The very real issue is you'd be looking at age discrimination lawsuits in trying to implement something like that. Hope you're ready for 'all the stupid' being able to go 0-60 in 3 seconds!!3 points

So the weekend was a comfort food night with left overs. ? Left over for Sunday dinner homemade mac n cheese with Havarti cheese. Saturday night was BBQ chicken sandwiches with the mac n cheese. The process: Cooked the bacon Then made a bacon roux. Then building up the base of the sauce with seasoning. Pasta is in as this is a one pot mac n cheese. Stirring in the 4 cups of shredded Havarti Cheese. Bacon time, but kept some out for garnishment on top. Time to slowly stir it all together and let the pasta cook. 20210220_171756.mp43 points

Somehow I do not think Jeep is going to give up a nameplate that has been around almost 40 years. Not to mention customers would be upset about the change. The might as well give up the Demon name too for those god fearing people.....?3 points

Most people would not construe that comment as particularly inflammatory. It was a blighted casino that wasn't cutting it. Atlantic City, in general, doesn't measure up to what it should have been. Implosions are rare and complex events, requiring a lot of planning and with no room for error, so they're sort of nifty in a weird way. I've only seen one and it was that of the Kingdome in Seattle in 2000. Too bad, because I liked the Kingdome. Closer to your turf, the implosion of some stadium, possibly where the Eagles once played ... not sure, on the south side of Philly along the Delaware River was one of the more interesting ones, with the collapse following the circular form of the stadium. And you took my last comment incorrectly. It applies to a lot of people who react the same way when they can't back up anything discussing a weighty topic. So, in addition to you, it would be some ridiculous and not very enlightened friends of my late mom, a few clueless neighbors of mine, etc. I agree, Olds. It's that it's done consistently, as is the situation with the confused vote, and with no added commentary, which doesn't have to be present, but NEVER is. And it's done in a little kid, "cat ate the canary," smart-alecky sort of way.3 points

Well, for 2022 they are splitting the Bolt into 2 models--the EUV that is the CUV and the regular EV that is the tall hatchback.3 points

Loved that Era of dodge vans....good memories of old days with those. Thanks for posting this up. Probably so. Where was this taken, Tampa Bay? When I was a kid, MAD magazine had a cartoon about middle aged women replacing sex with food. I still have lots of sex, but my main cravings seem to be power tools and good books.2 points

Dialogue has commenced, but the Cherokee Tribe seem pretty set on having Jeep Drop the name. Chief of Cherokee Nation asks Jeep to stop using tribe's name (msn.com) I can see Jeep as they bring out their Hybrid and then EV changing the name. Texas should have done what Canada did back in 1998 to get some power on for people. Use Loco's to power the grid.1 point

Simplicity of powertrain is a non-issue with consumers, if one can draw a parallel to electronics and safety features- consumer crave MORE, not less. Multi-turbos, coil on plug ignition, cam within cam... THAT’s what gets consumers ‘excited’! Maintenance is a... ghost herring. ?1 point

Robb Report ~ Porsche is reporting its synthetic "eFuel" could make IC engines as clean as BEVs; that it is showing early promise to burn so clean -being a much less complex chemistry- that it could reduce the 'well-to-wheel' carbon footprint of a vehicle burning to to on parity with a BEV. Aston Martin reported last spring that it, too, is working on a synthetic fuel as a valid alternative to expensive electric powertrains. In 2020, only 3.2 million BE's were sold globally in a market that is 65.5 million - a take rate of merely 4.8%. - - - - - Exciting times we live in, eh?1 point

Passes closed early due to excessive snow fall and them rain on top that took avalanche danger to a crazy high threat level. On the way down the mountain, in a little town that you are in and out of usually at 60mph I found this old house rebuilt and an old car since we were creeping along down the mountain. Some cool big machinery on the pass. 20210221_130507.mp41 point

The downvotes are a a bastard of a thing... 1. A post not agreed with getting a downvote WITHOUT additional explanation is maddening... ESPECIALLY on a fact based post or thread If the downvoter could express his/her reasons as to why he disagrees, then a clear discussion arises and the whole point to the forums gets achieved... If not...its just trolling A troll gets to be exposed when PROPER discourse is being made. 2. If a downvote is being made on an OPINION piece...than that is just wrong. And kinda rude. Which again is just trolling by the downvoter. 3. Then a pattern gets established when a downvoter is CONSTANTLY downvoting. TROLLING gets to be the mantra of downvoting...all. the. time. In my honest opinion...TROLLING in a public forum is MORE detrimental than talking about politics or religion. IF PROPER discourse WITHOUT trolling is made, EVEN when politics and/or religion is THE main topic, then there are NO problems. (Im not even going to mention uneducated-ness and close mindedness because IF PROPER discourse is being made...then civilized discussions are being made...no PHOQUING NEED TO DOWNVOTE...) The up votes is yes...a feel good treat. Its human nature to feel good about things. A troll gets his goodies off by pi$$ing people off... Again...its OK to disagree...and to downvote...but PROPER discourse should ACCOMPANY a downvote. And a DECENT rebuttal should ensue. If not...its trolling. A whole bowl of not good...1 point

LOL Chevy Bolt is NUMBER 83 on a list of cars with a percentage of US parts. Nissan Rogue is number 89. And there are other foreign-branded vehicles, including Nissans, WAY higher on that list than the Bolt.1 point

Bigger question, how much weight did they add to the nose to balance it and keep it from twisting over? ?1 point
-
Of course they're going to need the IC portion to charge the battery or use as a generator. It's just great they if they have a 36 gallon tank, it'll last a hell of a lot longer than any generator AND be silent from inside your home, unlike any other generator.1 point

Upgrade on the cam is about it. Machining & new pistons will reduce compression (rated at 10.5:1), cam will need to offset that. The trans is still a question- the stock one is of unknown condition, not sure if I will go thru changing over to a TH400. Gearing is fine. I'm approaching this as a 'survivor' car since it's so original, besides; the Invicta will eat any GP cosmetic money right up. I'm way past the point of no return there, so the only way is 'forward'. A pic/vid shoot would be awesome. Of course- I will keep the status posted here.1 point

Are you doing any significant upgrades? After you get it running/driving/legal, I'd love to stop by and we take it out for a drive and photo/video shoot.1 point

A road trip with a Tesla Model 3 cross country. The only disserting thing about it is Tesla's Autopilot. In my opinion, it aint even a problem if one actually is aware of WTF is happening while actually DRIVING the phoquing thing. But it IS a problem of what he describes as the software programming with Autopilot because as we all know, people do NOT drive anymore... They dont want to... As far as range goes in the winter. He does not give us numbers, but the way he talks about the trip, especially on the last leg home, he does NOT mention anything on battery drain or range anxiety. One could assume that winter battery drain is probably not a big deal at this point... There were 12-13 charge stations from where they were to Michigan. They didnt stop. They drove 36 hours straight. They did NOT stop for any of those 12-13 charge stations....1 point

Just got an email that our Austin HQ Campus is powering down and will go dark for an indefinite amount of time so that the power can go to the family homes in the area to keep everyone warm. We have been running on backup generators, but we are moving work for hardware / software projects to datacenters out of the state to allow those that can work to continue. Crazy weather in Texas.1 point

I just found this datapoint. This is what happens when you don’t build reserve capacity into the system and use scarcity pricing instead. Check out what “the invisible hand of the market” did during this weather disaster. ”Next-day power for Tuesday at the ERCOT North hub jumped to a record of $1,489.75 per megawatt hour (MWh), while some 5-minute power prices approached $11,000 per MWh over the past couple of days, ERCOT said. That annual average at the ERCOT North hub was $26 in 2020.” - ERCOT via Reuters And to give you an idea just how much capacity is offline, “The weather has forced about 34,000 megawatts of generation off the system, ERCOT said on Monday, or 40% of roughly 82,000 mw of expected capacity, as ERCOT instituted rolling blackouts.” And they have no way to import power from other states. The feds are working on interconnections with other grids, but those apparently will take over a week to get operational and even then will only feed outer areas of the blackout areas.1 point

@Drew Dowdell Lots of news stories all saying the same things about why Texas grid cannot handle the winter storm and it follows what you say, where there seems to be differences is in the grids. Saw this as the most common image. Is it pretty close to being right? Course now I am seeing this one on CNN, Bloomberg and AP.1 point

OK. here's the update since last post. Cylinders were filled with Marvel Mystery Oil end of August but the motor never responded to turning any further. OK, it may have moved about 1/16th of a revolution. It's stuck. It has to come out. Using a borescope, most of the cylinders are fine, 2 look less so. Don't have any idea why it won't turn- it's something else. I decided to have the Tri-P rebuilt and run that, it needs to get done so the motor can use it when being built. 2 months turnaround on the carbs, supposedly 3 months before the engine builder has a slot for my mill. Cam is spec'd, going to do some transmission recon as I may swap it for a THM400 unit. It's either get this car moving again, or sell it off.1 point
