  1. Waiting for commencement to begin
  2. Marist College, Poughkeepsie NY. That's the Hudson River. Beautiful day, nice festivities, my younger son is now 'launched' upon the world. Graduated with honors, Nat'l Sci & Math Honor Society, and received a Baccalaureate Award for his work on the Marist Poll. Going into clinical laboratory work. He did a great job, has strong ambition; he'll do well.
  3. Wife has great pallet and while I love all things pure, I also know that she starts off with a recipe and tweaks to taste to ensure delight of the taste buds. I have never tasted Vinegar in the dressing, but it still is yummy on a fresh salad. Sour Cream I love so in everything is fine with me. I do know that the local Greek Yogurt place she has picked up plain from them and made it with that and it is yummy. I will say I also love all things cheese and the Feta Cheese in it is AWESOME! Just like Greek Fries here that are covered in Feta Cheese. YUMMY!
  4. Because we as Americans mispronounce a lot things that have a foreign origin.
  5. @oldshurst442 I've had Greek food in Greece, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver, and in each corner of the U.S. plus in the middle. The tzatziki sauce that comes with pita or to slather on your meat is not at all like dressing. It has a thicker consistency. It's a sauce and it's good. @balthazar Beautiful location for that commencement. Is that the Delaware Water Gap or somewhere else?
  6. What is they're both right and he's an out of control genius?
  7. Yeeros are good. Why does everybody say gyro?
  8. YUCK!!! NEVER WITH SOUR CREAM AND CERTAINLY NEVER WITH VINEGAR!!! Yogurt...always with and only with yogurt...thick yogurt. Strained yogurt. Never with vinegar. Too much sourness... Lemon juice ONLY. Lemon juice also gives you that "refreshing" taste... But the first one says add some feta cheese....interesting... ? The second one...mayonnaise??? WTF???!!! But if you like it like that...you like it like that. Im Greek so...Ill be a purist about it...
  9. Longtime local Dodge dealer took on FIAT when it was clear that Dodge would not be selling small cars anymore. This will be another blow to them financially if it happens. Not sure how many they sell... not sure how much investment they had to make to get the franchise. Sad to see such gross mismanagement of parts of FCA, when Jeep and Ram show they can make brilliant products if they care to.

  11. Blame the (North American) tourist for that...Possibly the American or Canadian Greek on top of all that... And we were there last summer...I think I know what joint you are talking about Yeah...my mom made the best Greek potatoes. I miss those. I miss my mommy. The wife is a good cook too. She cooks authentic Greek food quite alright. My belly is proof. But nothing beats momma's cooking. *SIGH* I agree though about questioning the authenticity of it all. Although, Athens in general has changed for the better IMO....however, the street food that you got in Athens during the 70's and 80s' will forever be gone. Today, first of all, you cant get a souvlaki stick sold by a vendor with a grill on a sidewalk, who also grilled corn too to begin with. That is loooong gone. But even the souvlaki, although still delicious, its not the way it used to be. Back then, it was beyond delicious. It was heavenly. At least that is how I remembered it anyway...
  12. The problem in Greece is how many places actually do serve french fries, especially in tacky tourist venues. If I can and do get seasoned, lemon soaked Greek potatoes on this side of the pond, I want them in Greece, too. That "go to" gyro place in the tourist books that's near the Monastiraki Metro in Athens served up french fries and the Greeks looked as happy as clams eating them with their gyros. I was not.
  13. Those are not so much as Greek fries as they are cultural appropriated Greek oriented American fast junk food...(I aint sayin' they are not delicious, could very well be, I dont doubt it!) These are Greek potatoes... Just sayin'...
  14. "Is Fiat the Next Dead Brand in the U.S.?" Was it ever truly alive?
  15. Sonic LTZ Turbo is a very solid, zippy lil hatch, and it doesn’t look like a tumescent tick doing it.
  16. Save ya some time, you can get it two ways, thick or thin. Here are two recipes that have been very good for my family and is cheap but very fresh. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/162830/easy-greek-yogurt-cucumber-sauce/ https://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/cucumber-dill-dressing-301430#activity-feed Enjoy my friend!
  17. Tzatziki? But you said dressing. I guess tzatziki could be made to be less thick and more liquidy to be a dressing. Tzatziki is a dip. Its also the "sauce" that is in a gyro or souvlaki pita. Or "on the side" when ordering souvlaki on a stick. All kinds of veggies taste good with tzatziki as well as all kinds of meats (except beef) and fish and seafood. Unless of course its not tzatziki what you are referring to. But the only thing that I could think of that has cucumber and dill as a dressing or dip is tzatziki. And I wouldnt think that tzatziki would be that exotic. Even Lebanese cuisine has a version of this. Granted, maybe there might not be a big population of Lebanese people but Greeks are everywhere in North America now-a-days. Not as big of a population as the Eye-talians. But still...I would think that tzatziki would be more popular than that. No matter where we are in North America. Or maybe its because Greek cuisine has had a big influence in Montreal and Toronto...and Boston and NYC, that I take it for granted...that maybe other parts of North America may not be so into Greek cuisine.
  18. i’ll go to the grave saying the 500 abarth is the best city car on the north american market. so many people complain that sub-compact cars are boring appliances, yet fiat builds something that’s actually fun and practical and nobody cares.
  19. I went into a store chain that features odd batches and stumbled onto some Greek cucumber dill dressing. I bought a bottle. Unbelievable stuff. I then wanted more of it the next time I went in. They told me they only get it in from time to time. The next time I see it in stock I will have to buy at least half a dozen bottles. It was priced at about $ 1.50 per bottle.
  20. It honestly should have been a Alfa Spyder to begin with but to me, Alfa is no better than Fiat for same reasons I mentioned earlier. Sure they look better than the Fiat models overall but their reliability is still garbage just like it was more than 35 years ago. If someone wants a 124 that bad, they should just get the car it copies. Just my two cents.
  21. Kill it with fire. Almost a decade since they started selling cars in the US and the facts and numbers show that no one wants the POS on wheels, just like the last time they sold cars here.
  22. Yes & yes; Uhaul lesbian hookers, Anderson Cooper did a piece on them a couple years back.
  23. NO ONE has made a penny of profit on pure EVs. They are all money LOSERS, subsidized by taxpayers and profitable ICE vehicles. Change is FAR off in that regard.
