If that was true we would not see people like Mitt Romney who only paid 16% on his $27 million in earnings in 2016. A stated rate and what they really pay is two different worlds. If the 1% did not abuse the system and were given loop holes, then Donald Trump would not be writing off a Billion dollar so called lose over decades.3 points

It's not 'my' assessment, it comes from the Dept of the Treasury. Here's older info, but not that markedly different than now, I believe. >>"In 2001, the top 5% of taxpayers paid more than one-half (53.3%) of all individual income taxes, but reported roughly one-third (32.0%) of income. Taxpayers who rank in the top 50% of taxpayers by income pay virtually all individual income taxes. In all years since 1990 {to 2001], taxpayers in this group have paid over 90% of all individual income taxes. In 2000 and 2001, this group paid over 96% of the total."<< What that last point leaves you with is, the bottom 50% paid about 4% of all taxes. I love the narrative that 'the rich "don't pay taxes", corporations "don't pay taxes", we KNOW the bottom 50% don't pay taxes... yet somehow the IRS takes in 4 TRILLION / yr. Somebody is lying. Something from Pew Research, if you like their POV :2 points

(Looks for the part where states like California actively tried to secede from the union in 2016 and finds nothing, unlike Texas today). And if certain folks hate CA so much, let’s just imagine what happens when you cut out the fifth largest economy in the world and then they stop sending their massive tax dollars to the feds to support all the other states. For all of California’s flaws, nothing beats the whining coming from certain subsections of the country. That’s all I’ll say about that because god forbid even a hint of politics show up before the resident whiner here starts complaining. The many loopholes in the current tax system would disagree with your assessment. That’s why certain folks only paid $750 just a few years back.2 points

No question the top five percent pay taxes. No question corporations pay taxes. Those at the top and corporations do everything they can to minimize and avoid tax payments as much as possible. Such is life.1 point

Forgot to mention, Last Friday I choose to surprise my wife by redoing our bedroom. Happy Wife, Happy Life. So I emptied it out, prepped it, Textured the room and repainted it along with an Accent Wall and then moved everything back in. She was very happy, I got it all done in 6 days and still managed to keep my skiing reservations.1 point

Today was my second time on the Mountain for Ski Season. Awesome, 12 runs made, 21.5 miles skied. Was a Perfect Blue Bird day and more snow comes in tonight! Epic requires total coverage to keep everyone including the employees safe. As such, I am only happy to oblige so that I can enjoy skiing the mountain. Mr. Brooks and Mrs. Daisy Sasquatch are having a good day! Last Saturday was Opening day of Skiing and it was excellent on all the signage and safety they had. Bug Man skiing!1 point

Damn those Audi EVs and their electrical problems (which has been said for the last forty years or so but sure, let’s just think it’s an “EV” problem).1 point

We could say the same thing about your state or any state. California is not perfect, but has led the nation in looking for better ways to insure people have a healthy life. Nothing wrong with working to ensure healthy air, drinking water, etc. One only has to look at how choked the skys of LA were in the 70's with leaded gas compared to now with seeing the mountain ranges. 70's compared to today.1 point

Yes, the house was built in 1952. I bought it in 1999 off the Foreclosed list and gutted it and then updated to modern commercial standards of electrical, Copper water through out and then insulated and sheet rocked it and did a basic tape / mud of the walls and then used Smokers Sealer paint so the whole house was just basic white for about 15 years. Then in 2015 I started to take room by room and do a medium splatter texture. Used my Home Depot gun I bought in 2015 and have textured everywhere in the house and updated with new paints. Our bedroom was the last room to be textured and then painted. Wal-Board Tools Texture-Pro 200 Hopper Gun with 3 Spray Tips-52-020 - The Home Depot Works great with my air compressor I have. Starting off 2021 with the house about 95% complete. The wife asked me if I could update the Laundry room, so have started to remove everything so I can update it to be modern. She wants a stand up shower there for coming in from the yard and just have it updated with some additional shelves and new utility sink. If I can get it all done, then 2021 will start with the house 100% done. I am sure she will think of other things.0 points
