  1. Canoo is an EV startup that in 2019 showed to the world a subscription service auto called the Life Style Vehicle. This EV had a center based driving position and to some reminded people of the VW Microbus. Fast forward a few years and Canoo is now a publicly traded company that has considerable patents on EV powertrain and other components and under a new CEO had up to today two products planned that the public knew about. The Canoo LifeStyle auto pictured above and their MPDV or Multi-Purpose Delivery Vehicle pictured below. An unknown source leaked on Reddit that Canoo was planning to enter the lucrative and highly competitive North American truck market. As such Canoo has confirmed and released a press release about their new Lifestyle Pickup truck. According to Canoo, this truck will be the perfect work truck as it will feature a powered workbench, tool storage along with a modular expandable bed and more. Press Release Quote: Pull-out Bed Extension: The pickup truck bed is six feet long and can extend to a fully enclosed eight feet, allowing big items such as a 4 by 8 ft sheet of plywood to easily fit inside. The pull-handle bed extension also helps with loading and unloading the truck. The extension also serves as a license plate holder. When the bed is extended, a second layer of tailgate doors can be swiveled out. The bed-extension also houses a secondary lamp, containing all tail lamp functions, so the truck can be driven while the bed space is maximized. Fold Down Worktable + Cargo Storage: To offer the greatest customer utility, the pickup features a front cargo storage area that can hold tools or gear, also includes a fold down worktable with electrical outlets. The workstation table is extendable to allow customers to have maximized work surface on the go, in addition to providing an area to put on gear before heading out exploring. Flip-Down Side Tables: Both sides of the vehicle house a flip down table in two expandable depths. Built into the side panel of the truck bed, the flip-down side table becomes a workbench with multi-functional power sources in close proximity. Side Step + Storage: On the side of the vehicle there is a hidden step to allow quick and easy access to the truck bed. Underneath the step is a flexible storage area for items including: a first-aid kit, cooler for snacks and drinks, lockable laptop storage and more. This space efficient feature is only possible due to Canoo’s ultra-flat platform. Modular Bed with Space Dividers: The truck bed is modular with the use of Canoo’s space divider system designed to keep items separate and secure. The bed wall also incorporates modular wheel chocks to secure bikes and configurable tie downs for ladders, large equipment and other materials. Multi-Accessory Charge Port: The pickup truck can double as a powerplant with exportable power accessible on all sides of the vehicle. Power can last all day for tools and devices, with as little as 10% impact on vehicle range. Integrated Overhead + Bed Perimeter Lighting: The third break light doubles as an overhead light to see inside the cargo bed at night. The vehicle is also equipped with perimeter lighting on all sides of the bed wall for added visibility. Roof Rack: The pickup truck has optional roof racks in variable sizes for added cargo storage. The roof rack is easily accessible from the flatbed or via the sidestep. Camper Shell: The pickup truck has been designed to accommodate a variety of camper shells to fit as many use cases as possible. Canoo's Pickup Lifestyle vehicle will have the following specifications: Dual (AWD) or rear motor configurations Up to 600HP and 550 lb-ft of Torque with Dual Motors Payload capacity of 1,800 lbs 200+ battery range as default with longer range options. 3. I’ve read that early Connery closely resembled the Fleming character persona. I’ve never read the Fleming novels, but have read ones by various authors since the late 80s. Bond has had some interesting cars in the later novels, incl an ‘80s Bentley Turbo R and a Saab 900 Turbo. the 1954 version is on You Tube, I’ve watched it. Peter Lorre is the Le Chiffre character, and Jimmy not James Bond is an American.

  5. I always laughed even though maybe not the most polite jokes, but funny still is all the Little Johnny Jokes. Finding one of her students making faces at others on the playground, Ms. Smith stopped to gently reprimand the child. Smiling sweetly, the Sunday school teacher said, “Johnny, when I was a little girl, I was told if that I made ugly faces, it would freeze and I would stay like that.” Little Johnny looked up and replied, “Well, Ms Smith, you can’t say you weren’t warned.” Little Johnny came running into the house and asked, “Mommy, can little girls have babies?” “No,” said his mom, “Of course not.” Little Johnny then ran back outside and his mom heard him yell to his friends, “It’s okay! We can play that game!” Little Johnny is always being teased by the other neighborhood boys for being stupid. Their favorite joke is to offer Johnny his choice between a nickel and a dime Little Johnny always takes the nickel. One day, after Johnny takes the nickel, a neighbor takes him aside and says, “Johnny, those boys are making fun of you. Don’t you know that a dime is worth more than a nickel, even though the nickel’s bigger?” Johnny grins and says, “Well, if I took the dime, they’d stop doing it, and so far I’ve made $20!” 23 Little Johnny Jokes That Will Make You Laugh (humoropedia.com)

  6. Good morning and Happy Saturday. Wow, the jokes you hear from grown-ups who went to ... ahem ... parochial schools. I'll try to clean it up a little bit. - - - - - A man is walking along the beach. He comes across a shiny object in the sand. As he examines it, it's apparent that it's a genie bottle. He holds the genie bottle and, suddenly, a genie appears. The genie tells the man, "Master, I can grant you 3 wishes, and only 3 wishes, and then I will disappear forever. Think carefully as you can only wish for 3 things." Man on the beach: "I want $10 million in the bank." * cue sound and visual effects of wizardry and magic * In the man's hands are credible statements for reputable banks with this sum of money in the accounts. Man on the beach: “Wow!” Genie: "What is your second wish, master?" Man on the beach: "I want a 10,000 square foot mansion overlooking the ocean." * cue sound and visual effects of wizardry and magic * On the beach, a luxurious mansion appears and, in the man's hands, is the deed showing ownership of this property. Man on the beach: “Great!” Genie: "What is your third wish, master? Think carefully as this is your last wish." Man on the beach: "I want a d*** that hangs down to my knees." * cue sound and visual effects of wizardry and magic * So the genie cut off his legs.

  7. That new Ford Maverick is shaping up to be pretty darn spiffy. So many comments online asking for a regular cab from ppl who owned old-skool compact trucks. Even a Supercab would suffice for me with a 6' bed. I'm going out on a limb and predict the SuperCrew in the recent spyshots has a longer bed than a Rivian and maybe even a Hummer. The days when a pickup truck was judged by its work capacity were good days.

  8. Your talking body and frame ‘truck’ like a Tahoe. I’m talking the unibody competition which still is , as an SUV Of similar size and space, going to command more because it’s an SUV. the large unibody SUVs don’t have much advantage in towing over a minivan. very few people cross shop Tahoe’s and suburban and expedition etc vs a minivan. If you’re getting a body on frame truck it’s because you want the full frame and a more usuable towing capacity. I’ve never known anyone who’s cross shopped a truck vs a minivan. Also, no one takes a minivan or unibody suv off road. The AWD is simply a traction enhancer for these people in bad climates. True off-roaders take pickups / trucks and Jeep’s off-road. And Broncos now too.

  9. absolutely correct about how much more $$$$ for the same 'stuff' if it were an SUV. (and in particular GM). Now, partially due to being a returning lessee, Chrysler had EXTRA 3,250 incentives for us, beyond all the regular incentives everyone gets. We know GM does incentives big but I'm sorry, a little measly 1,000 dollar GM card top off incentive towards what GM has as a 45-50-60k MSRP vehicle is almost a big freaking joke. I used our GM card first time back for our 99 Chevy Prizm, and those dollars meant something. Really the big difference in my case here was this time around I was able to get memory seats, surround view monitor, 2 rows heated seats, heated steering wheel, full safety package, front row cooled seats, the very latest touchscreen and operating system with wireless charging, USB-C ports, wireless Apple CarPlay, power folding third row, vacuum cleaner....for less. So part of that is because on the market, people pay less for the van compared to SUV, and some of that is due to GM poorly building trims and packages to exclude and extort. For example, on an Enclave Essence it is near impossible to have access to a unit with surround view monitor. Even many with premium trim do not have it. So we were lucky due to our situation as returning lessee to get a 53k+ sticker vehicle, written on the lease order with a purchase price of 38k and change. And actually too the residual is low, normally you don't want that but it may actually be a good enough value at the end of the lease to purchase. 15 grand in incentives and discounts. crazy. The hybrids are extremely cheap to lease now, extra incentives for hybrids. I would have except we still wanted sto n go. Hybrid doesn't allow that. The all wheel drive does hit the fuel economy. So far i guess its a 12-15% drop but that is in line with the lesser epa numbers on the window sticker, AWD vs FWD. Wife thinks it drives faster, I think it takes more gas to get it going. Reviews say its about a 1/2 second hit on 0-60 time. I would say that is about right. I think the front drive or all wheel drive is good in bad weather, more dependent on the tires. I just wanted the added traction of all wheel this time around. I bet Chrysler will get a greater than 50% take rate on the all wheel drive across the Pacifica line this year. the 20 inch wheels are sick looking, but what is funny.....with the added sound isolation materials on the premium trim...it's quieter but also with the 20 inchers and low profile Falken tires..and I think they've done some steering tuning....this thing is kind of fun to drive for a large rig. the roll stiffness is definitely more compared to the 2018, and the steering is sort of quick feeling. And the ride isn't worse...it still is sorta cushy. There's a little less front end weight bias due to the AWD drivetrain, it feels a bit more balanced in handling, and for a boat this size, actually seems kind of fun. The Pacifica drives nicer than many sedans out there these days.

  12. Upset right now....not fond of being scammed. Had someone come to my door letting me know that my gas company was going to basically give discounts-just had to sign up. She was professional- being both busy and caught off guard- I believed her. Only to find I got and email “thanks for switching!” THIS after I asked three times if this was for my current company-which she said yes. So now I have a mess to clean up on Monday...pissed is an understatement!!!!
