Man. I didn't say I liked her or didn't like her. I just was capitalizing on posting that vintage photo that has made me laugh for years and years. And I had to get a "down vote" for doing so. Too funny.3 points

I am a sucker for these animal stories and videos, though more so when they are about dogs. I like this one, too, about a goofy dog hopping onto a bus in Finland: https://www.thedodo.com/close-to-home/dog-rides-bus-alone He didn't sit down. He stood on the seats. At least he didn't have a boom box with him.3 points

October 26 seemed like a familiar date. Then the light bulb went on. It's Hillary's birthday. Happy birthday, Hillary. Some people just keep on hitting the wall harder and harder. For others, they're not getting older, they're getting better.1 point

Tesla is installing a 40 MWh battery system in Santa Barbra to increase GRID Resilience for the area which will reduce brown outs and outages as there is only a single supply route. The focus of California is to build in clean energy as a backup of renewable energy. Pictures of the install is on the link at the bottom. To quote: It is going to reinforce a weak point in the region’s electricity transmission system known as the Goleta Load Pocket (GLP). Coastal View reports: Clean Coalition, who has been backing the project and pushing it through approval, says that the VESR project is going to be a first step in creating a microgrid to protect the region from such outages. They wrote: They decided to go with Tesla’s latest utility-scale battery technology: the Tesla Megapack. VESR will consist of 15 Tesla Megapacks and the first 5 batteries are currently being deployed at the site. https://electrek.co/2020/10/26/tesla-megapacks-deployed-increase-grid-resilience-santa-barbara-county/ Very interesting read as the web site iseecars reviewed the start of widely available hybrids and what the longest owned versions where. No surprise to see Toyota at the top with #1,2 &3 spots covered by Toyota Highlander Hybrid 38%, Avalon Hybrid 36.5% and Camry Hybrid 34.6%. Toyota's Lexus ES 300h sedan and Prius were in the top 10 of the longest owned auto's. Low cost of ownership with reduced maintenance costs seems to make these auto's push the 10 year plus ownership. This I can see increasing the number of older auto's on the road as people upgrade less often. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1130070_why-do-owners-of-toyota-hybrids-keep-their-vehicles-so-long1 point

The guy was driving an XT5...said he'd driven Cadillacs for 30 years.. Speaking of Subarus, there was a black Ascent parked behind me at the bank this morning, looking at the tail end in my rearview mirror, I thought it was a Ford CUV of some sort until I noticed the oval emblem wasn't a Ford blue oval...1 point

I want to do more cross country trips eventually, but not in plague times. I would do one again but at a leisurely pace, staying in hotels along the way or in an RV. No more straight-through drives.1 point

I chose the laugh icon because I'd be afraid to feed it. The mpg I got between Tampa Bay and Orlando in that base Charger sold me on the 3.6.1 point

'toyoter' & 'impressed' in the same sentence ?!? Only instance I can imagine that being uttered is 'toyoter went 7 days straight without a recall.'1 point

I realize I captioned a photo up above incorrectly. The engine bay has a 3.6, and not a 3.5. They will obviously have some money in the budget to fine tune these vehicles' styling and amenities for the next 3 years. I hope they take them in the right direction. Sometimes, there is some floundering and wavering with how they change things up. Take the 300. I liked the clean, horizontal grille of this mid-decade more so than the later and current blacked out eggcrate/honeycomb grille. I think that these platforms are continuing on for a few reasons. FCA may have some hesitation about the next moves with this platform and may be buying time. With GM and Ford leaving this segment, they have it to themselves among domestic brands. Police fleets and rental car companies, as well as die-hard fans of this platform, will buy them again. In consumers sounding off, quite a few have stepped up from one Charger to another one, or one 300 to another one, over the last dozen or so years.1 point

Sounds like the Charger, Challenger and 300 will be around in current form at least the next 3 model years.. https://www.autoblog.com/2020/10/23/dodge-challenger-charger-new-variants/1 point

My rosebushes have not done well, this was their third yerr. This summer, in a bid to shore them up, I applied Miracle Grow rose food every 2 weeks, with surprisingly limited success. In the same bed, I have two weigelas. One is fantastic, the other is puny. They were planted together about 10 yerrs ago. Now I am thinking of yanking them all out with a tow strap and eliminating that side bed altogether. Ass, Grass or Gas, no one rides for free.1 point

It's not that it's on the market or in the market. It's that I keep going back to the fridge saying, "I'll just eat a few more spoonfuls," and it's gone way too soon. And then you don't feel that great afterwards. I keep telling myself that I won't buy ice cream cartons (in some form of chocolate) anymore and then I repeat this mistake every 2 months or so. Tonight, I learned that I can't buy Trader Joe's water crackers, either.1 point

Explain please, this seems crazy as I just got a few cartons of ice cream at my local Fred Meyers. EV in the ICE Thread! Tesla of China is recalling 30,000 plus Tesla S and X from 2013 to 2018 imported from California due to suspension issues. Seems GM is willing to let software companies battle for their right to build the ultimate auto interface versus current GM interface that is across all four brands. As such, GM has NOT currently stated who will build the next generation interface / HUD for Buick or Chevrolet, but they have committed to two companies. Cadillac will have their all new interface, Retina Quality based AR interface with HUD from Envisics https://envisics.com/ https://www.digitaltrends.com/features/envisics-ar-windshield-technology/ https://electrek.co/2020/10/19/gm-cadillac-lyriq-electric-suv-crazy-head-up-display/ GMC will have their new auto interface / HUD built by Epic Games using the unreal engine. https://fossbytes.com/epic-games-to-develop-ui-ux-of-electric-hummer-using-unreal-engine/ https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/gmc-hummer-ev-will-use-fortnites-gaming-platform-epics-unreal-engine/ https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/20/gms-official-run-for-tesla-starts-with-its-electric-hummer-debut-tuesday-night-.html https://www.bgr.in/gaming/hummer-ev-to-run-on-fortnites-unreal-engine-reveals-epic-games-918745/ https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/gmc-hummer-ev-will-use-fortnites-gaming-platform-epics-unreal-engine/1 point

I just saw one of those right after being totaled. The car was still on the side of the road with the family, safe, giving statements to police. A dump truck pulled too close to the driver side of the STS, hooked onto it and started dragging the STS down the road. The entire driver's side was destroyed.0 points

Seen that with so many GM, Fords, FCA, etc. Democracy and freedom is the ability of choice. Buying American does NOT insure you get a quality product as American products of the 70s to 2000s has proven. Nationalist Propaganda does not insure quality. Taking accountability to read the owners manual, follow scheduled maintenance gets ya closer but even then does not insure quality. On another note, many of us can respect this man's welding project that my sister sent me today since she knows I grew up making models.0 points
