  1. Well, Justin. My name is Oldshurst. I think I prefer your name as CadillacKing3. For one, I dont like Justin Bieber all that much, despite that Im Canadian... Also, I dont like BMWs all that much either. Hey...Im glad that you are back on your feet and BMW helps pay the bills for you. Its just that BMW and I have a love/hate relationship. Its personal. Id rather not talk about it right now. But trust me, you'll know why eventually if a BMW conversation ever comes up with BMW discussions. Glad to meet you... I hope you feel the same about me. You will see Im full of emotions. Just hang on for the ride...I promise you will have fun.
  2. I must admit... The thought of that car has got me giggling. Like the first time I saw a boobie. I must make another admission... If the ZL-1 is gonna look like that from Car & Driver's article, I just got a boner, like the first time I touched a boobie. The wide hips and all other boy racer attachements really transform (pun intended) this car for me in ways I did not think was possible.
  3. Well, Cadillac wouldnt be in this mess right now had the yuppies of that time did not think otherwise. Sometimes perception IS the reality. Semantics... It was the D-Body I was referring to...as per the pic I posted... I googled to get my story straight... Why its semantics? The D-Body was closely related to the B-Body... It had more Cadillac bits and pieces on it as opposed to the Chevy, Buick and Oldsmobile...because Oldsmobile sold a Vista Cruiser type station wagon for a couple of years... What were those bits and pieces? Who cares?! Yuppies did not care about those differences...just GM fanatics clinging on to the good times...but the good times were looooong gone! Like I said...yuppies at that time REFUSED to acknowledge this vehicle as a luxury car...it was a dinosaur... Hyper mentioned this Seinfeld episode... Ill post it for ya'll to see it... Cadillac...that D-Body Cadillac...any Cadillac...was relegated to retired old geezers in Florida waiting to die. Dont misinterpret what I just said as I not liking these last of its kind General Motors cars...BOF... I LOVE these cars... Id rather a 1996 Impala SS over that E39 BMW M5 from the same year... But...THAT was the reality back then, and only 20 years later in 2016, Cadillac is slowly getting away from that stigma...but it hasnt fully recovered from it just yet.
  4. V8 or V6? Whatever...it will sell as well as the Blackwood and the Mark LT sold. But that very well may mean success for Mercedes Benz....I dont think M-B is looking to outsell the F-150, the RAM and the GM Twins with this... maybe 5000 a year is what they want...and they will probably get.
  5. I know that the Bimmers in the 1980s were not luxury cars. Far from. Interiors still lack that luxury feel today... But what I was trying to say was that the luxury criteria was slowly being written by that BMW formula. Yes. I know that a Chevy B-Body and the Cadillac B-Body was world's apart. But...to the newly written laws of luxury that were slowly taking place, the yuppies of that time saw no difference in that Cadillac versus the Chevy. That is what I was trying to convey when I posted those pics and said what I said. I also like to explain why I feel that way...the way that the pendulum was slowly swinging the other way and me comparing that to big V8 SUVs of today... Some posters have voted me down and some have pointed out to me that the other two domestic manufacturers keep on selling V8s in their trucks... V8 trucks arent going anywhere...so maybe I did deserve that down vote and maybe my assumptions of comparing the deadly 1980s for American luxury to the SUV craze of today is unfounded fear...however, the importance of V8 power is not as strong as it once was, but the inclusion of electric motorvation is an element that is creeping up in prestige...and maybe THAT is what I wanted to say...but me being Greek, a tad of melodrama in my posts adds to the entertainment value that I bring. The title of that emoticon is "HUH?" Yeah...that is right! Sometimes I over dramatize to make a point and to entertain you bastards!
  6. We...my family...dont do too many restaurants as I own one, and my wife and I know how to cook so we make delicious dinners at home....and in the summer time...I BBQ all kinds of stuff. The kids will have a burger or hot dog at my restaurant from time to time. The only fast food joint we do is McDonald's. We do that maybe once every other month or so. The ONLY burger I do at Mickey D's is a Quarter Pounder with cheese and a Big Mac...Ill will always order the two burgers at the same sitting since we dont eat there often and I will always forever cherish a Quarter Pounder and a Big Mac. I figure...I might as well enjoy both burgers at once since it might be a while before I eat McDonald's again... Whopper with cheese at Burger King is another favorite of mine. But Burger King has closed 95% of its stores in Quebec so I havent had a Whopper in over 5 years. I wont go outta my way for one.
  7. LOL!!! Time efficiency is like the "reliability" of fast food. I like that line! If we ever start advertising on the radio...and maybe even take the big step and advertise on TV...I stealing that line from you! If it succeeds..the tag line that is..I will give you a cut....a fair amount!
  8. I HATE the 430/F430 Scuderia and the 360 Modena...so for me...if the question was for those...Id EASILY choose the new NSX.
  9. Yeah..Id take a F355 also. But I heard that the repairs on this is truly a nightmare. Extensive and expensive. Not very reliable... One area where the NSX of those times showed them Eye-Talians how its should be done... So...the NSX does have a place in history....even if its only the 1st generation NSX.
  10. Funny how that works... I was loud about hating an ecoboost V6 in the new GT...but I have since calmed down...and Im quite docile about it. I would still want a Flat Plane Crank in there, but the thing is, I would rather own the 2005 generation...and while the 5.4 liter V8 may still sound great, I feel that a Ford GT NEEDS a Flat Plane Crank V8, and my choice would be the 2005 generation....restomodded to 2016 levels of goodness. Yeah...it has only been a decade, not really needed to be restomodded, but hey...it is a dream garage type thread, isnt it?
  11. About those luxury SUVs with beds... Are those bought just for the V8 burble sound or are those bought because of the excess standards the American Dream represents? This eerily reminds me back in the 1980s sometime when some of us were foolishly still believing this was still the norm: which was no better than this: which begat another generation including the chromed slat on the under body when in reality...these were fast becoming the norm for luxury excellence which of course just blew the doors off of that Boca Del Vista Cadillac in the mid 1990s... Not that the Escalade is gonna go anywhere, especially when Bentley and Rolls Royce are playing to the Escalade's strenghts...a weird scenario for a change as not for a awhile has the pendulum swung back to an American flavour that states what luxury is... But in that playbook of excess, in your face luxury....a V8 may not be part of that equation...an electric motor riding along side the V8, or V6, or 100% electric is probably the way its gonna play out...
  12. Love the baseball pic CCAP! Busch Stadium is nice... OK...on to the question at hand. THAT is what Id rather own...a used Ferrari 458. Viva Italia! But when this eventually happens: Ill take the insurance money and get me one of these: with an engine transplant To have my very own flat plane crank V8 sound...but made in America, not Italia...because those that come from Italia seem to burn to the ground...
  13. And about the CT6... Cadillac's darling? HA! Its a fine automobile...its a good thing Johan was hired when he was hired because I have a funny feeling that had Cadillac went along with the CT6 being the best Cadillac had to offer to beat those Germans, I think Cadillac's run for supremacy would have been very short lived right after the CT6's launch... Reality is that the CT6 is good, but not good enough. Mercedes Benz is not staying still... Sure, the low end entry level stuff is crap....but the high end stuff...its really really good. And the CT6 does not hold a candle to those. Maybe a CT6 is far ahead of the CLA...but reality is...many people buying into the CLA wouldnt be caught dead in the CT6...even if Robert Cumbersome would praise the CT6's style and denounce the CLA worse than he has the Continental...
  14. HA! HA! HA! If he buys my next car for me, out of his own pocket...then and only then does his words carry weight... If anybody wants to buy ME a car...from THEIR own pocket...then and ONLY then do their words carry any weight with me... If he tells me that my favorite modern muscle car, the Hellcat Challenger is a craptastic design and he tells me that the Alpha Camaro is the modern Mona Lisa...and he wants to buy the Camaro for me...then yes...Ill agree to his words...if not...his words are just...words. Like anybody else's on this planet....and we are 7 billion people and counting.... You mean.....SUBJECTIVE... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... Even Ford Edsels today fetch a fair amount of coin at auctions... All he does is just criticize...just for the sake of criticizing... Not that I dont share some of his opinions on some of the styling choices and decisions Lincoln took with the Continental... But please...this man makes a living by criticizing... He will find flaws in the Greek Parthenon... He will find flaws in the Statue of Liberty. He will find flaws in the Mona Lisa. Just to sell you a copy of his editorial in the magazine he writes in so he could collect his pay and go on and buy that Lincoln Continental so he could drive it to New York City just to look at the Statue Of Liberty again, then take a plane to Paris and Athens to see the Acropolis and the Mona Lisa again... Like I keep on saying...automotive journalists are whores...they will say anything just to make a buck or two... Ive read many of his so called opinions on automotive style on many cars he has done... All of them...he just negatively criticizes... Funny...I keep on hearing about Harley Early, Ian Callum, Henri Fisker and even Bangle...but not once does this clown's name come up for automotive design... Taking the Howard Stern approach of shock and awe is sooooooooo passé, overdone and not very credible.
  15. Point being? Even the continent's (U.S.A. AND Canada!) best selling vehicle and pick-up truck is foregoing V8s for one reason or other... Electric vehicles are gaining steam (...er...electricity) You know, people have been driving gasoline powered cars for over a century and have gasoline stations in every street corner possible, yet many are giving this electric car thing a chance....well, maybe not where YOU live as charcoal burning electric factories are dirty dirty propositions....but where I live...and $85 000 - $100 000 CDN electric powered Teslas make for a much more intelligent choice... And in Quebec, $85 000 - $100 000 CDN is very very very very hard to come by. The Province/State which is taxed the most in North America. The Province/State where gasoline prices are probably the highest. The Province/State where there are probably the most people living below the poverty line and not many people living beyond the mid level middle class... A Province/State where NOBODY wants to do business in...Quebec Premier Ministers and Canada's Prime Minister not only BEG for foreign investor's to dump money into this Province, but Canadian investor's also....heck, Quebec companies THREATEN the Province to leave the Province because Quebec business practices are the WORST in North America!!!! Yes...WORSE than California's!!! So...my point? As an enthusiast of muscle cars where huge amounts of torque are the key at very low Revolutions Per Minute (RPMs), an electric vehicle like a Tesla Model S answers that question with flying colours. Ford...with its ENTHUSIASTIC Raptor...went ecoboost V6 on us! Point is....the electric motor in a horseless carriage is running of its rails like a crazy train. Like a bat out of hell it goes. And...its much much much cheaper, more reliable, with no liquids other than windshield washer fluid to run! You like, you like. You dont like, your problem, not mine. Keep the blinders on, your loss, not mine!
  16. Yeah...most of them are in trucks... Point is in my favour... And now...watch this: I think Ive made my point. And...to boot...but I wouldnt bet all my money on what Im about to say just yet...but I think that electric vehicles in Quebec out sell V8 cars...cars is the keyword... Yes...take all the V8 cars out there...Mustangs, Camaros, Vettes, Hemi 300Cs and Chargers, Challengers, Mercedes Benz S classes and the like and I think the Tesla Model S out sells all V8s in Quebec...
  17. 1968 Montreal...only 4 cars in the picture...all V8s. Early 1980s Montreal Many cars in the pic...a couple of 4 cylinders, a possible 6 Cylinder Malibu, it could also be a V8 Malibu, and 4 visible V8s... Recent picture of Montreal traffic. I bet you WONT find 4 V8s in all of that congestion... I see 6 V8s...one is a Ford E350 bus, A GMC Savanna commercial Van, a Cadillac Escalade a couple of pick-up trucks....but no cars....only the Escalade one could say that a dude actually bought his vehicle for the V8 burble...the rest are commercial purposed.... A sea of 4 cylinder cars...including a couple of those cheap, false entry level lux Bimmers...
  18. Ummm….. yeah. Not where I come from... Gasoline is expensive where I come from...literally, there are but a handful of V8s... The new Mustang is out and about in Montreal...Ive seen 7-8 of them in the wild...1 was a GT. The rest were all ecoboosted 4 cylinders... The LX cars from Chrysler...a decade ago...most were of the Hemi variety...today...all Pentastars. The price of oil is what? $30-$35 a barrel? In Montreal...the price of gasoline...87 octane...$1.09 CDN per liter today...
  19. THIS...I agree with. If one is to complain about a Model X....THIS is the way to go and is as legit as it gets. But to whine about it just because its electric...well... I gave reasons why I may like a Model X...well, not the Model X because I HATE ALL CUVs and SUVs and this Model X is no exception...but a Model S would be greatly accepted in my driveway. Or a Chevy Volt. Or the upcoming Tesla Model 3.
  20. Blu...as a consumer... Electric vehicles benefit me. Electricity versus black gold is cheaper for me. As a Quebecois...electric vehicles benefit me...as the source of fuel that powers the electric vehicle is produce and sold and the monies made stay in my Province... As an environmentalist...not really, but for the sake of this argument, the electricity produced in my Province through its raging rivers via damming lakes and introducing generators beneath the raging rivers is as green as it gets... As an enthusiast....yes an enthusiast...a MUSCLE CAR enthusiast INSTANTANEOUS torque tickles my fancy...and electric cars have instantaneous torque no matter what speed, no matter what rev range... So...the V8 burble is lost...its a criteria that I dont mind not having...hey...it aint 1969 dude...take a look around you...THERE ARE NO V8s burbling anymore...RAV4s, Camrys and fake cheapo entry level 4 cylinder lux Mercedes and Bimmers roam our streets...
  21. Hey...where I come from...damming raging rivers produces cheap electricity... Give me a T Give me an E Give me a L Give me a S Give me an A Gooooooo! TESLA!
  22. Tesla Model X, of course... I know, but why is it so daggone UGLY? Because ALL soccer mom SUVs are ugly....every single mother$@#$%!% one of them!!! But...because this one is a Tesla...all is good in the hood! No they are not there, Skeeterbite. This Tesla should be crossed off everyone's list, like this: X Yup...like THAT! X Because X Marks the Spot! Tesla Model X!! Yeah Boi! Word to your motha!
  23. The summer of 2025? Good!!! That leaves us at least 4 years to enjoy it before Judgement Day occurs and the robots take over.
  24. Tesla Model X, of course... I know, but why is it so daggone UGLY? Because ALL soccer mom SUVs are ugly....every single mother$@#$%!% one of them!!! But...because this one is a Tesla...all is good in the hood!
