  1. You're packing heat, I see. First we do Charles Bronson Then we do Clint Eastwood in the same way. To salute CCAP's purchase.
  2. 30 degrees Fahrenheit is cold, Casa? Shhhhhhh. Dont tell anybody, but you might be a wussy boy!
  3. Why did BMW buy Rolls Royce for? BMW already owns this segment through Rolls Royce... If you ask me...any German attempt in this segment is a pure fail... Unless it has English heritage...aka...Rolls Royce and Bentley... SMK...the Maybach has come and gone...twice...this third attempt wont fair any better... Mercedes has a good thing going on with the S Class... BMW has a good thing going on with Rolls Royce... Id leave well enough alone... Visions of grandeur is what this is....and usually, visions of grandeur dont end up too good...
  4. Blu...were you referring to me? Maybe it was Mr. DFELT that you were referring to as a rabid EV supporter... It don't matter.... Ill talk for myself. 1. Im at work...I just opened up my computer to see waz up...I couldn't earlier because my restaurant was super busy up until now... 2. I just saw the terrorist attacks in Brussels just before opening up this web site...so yeah...I might be a tad slow on the news front today...only because I was catering to my customers that themselves had no time to chit chat with me... 3. And...I never comment on articles like these to begin with...especially ones that come from Consumer Reports... I don't believe them...when they are positive, nor when they are negative... Example...when the Tesla Model S first came out...with no history behind it...it was THE BEST CAR THAT CR EVER reported on... Now...it is not recommended... Toyotas were forever CR's darling...yet...engine sludges and truck frames cracking and cars that run away and premature rusting never deterred CR to give them bad ratings...but now all of a sudden...Toyota does not pass the grade? Yeah...be proud of a magazine that blows bullshyte no matter what way that bullshyte swings...
  5. If I could go back into time and relive my teenaged years in the 1980s...this would have been my dream garage...actually, this WAS my 3.0-3.9 liter dream car garage in the 1980s... In order of preference this time around, starting with the car that I lusted the most and ending with the car that I lusted a little less than the most. 1986 Porsche 930 Turbo flat six 3.3 liter. 1989 Turbo Grand Prix 3.1liter V6 1985 BMW M635 CSi 3.5 liter inline 6. Yeah...Id rather the Turbo Pontiac G.P. FWD W-Body over the Bimmer ...problem???!!! Tied for 5th place 1987 Buick GNX and 1989 Ford Thunderbird SC (Super Coupe) Both 3.8 liter V6s...one is Turbocharged, the other Supercharged.
  6. ^^^ Amazing how long those crumple zones were back in the day... Measured in football fields I reckon....
  7. OK...I see that I cant choose a different path as the one I chose originally over at MT forums back in the day because of all you people choosing the the Buick GN/GNX.....but...Id gladly bypass the Buick for something more unique, more different, but same exact engine. And I get to keep my absolute favorite pony car name plate in my dream garage at the same time...TRANS AMs ROCK!!! 1989 20th anniversary Pontiac Turbo Trans Am 3.8 liter turbo V6 Frisky...you mentioned JDM cars....well...here are a couple...like Surreal said though...STOCK for me also. Yes...T-TOPs....both the Pontiac and the Nissan with T-TOPs... 199whatever 3.0 TTV6 Ill need a winter daily driver... JDM car but with a MOPAR badge. 1994-1995ish Dodge Stealth R/T AWD 3.0 TTV6 I need a modern muscle car as a family car... 3.6 liter TTV6 Cadillac CTS V-Sport I need my convertible: 3.5 liter V6 Plymouth Prowler It turned out to be a different dream garage after all. COOL! http://forums.motortrend.com/70/9627697/the-general-forum/dream-garage-revisited-30-39-liter/index.html
  8. Of course you are allowed, Drew. I might actually do a second list in this one. And Id LOVE to see a second list from you, or anybody else!
  9. I have come to the conclusion that I am fed up with the cliché: "he brings to the table" Whether a sports journalist uses it or when a sports figure says it...or anybody else for that matter that uses it no matter what context they use it in... I. HATE. IT.
  10. alllllthough, if it keeps a soccer mom or some other ding dong doing everything but driving from hitting my impala while im trying to enjoy a drive i could bask in the assurance that it lessens the possibility of me having to commit manslaughter... Yeah...that is the upside with all this technology! Glass half full / glass half empty situation...
  11. I dont really care about Alfa Romeo's version of this platform... What El K is suggesting, I care about what MOPAR engineers could do with this RWD platform and what they will do with it to replace the LX cars which consists of Charger, Challenger, 'Cuda and 300. THOSE are what interest me. THOSE are what I care for. THOSE are what are important for the survival of Chrysler and Dodge. I KNOW that MOPAR engineers will perform their miracle work on this platform along with MOPAR's excellent Pentastar V6 and HEMI V8 that whether this Guilia is vaporware or not...THIS platform is almost do or die for MOPAR... But then again, are we certain that this platform is destined for MOPAR use? It better be!!! Like I said though, I dont care how the Giulia will turn out, I have the utmost confidence in MOPAR engineers that I KNOW the MOPAR cars will turn out just fine!!!
  12. I remember choosing the Oldsmobile Calais 442 when this Dream Garage debuted over at MT forums... Do I continue on with it? We will see....because I like to be different...so Drew...you stole that Olds from me!!! OK...family sedan 1. 2017 Ford Fusion Sport 2.7 liter ecoboosted V6 2. Ive learned about Skylines somewhat along the way...and I would want a R33 GT-R 2.6 liter TT inline 6. 3. Drew...I got no choice but to take the Olds 442....I almost always take an Oldsmobile in these Dream Garages....especially if the "442" moniker is involved. 4. Time for my convertible. 2.3 liter ecoboosted 4 Mustang...sorry Camaro...I may prefer your engine and your chassis...but I hate your looks.... 5. I NEVER choose these types of cars...Porsches, Vettes...but because Sled aint here...I owe it to him to carry the Porsche flame! 2.7 liter..1973 Porsche Carrera RS. But if it werent for my honour choice...Id probably go with this car instead from Europe...diesel 2.8liter V6...Jeep.
  13. At the lower levels of performance, I might pick the challenger because I like the size of the car and I'm a sucker for the Hemi. But I know I'd end up killing myself in a Hellcat where I feel in absolute control in a CTS-V. It just comes down to that. I also know Id kill myself with the Hellcat. Screw it! What is it the young kids say today?
  14. ^^^ Impala SS mags on that Buick! COOL! OK...The Buick got a video...the Cadillac got a video... But the coolest of them all..an all-out black Impala SS gets nothing??!!! For shame..here is a video for the Impala SS Motorweek
  15. Im a muscle car guy through and through. Although pony cars are muscle cars too, and the Challenger is also a pony car...the Challenger always played in both camps. More so the modern day Challenger than the classic one. Especially the Hellcat version... Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy: The Hellcat Challenger for me. Had this been between a 1969 Camaro 427 ZL-1 versus a 1970 Challenger 440 six pack, Id have a harder time picking. Id probably pick the Camaro....but then again... 440 six pack Mopar muscle is as good as it gets...This would be very very difficult...Id probably be at an impasse.
  16. Im perplexed with all this technology... When these cars are new....the technology will be flawless... But when the automobile in question gets a few thousand miles on the odometer and a few years under the belt..an automobile is a machine...and machines break down and need maintenance, both scheduled and unexpected because machines...eventually break down and need fixin'. So...what happens to the technology that is there to "save our lives" but needs regular maintenance and repair...and the CHEAP ASS owner DOES NOT DO the REQUIRED maintenance? After all...some people forgo oil changes for Christ's Sake!!! People dont even change a burnt light bulb... SHYTE!!! People dont even check their tire's air pressure.... I FEAR the future we are creating with this nonsense!!! We assume that these technology filled life saving automobiles will be just as pristine and in good working order as the day the car left the assembly line....yet for 100 years plus..we KNOW that aint true...yet we INSIST to ignore... I FEAR THE FUTURE WE ARE CREATING!!!!
  17. Yes. The D-Body line continued on in Arlington built on the same line as the B-Body. So now, the million dollar question for me that needs to be answered...for my own personal knowledge... Two Questions: Is that '90s Fleetwood Brougham D-Body related to the '90s Chevrolet Caprice B-Body in any way? And if so, what differs a '90s D-Body from a '90s B-Body?
  18. Balthy...those are cool choices. Sled, a MT poster would do off the wall choices too, I miss him, but as long as I got you here at Cheers and Gears, Im a happy camper!
  19. It is difficult to pick cars when the prices are given in US dollars for the US market and Im living in Canadian dollars in a Canadian market...in Quebec of all places... OK...GS350 F Sport...in Quebec costs: 97 000 dollars... OK...Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 starts in US dollars: $66 900 OK....that is cutting it close...M-B nickel and dimes you so that base price really aint much to go with....so scratch that. A Tesla Model S starts at 71 000 US dollars....DAMN YOU FRISKY!!! with your 67 000 dollar cut off! I cant even choose the Chevrolet SS as its not even offered in Canada... I think Im good with the pricing with a Cadillac CTS V-Sport. 3.6 TT...I think the Premium trim busts the budget but the regular trim should be fine... EDIT: HERE I WAS BUSTING MY CHOPS TO SEE IF I COULD FIT THE V-SPORT IN THIS THREAD AND TWO WISE GUYS SNEAK IN AND ANSWER MY MOTHER&$#@ QUESTION...I DID NOT HAVE TO BREAK MY BRAIN....ALL I HAD TO DO IS JUST BE PATIENT AND WAIT FOR CP and CCAP COME TO THE CONCLUSION FOR ME!!!! AGGHHHHH!!!!
  20. These were my choices back at MT... http://forums.motortrend.com/70/9688386/the-general-forum/dream-garage-revisited-sub-20-liters/page2.html I see that the Alfa Romeo has quite the following since then... I will change it up, just to be different. The funny thing is, I forgot what I had chosen and I was about to post the same cars...but I wont do that....just to have a change. 1. And Frisky...you beat me to it...with the SUV...instead of the Buick CUV I originally had, Im gonna go with a Suzuki Sidekick. Ypu have the Samurai...Ill do the Sidekick 1.6 liter or 1.8 liter...whatever I find. Maybe a Chevrolet Tracker...anyway...this: 2. I always do convertibles with these. Fiat 124 Spyder...Id do the Miata...but somebody already did that choice over at MT...I like to be different. And since Im not doing the Alfa Romeo 4c...I kinda have to replace the Italian Red Head with another... 1.4 liter Turbo 3. I need a family car...Ill keep the Ford Fusion. 1.5 liter EB...since the 1.6 that I have is no longer...and the refreshed version. Screw it...Ill take the Fusion when we do the 2.0-2.9 liter... Malibu...I guess its a 1.4T... 4. In today's world...electrics have become very very relevant...Chevrolet Volt... 1.5 liter generator...with ELECTRIC BATTERIES attached to it!!! 5. Im keeping the Acura ...
  21. ^^^ You see Balthy, I always thought the 1990s Fleetwood was a B-Body...straight up B-Body. Then when BLU corrected me and said it was a D-Body, I was perplexed, that is when I googled Wikipédia and they said that the 1990s Fleetwood was a slight variation B-Body renamed the D-Body. Stew has acknowledged just now that a Fleetwood was actually called a D-Body. I did not look further as to what différences a 1990s B-Body had over the Cadillac D-Body, but that also symbolizes how yuppies felt about the Fleetwood back then so I did not look it up on purpose...to kinda prove a point in doing so as well...all symbolic. I only got to drive a 1993 Caprice sedan with the 305 I believe... I got to drive it quite often as it was a a co=worker's car. He was an older gentleman, in his 60s at the time, and he had a good looking daughter. I cruised his daughter many times, she never took my bait though, but he liked me a lot. He let me drive his Caprice often...maybe I should have tried to date him...he had money!!! LOL!!!
  22. Good stuff, Frisky! I will also introduce shortly my "would you rather threads" when I start seeing interesting cars on the roads and I will pair them up for us to discuss!!! I will post my choices tomorrow...Ill let the thought process stir in my head for a while....last time we did this...many things have changed in the automobile world, so I need time to reflect. Just try to get Sled in here....I always liked his choices...
  23. The fat guy in his personal transport thingy hitting that M-B is the funniest Ive seen in a awhile!
  24. Stats in general...are meaningless... Unless one races his car at the track or drag strip...but on public roads...especially when family haulers have 300 horsepower ratings, illegal speeds and illegal driving are attained in a blink of an eye, and not much room to do anything else with it other than crash and kill innocent bystanders. For me...the cool factor kicks in and the "gotta have it" becomes my measurement of performance. Anything under 6 seconds? my 2005 Impala SS came close to that measure. My 2012 Acura TL SH-AWD I believe does that in under 6 seconds. V6 Camrys also have 0-60 times under 6 seconds. That measure aint really that impressive anymore. 0-60 times under 4 seconds is impressive, though. Motorcycles were the only ones to accomplish that 20 years ago...to see cars that weigh 4000 plus pounds do that is impressive.
