  2. GM as a whole, not just Cadillac. As Drew has made it clear GM as a whole supplies competition to the single branded Mercedes.
  3. When has 370lb-ft in a compact car ever been considered "weak"? "However, it also generates higher amounts of torque between 1,000-2,000 rpm compared to the old engine. The most vigorous push comes as early as 3,000 rpm, the automaker promises, with the M139 shaping up to provide instant shove without the need to bury the gas pedal. And, since the engine torque is better distributed, you also get a driving feel more similar to that of a naturally-aspirated, big displacement motor." https://www.slashgear.com/how-mercedes-amg-made-the-most-powerful-turbo-four-cylinder-engine-in-the-world-08583089/
  4. A45 AMG, another vehicle GM has no answer for in any of their brands. Smart to engineer it to be capable of being used pretty well across their lineup, if they choose.
  5. IMO, it isn't so much about the 0-60 time being exactly what I do but it still lets you know how hard it does or does not accelerate. I don't go 0-60 pretty much ever but I know I'll pass people and looking at two different 0-60 times, I can tell which one will do the job with ease and which one I'll have to do with more planning and caution. I think that is what Ford keyed on when throwing their EcoBoost engines to the world. They're not some crazy powerhouse engine but when you go to test drive one you have almost all of your usable power in the low to mid range with those tiny turbos.
  6. And yet none of those offer the options Mercedes does per vehicle. Again, for better or worse because they should and will trim the lineup because it is pretty absurdly large right now with some very slow selling vehicles.
  7. I have literally never heard anybody say the CTS-V or ATS-V had too much power.. They changed the name because the company as a whole is all over the place. They're one thousand times more consistent than Cadillac has been over the last decade or two. What does GMC have to do with this? I already conceded the consumer truck market is all GM(comparing to Mercedes). I'm talking about the broad spectrum of options that Mercedes offers from the top to the bottom of their lineup that fills every niche in the middle(again, for better or worse).
  8. Understandable why it would have had a ~50% growth that year then. Then we can say ~7.5% are real AMGs then.
  9. Cool... ~23% of what Mercedes offers. That was written in 2017, fwiw. https://www.thedrive.com/sheetmetal/17048/amg-makes-up-10-percent-of-us-sales-for-mercedes-benz
  10. How is one supposed to find how many of each model they sell? Mercedes claimed 10% of all sales were AMGs so that's about the best we can go off of. That's roughly 24-2500/year. Yeah, Cadillac is all over the place right now. They need to sort themselves out.
  11. The same people buying GLA45's.. V-Sport is like me considering the AMG43's.. and M-Sports.. and S-Lines. They're nice vehicles with stout powertrains but they aren't true performance versions.
  12. Mercedes interiors have pretty well owned their respective segments for all of their current generations. I'm not saying they are stylistically everybody's preference but professional reviewers always praise their fit and finish along with superior materials. Mercedes not only has a vehicle for every little niche in the market(for better or worse *cough* GLE Coupe *cough* *cough* GLC Coupe *cough*) but they have legit AMG versions of everything except the new A Class, that I can think of. CLA45 C63(sedan, coupe. and convertible) E63(sedan, coupe. and convertible) CLS63, S63(sedan, coupe. and convertible) AMG GT AMG GT 4-door coupe GLA45 GLC63(SUV and coupe) GLE63(SUV and coupe) GLS63 G63 SL63 E63 Wagon On top of those they have the Maybach S Classes.
  13. In what ways does Cadillac have an edge on Mercedes? I'm counting all of zero, outside of the consumer truck market.
  14. You're probably into reality shows instead.. I watched it when I was young and probably around 13-14 years old I got out of it. I have a buddy who still follows it, actually, and he put it this way to me that made me understand it better than thinking of it as "fake wrestling" or just plain "fake". "It's just entertainment. It's a story line that never ends and even though there's a pre-set outcome, the consumers still don't know so it's still a surprise every time". That's paraphrased as I don't know what he said word for word. It made me look at it differently. I still don't watch it but I get it now. I could see how somebody would still follow it.
  15. You must have never watched WWF/WWE back when The Rock was heavily involved in the late 90's-2000's. To answer your question, "a foolish or contemptible person".
  16. No, because you're still stuck spending a relatively absurd amount of money for essentially the same thing. I'd argue the ipod/phone thing in that all of the software, saved images, music are so much larger you NEED a larger capacity to do the same job. I think it is a perception of a lower price but not actually lower. I'd argue more the time value of money makes them lower priced more than anything else. If a $400 iPod 10 years ago vs $400 one today, after inflation, it costs us a less percentage of money(assuming salary only goes up with the rate of inflation with no promotions, etc. ).
  17. Nothing at GM can touch anything at Mercedes. They may have competed decades ago but Mercedes lineup whoops Cadillac, top to bottom. The only thing they aren't into is consumer pickup trucks and their attempt to re-badge a Nissan was $h!. They were smart to get out of that atrocity before too long. Cute use of the word "jabroni". I see you continue to be unoriginal.
  18. So the answer was, "no"... I can't wait for my $50,000 car to have 1000 miles of range!
  19. When does that ever transition to the consumer?
  20. The range just isn't there yet.. You need to flip those numbers for my serious interest. " Zero claims a reach of 161 miles in city conditions, but the number nearly halves to 82 miles at a constant 70 mph. At least those ranges, and the digital display's range indicator, are realistic. In Car and Driver's 75-mph highway test, we measured a range of 70 miles."

  22. All of their past attempts felt very half-assed, imo. Having a hybrid with an guestimated 39mpg combined and a plug-in with 30 miles of range, those sound much better competitors to the hybrid market compared to their past "efforts". The new one is too soft looking for my but if the baby bronco version also gets ~30 miles of plug-in range, I could see myself seriously considering that down the road. But then again, at that point I'll probably be more apt to be looking at something Explorer Plug-in-sized.
  23. The 2020 Escape is a hybrid and plug-in hybrid.
  24. I love that this stuff is all public now. It gives these POS unions so much less leverage once the public realizes these nearly skinless jobs are paying so well.
  25. Don't forget about the other best seller that has a hybrid, RAV4. It starts less than 28k, too.
