordinary as Lexus offers nothing special to stand out from the rest of the Luxury car companies. Their Idea is bland and boring, fall asleep at the wheel driving.

They might as well merge with Google and just make all their ugly boring cars Self Driving since the people are more into their electronics.

It has been a joy to watch the long history of China-Japan tension manifest itself in the automotive game. One can only hope it continues and deepens.
