sorry to bring up an older post. finally looked at them. Don't your links show that "radical" or new designs are being made without your proposed R&D grants? PBMRs are becoming an "old idea", just hasn't been put into place yet. doesn't it usually cost the most to put these idea into production... like why GM is changing to "flex" assembly lines, so change overs are much quicker and less costly? i could see how a tax on non-renewables would help the transition, but with that new tax would come more bureaucracy. the gov. is already the biggest employer, maybe in the world, why would you want to even just shift employees around in it? to start to address the debt, you'd have to start cutting something.

to be fair, what are the 07 stats based on...straw polls? i find it unlikely those stats are very real , pre-08.

yes... the debt should be #1 thing talked about between JM and OB ...but they'd agree that spending couldn't go down significantly.

i believe "photovoltaic chemistry" has pushed efficiencies too about 40% (in the lab, not mass produeced yet)...using some rare metals and such... unless you mean the 50% realistic ceiling idea. rotor design, as in wind power? yeah, mostly. i did see an article about putting "whale bumps" on an edge, better low wind power and better high wind managing. reactor...that's mostly regulation causing, right? lets go thorium! i know there is a N.E. firm looking at putting turbines in the mississippi around my area, probably putting out enough power to displace a coal plant about 40 miles south, but would take near 2-3 years just to start on it. higher taxes, would that include gas? guessing you wouldn't do that to renewable diesel and such, right?

those two are pretty much exclusive... if you raise taxes your economic freedom is burdened...less if it's a tax on goods, more if it's on income. ...the debt is related to that too.

i'd think the refinery( s ) in TX aren't buying oil so that increases temporary supply lowering prices, but the limited gas produced has caused gas to rise in the areas "serviced" by TX.
