  1. The Camry is the most American ca you can buy I think. I don't think people care where anything is made for the most part, they buy the product they like. People buy phones and TV and computers made in China and they don't care. There wear clothes from the Philippines and Vietnam, and they don't care really care where stuff comes from, they care about quality of the product and price. If GM sold an American made Silverado for $35,000 and the exact same spec truck with the same quality as a Chinese made Silverado for $30,000, 99% of the people would pay less to have the Chinese one and they wouldn't shed one tear when the American factory shut down. That is the the cold truth of how it is.

  2. What is not being stated here is the fact that it could have been loaded onto the bed of your average pick up as opposed to wasting twenty feet of space on a rollback truck. So is gonorrhea but we still try to make sure we don’t get it.

  6. You are basically correct WRT carbureted engines; the pump of the gas pedal squirts some fuel into the intake (low pressure), while the starter rotates the pistons and starts (slowly) drawing air (and the fuel) into the combustion chamber. FI cars start squirting the fuel (high pressure) directly into the C chamber, eliminating the need to pump the pedal. MoPar carb'd vehicles didn't need to have the pedal pumped, since it took their engines a good 10 secs of starter cranking to fire when tuned/operating correctly.

  8. Well not a lot is made in the USA. Chevy is no more American than Honda or Toyota at this point. If Michigan is unhappy about GM closing factories they should look for other things to manufacture. Build solar panels or windmills in those old factories.

  11. Yeah, do the Iceland stopover and sit in all those hot tubs they have at varying temperatures while looking up at a clear Nordic sky when it's freezing outside. Those Iceland stopovers are good for their local economy. The experience will be a big 180 from taking a dip at the Jersey shore and. moreover, with Jersey shore beachgoer types. Instead, the Icelandic experience looks civil, genteel, and as if the volume has been turned way down.

  12. With Jeep and RAM... the C part of FCA is in a better position than they've been in years. They really don't need to merge with someone if they make smart use of the platforms they already have. Make a small entry-lux SUV on the Renegade platform for Chrysler in the same formula as the Buick Encore. Make a large crossover off the Pacifica, call it Aspen if you like. Make an Envision sized crossover off the Cherokee for Chrysler. Build it in the US and take all the sales from Buick. Make a new 300, Charger, and Challenger, off the Guilia platform The next Dodge Journey can be based on the extended Jeep Cherokee that we don't get. The Durango remains as is, an extended rebadge of a Grand Cherokee but with more street intentions than off-road. Sell the Chryslers and Jeeps in China and the EU. Dodge and Ram remain brands for the Americas. Punt Fiat back to Europe and leave it there. Alfa can stay if it can make a business case for itself through platform sharing.

  13. Regardless of which comes first, all these Lincolns probably drive like a Ford. Although they might be doing more than Cadillac is doing.
