FWIW, it looks like they sold 113,066 Mustangs globally in 2018 so even a 10% drop still keeps them over 100,000 units. Just in the US, there wasn't a 10% drop though, -4.42%. Using -5% as an estimate, we can lightly assume they sold ~107,400 for 2019, globally.2 points

That is wildly inaccurate... 346,048 Equinoxes vs 75,842 Mustangs. file:///C:/Users/capalupoc/Downloads/Deliveries Quarter 4 2019.pdf https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2019-us-muscle-car-sales-figures/2 points

Found this JD Powers Germany Brand reliability ranking. Kind of interesting2 points

I think Citroen DS line is more luxurious and prestigious than the rest. I kind of like Citroen, they always have been quirky and funky brand, making different cars than the rest. I think Renault and Peugeot are more mainstream. In the 90s Peugeot 205 GTi was a great hot hatch, not sure how good are the current versions are.2 points

Thanks for this table. Various expected and unexpected things: Hyundai, Opel (Germany's "GM"), and Toyota do well and Nissan is the lowest ranked Japanese brand (ok) Fiat and Mini are toward the bottom of the heap (ok) The French brands are below average but, overall, better than the expensive German brands (the latter are complicated) Smart and Ford fare better than average (strange) SEAT (Spanish subsidiary of FIAT or similar relationship) is highly ranked while FIAT is not (strange) According to this, the slightly more reliable French brand is Peugeot1 point

Odd...I would have expected Mitsubishi near the bottom rather than the top...1 point

CES is going into full swing and boy are there some very cool auto stuff being announced. Sony has shown off their first electric car concept at the show and to quote them: Sony claims the car is capable of delivering 400kW (536hp) of power through an all-wheel-drive system powered by two electric motors. This allows 0-100km/h (0-62mph) acceleration of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 240km/h (149mph). https://electrek.co/2020/01/06/okay-so-even-sony-is-showing-off-ev-concepts-now/ It gives me a rip off of Porsche in the style. Very cool new Vauxhall Electric Corsa and the digs at the US and especially big Oil is too funny. Should get @ocnblu goat1 point

I question whether Fiskar can survive financially at that price tier, but if buyers bite, this potentially strong-arms all other EV CUVs in pricing.1 point

@dfelt What are you talking about? While overall sale figures for Mustang are down (like pretty much everything in the auto industry) Ford still sold almost 100k Mustangs in 2019. In comparison Caddilac sold 150k TOTAL ALL cars and SUVs, more Mustangs were sold than GM sold Equinoxes which is GMs bread and butter at the moment, this is more than Infiniti sold OVERALL all their cars and crossovers. Ford doesn't need to use this nameplate for this electric crossover, they are still doing pretty good without it.1 point

To be fair... 1973 Porsche 911 RS (the design language and actual car, really, dates back to 1963...) And yes, the 2nd gen W-Body Grand Prix is a sexy design, but a Porshe-uh dude will tell you that 'tis Pontiac plagiarizing that design language. I like the Taycan's exterior. Its sexy. Tesla, as we could see, also uses that design language on both of their sedans. The Model 3 looks frumpy though as a longer vehicle benefits from that design better. The Panamera just butchers this styling trend so I aint gonna post it in fear of vomiting on my keyboard.... The Taycan looks good. Its fresher than both the Model S and the Panamera. Lets be honest about it!!! OK...Ill retract some of my post. The Taycan does not flow as smooth as the Grand Prix does. The Taycan's front wheel arches to that fender vent opening to the front doors seem awkward. The Grand Prix flows better. But towards the back, a tad less. The Model S, flows the best from front to back from the side view!!! So...Ill agree with Balthy, the Taycan DOES seem dated!!!1 point

I think 'Butterbean' would be a sportier name. Or maybe 'Garbonzo'. And while I like those beans, I do not like that color Ford.1 point

Ahh; but you implied they were the same vehicle. Aviator interior / Explorer interior - not seeing anything carried over : '20 mercedes GLE competes directly with the Lincoln Aviator (MSRP base - L: $51.1K, MB: $53.7K). But the merceds is down on HP (L: 400-494, MB: 362-480), has a shorter wheelbase & less leg room, has 1 less gear, and frankly it just seems dated; like daimler has been using the same recipe for a decade & a half now. Aviator is extremely fresh and you can see the effort Lincoln put into it just from a quick walk-around.1 point

Infiniti is dead is it is, what is the difference? And what have Cadillac, Lincoln, Acura and Lexus done? Gotten sales of crossover versions of Escape, Equinox, Rav4, etc. I'd be surprised if there wasn't a Cadillac XT3 within 3 years based on the Trailblazer/Encore GX. The Q50/Q60 are basically fleet luxury and lease specials for people that don't want to pay Lexus or BMW prices. The QX80 will never compete with Escalade, Navigator or the big German SUVs there are far superior and the QX-Pathfinder isn't competitive since the Pathfinder isn't any good. Only place Infiniti can compete is in the $30-50k crossover segment, where there are a ton of entries but it is a big space.1 point

Makes sense in Sunnyvale, though..heart of Silicon Valley. I bet it's a different story at rural Ford dealers in East Dullfield, Indiana or Shitstain, Alabama..0 points

Upon reading this story, I have to agree that the Mach-e will allow the Mustang name to live on as sales have been dropping on a rate of 10% a year. https://www.autonews.com/blogs/mach-e-ford-ensures-mustang-badge-will-live#adunit_path=opinion/blogs That kind of drop means that the hard core fans are not buying enough to keep the ICE Mustange alive as is and that active people who want performance but in more of a CUV form will be the buyers not just now but in the future.
